Alex, you put so much hard work into your van and now you're getting your reward.
This was so much fun. The van looks really good. The Lake District-how beautiful. Leila seems very happy in the van.
So excited for your first adventure! And - Lake District, great choice.
I travel a lot with my dogs and I have a few suggestions for dear Lela. First, perhaps get her a reflective orange vest harness. You want her to be visible to you and others when you are in woods or even low-light camping situations. She, like my English Cocker, is that beautiful blue merle that blends into everything (as a good feral hunter should). Second, either use a seatbelt with her harness or a crate tethered to the seat/floor in case of fast stops or accidents. Any time your coffee, phone, or fridge is sliding, Lela is as well. Not such a worry when she is awake and alert, but it could be catastrophic if she is asleep or in a position where a bad landing could injure her. She can still move around and even look out a window when she's awake and alert. I know hundreds of people who travel to trials and shows with their dogs and travel harnesses and crates have saved countless lives. You are a good driver; other people are crazy. Lela is your most precious friend. ❤ Finally, most of us take water from home for our dogs to avoid any tummy upsets based on differences in water treatment and hardness in different areas. Of course, the dogs will still drink from random puddles 🤦♀but it's something to be aware of when traveling with pups. 😉
Lela is one very lucky dog to be able to have so many adventures with the human she adores. And, I've said it before, she is beautifully trained and has a lovely temperament.
I agree with your suggestions. We take water for our dogs too when camping. Also, they are always tethered while traveling in the RV or car.
Seems like a flexible, economical way to travel, Alex. And you can bring Layla. Very good
In the US, we use water filters, and surge protectors.
I suggest putting the power unit in the closet above the generator/heater, with a portal for the cord to pull out. Also, portable, collapsible pet fencing.
Happy travels.
Another thing I always have breaker off when plugging into the electric pole, also have a tester to make sure it is wired correctly and doesn't have any shortd
Alex, it's great to see turtle back on the road, there were times when I thought that you wouldn't finish the refurbishment. Caravan and Motorhome Club sites are usually of a similar standard throughout the UK. The best CAMC site that I've seen is called "The Woods" located near Stirling in Scotland, it boasts several "Loo of the year" awards, the toilets are home from home with privacy cubilcles and TV's on the wall. I'll have to try and squeeze in a visit later this year. The blue connector plug is an IP44 240V Plug 16A according to the Toolstation catalogue. It's good to see that you fully unwind the mains lead before use as safety officers and fire service personnel would recommend. A suggestion is that if you're paying a flat rate for mains electricity (not metered) that you buy a small oil filled radiator with a thermostatic control for around £30 as this will keep you and your van warm and save you running the diesel heater. looking forward to seeing more of your travels.
Congratulations on taking Turtle out overnight Alex. Lovely video
Awesome Alex...looking forward to joining you on your travels. It's going to be a great summer !
Thank you for taking me along for the trip, Alex ❤😊🇦🇺
Make sure you get a potable water hose. They are usually white. 👍 ❤
Love the lake area..thanks for the visit.
That is a nice camping site in the beautiful park! It looks like you and Layla are having a great time! All your hard work is paying off!! Billy and Yanis will be impressed when you get back to the convent! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
This was lovely and a much needed distraction. Thank you for sharing 💗
Hey Alex, you certainly won't get a hotel room for 25. pounds, that allows Lela to come along, the views and the freedom to explore so easily. I think your official campervan trip was a success, after all your hard work you know can enjoy the Turtle. Well done. Love from N.Y.
Missed your round up that you mentioned several times during the video. You said you would be bringing us up to speed on events and had stories to tell. Definitely peaked my curiosity. Safe travels 😊
He always forgets. He said something happened at 4am too but never told us (afaik)
Congratulations to both you and Turtle. You are ready for great adventures. Onwards and upwards. 👏👏👏👏
WOW epic 👏 👌 Journey begins !!
Take care
What a beautiful maiden adventure with Turtle! Way to go, Alex!
Well done Alex she on the road on your 1st Road Trio , It looked a lovely place to stay with your camper, and with all the facilities available for you use. Thankyou for the trip😘
8:50 is what i would call a commando plug
Congratulations Alex, that went really well (gorgeous scenery & neat info)
I can't wait to see what comes next.🙌
Storth is 15 minutes from my house. Great fishing there
It would make a magnificent backdrop for your camper to drive up and along the Hardknott Pass, which is properly in the LD National Park.
Lela is living her best life!!!!!
Hi Alex your park up next to the water was Sandside, and you're by the coast with views over towards the lakes. I live bout 7 miles from there. The sunsets are beautiful. If you'd carried on you end up in Arnside, love town by the coast great views and a fab chippy! Thanks for the trip 🙂
Been there, it’s lovely.
Happy to see you and Turtle enjoying travels. Did I miss what happened at 4am in the recap? I thought you were going to fill us in?😀
Hi Alex, turtle is going great! Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures with lovely lola😊
That was wonderful! What a joy to see Turtle on the road! Well done to you both. Driving will get easier and your arms will enjoy the ride more! It just takes time. Please try to never touch the inside of the lid of your drinking water jug. Wouldn’t want you to get sick on one of your adventures. Thanks for taking me.
💚nice little trip Alex....
Wonderful to see you and Layla. Turtle is doing well! Lovely adventure, well done! Thank you, for taking us along!
Just one piece of advice. I follow van travel videos and have seen that “Shatterproof window film” offers great peace of mind in motorhomes. It takes lots of hammering on your window to break it so gives you time to drive away also would deter break ins when you are not there . Enjoy your time on the road! 👍😁
Glad you are navigating through motor home life well, but I struggled a bit with that slightly atypical part of the lake district, missing the beautiful rounded hills and valleys which are fantastic for ramblers. One of my happy places !. ❤
It’s great fun watching your journey and how you deal with any issues in a calm manner. So pleased it’s all working out for you Alex. Love the drone shots. Looking forward to your travels.
Hey Alex, Gunna watch this in a bit but just seen u uploaded. Thanks for sharing this journey. Can't wait to see more!

