girl PREACH. Im from the DFW area in Texas and I wouldn't even go out by myself past sunset. As soon as its dark I do not feel safe as a woman outchea in these streets so I feel ya boo.

What I miss the most about Seoul is how safe I felt there, I could walk back to my airbnb at 1am without a care in the world! I’m going back for the same reason you did, I’m living my Crossroads moment rn 🤣

I can vouch for this. I left my laptop in FULL view in the front car seat of my car (no window tinting), windows half opened AND in a busy sidewalk with the road crossing literally 5 feet away for an entire weekend. ( drunk the entire weekend lol🤣). Walked back to my car was literally floored when I still saw my laptop still in my car with nothing stolen, or damaged.
Koreans learn what's called 도덕성, meaning proper etiquette as citizens, in school when they grow up. The shame of being labeled as a criminal is FAR worse than the actual punishment by the law. And the guilty by association is a traumatic punishment for life. ( for example if you steal, your entire family will basically be labeled as a thief, oh that is the thief's brother, or mother or uncle, etc..) Not saying nobody in Korea doesnt steal ( they still do) however not as many other countries that I've been to.

2. I really think your voice is nice that usually when i watch a video i sometimes just dont turn on the volume because i am in public and just turn on the cc but yours, i would wait until i finish job or put on earphone to listen (im sorry if it sounds creepy lol)
3. Totally agree with the using mobile phones in subway, and because i use the hell line 2 during peak hours so i bought a security screen protector film where it cannot be seen by other people (or atleast dark and blur so they cant see clearly) but only when uou stare right infront of it can see whats on the screen
4. The safety part XD i felt the same ans it is actually one of the reason wht i decided to reside in kr instead of going back to my country

Korea is SO cheap, especially Seoul compared to other metro cities in the world. I live in the middle of Gangnam and pay 1 mill for rent for a really nice, huge open newly renovated studio. 1000 where I'm from (Kentucky) would get me an old apartment that smells like cigarette smoke probably in a less than ideal part of town. Nevermind metro cities like NY or SF. Also shopping can be much cheaper than in the US. The only thing I think would add up to be more costly than the US is groceries. in Korea it's actually cheaper to eat out at a 김밥천국 every day (average ~$4 for a meal) than it is to cook at home.
