A shero in deed, Gloria Richardson - Malcolm X said the original protest in Washington, DC was to include her and others laying on the runways at National Airport (now Reagan National Airport).
A great woman and fittingly telling about the incapacity of Louis Farrakhan to fill Malcolm's shoes.."They were horrible!" " You could feel the crowd go..." Gloria was one of the grassroots leaders Malcolm acknowledged in his 'Message from the Grassroots' speech.
James Baldwin flew all the way from Paris and was not allowed to speak at the March on Washington. No way they were going to let Malcolm speak. No way.
This was just a bit of the interview. See more of it on this site (the 15 min. vid is posted above under "suggestions"), and that vid includes the link to the full interview including more footage/speech of Brother Malcolm.
I believe the main rift between Malcolm X and Dr. King had to do with different approaches to civil rights. Dr. King's approach was slower because it involved more people and more negotiating but at the end it was the only one that worked. Whereas Malcolm X's approach was Africans have lived in America since the founding of the republic if not longer. And they should've gotten their freedom three-hundred years ago. And we want that now which is certainly understandable.
@Tarek Jabal Precisely, he was coming to realize the next step of economic empowerment was a far more difficult challenge. He was leaning to more socialism/democratic socialism in his philosophy. Without his white liberal coalition, he was controlled and had little direction to pivot to the next step. The poor people's campaign was the next play, but obviously he did not live to see it executed out as planned!!!
@susiepace2125 also explaining the intricacies and complexities of the March on Washington, she was there in the trenches fighting so we could all run.

Ederik Schneider it wasnt that kings approach worked it was just acceptible more or less to whites it was a detrimental to black people
Ederik Schneider . king and any house nigga chirstain sell out.
The only thing King's way got was assimilation, which has been the downfall of Native Black Americans ever since.
@@donnab.333 What King and his Movement accomplished is nearly all the rights which you now take for granted.