Alex, I've been following your camper overhaul, so happy for you. What you accomplished is very impressive. I am looking forward to seeing your spring/summer adventures. Layla is such a beauty and so well behaved.
Love the drone shots, Alex, and Layla sitting in the driver's seat!! Your descriptions are very thorough, and they are interesting!! No apologies necessary, Alex, you are on a learning curve, and I appreciate you taking me along!!
Chuck in Northern New England
How fantastic for a first trip! You and Turtle got on well. So much fun in the future!
It’s usual that a black/grey container is used for grey water and white/clear container for fresh water for camping/caravanning and motorhoming 😊.
Great video and glad to see You, Layla, and of course Turtle are doing so well! I dont know if i maybe missed it or you decided to keep it out but I couldn't help but wonder what the 4am problem was that happened on your first night?? Hope all is well and look forward to seeing whats to come😊
Amazing! Lovely to see you using and enjoying turtle ! And, those drone shots were breathtaking !!!
Supermarket camping has worked out pretty well Alex. All the effort you put in renovating your motor home has turned out to be a really exiting venture. Layla’s loving too, I can see.
Excellent video. The Lake District is beautiful and the drone shots were fantastic. You and Laila seem very comfortable in Turtle! Looking forward to more videos of your travels.
Great to see that you got the van on the road! 👍
I am loving this journey so so happy for you😊
All I see missing is a small lightweight scooter with a rear rack/panniers for food trips (or camera gear) in town.
That was an excellent experience for you and what a beautiful place to visit! The van looks great and Layla looks happy. I love the drone shots!!
Yippie Skippy, the adventure begins... Love the yellow curtains. 🧡
Waffling and randomness lead to great adventures. Glad Lela could tag along for the maiden voyage!!!
Brilliant first adventure 😀
Hopefully, there will be many more 😊
I am so pleased for you. Your dream has come true!
So happy for you ❤enjoy every minute of it 😊
That was fun. I am looking forward to seeing more adventures in the future.
Great first adventure, Alex! Looking forward to the next.
Magical Alex, maybe you could change to Alex the magical cameraman 😊. Loved the vlog and great to see the van in action, your hard work is certainly paying off. Im sat at a campsite in Salisbury watching you up in the LD. ❤x
I love the lake district some beautiful drone shots ❤
That bath/laundry/toilet area were very clean. I wouldn't be scared of catching something in there. Very nice, clean area too.
Glad you’re now getting the benefit of turtle after all your hard work 💙💙
That’s awesome Alex that you’re now reaping the rewards for all your hard work on Turtle! Wishing you many safe journeys ahead. 😀🇦🇺
Thanks for taking us with you.

Hi Alex. Great vlog share. Delighted you are now getting chance of enjoying new adventures in turtle. The campsite did indeed look a great all rounder. £24 a night is good all price. Though im sure thats a winter rate bet it goes up lots public and school holiday periods. Anyway look forward to your next vlog share. Turtle doing you proud for an old bird.
I've read about the Lake District (in novels).
FANTASTIC, Alex!!
awww wish I'd known you were going to the lake district Alex, If you had driven further west I could have caught up with you I am only 20 minutes away from Keswick I could have showed you around some places of interest and we have sunsets to die for, if ever you are coming back let me know. the place you stayed looked lovely and glad you arrived with no problems.😄👋👍
Well done on you for takeing the first step on you on your trips ie was an enjoyable to watch Thank you .😊
I am so happy for you Alex. After all the work you've put into making your little travel home on wheels, you deserve some fun with it. I loved your comment about "..shutting down entire buildings because of using too much power". Love your videos!!!!
You are certainly getting some speed up on the straights, Alex 😊❤🇦🇺
If we never leave the Lake District except to work in France, that'd be fine with me. It's one of my favorite places to virtually visit 👏😉
Fancy new shoes! ❤
Well done Alex 👍🏾
Where I live in the US there isn't very much available for under $30 here, and definitely not for camping. You did great Alex and things are starting to run pretty smooth as well. Enjoy life and make the most of it. Some very beautiful sites around there. Have a great day and safe travels
great video, nice to see your campervan going well,

Great content mate - I only have a small old VW T25 pop top ... wouldn't mind getting something bigger ... your van seems a perfect size ..
One can easily understand how lovely the views would be on a sunny day. England has them, right? 😀 This was an enjoyable video. Thanks.
Thanks!
Congratulations getting 🐢 going out
Great to see you in the van and enjoying yourself and you deserve it!
Great video Alex. The best filming of the lake district I have seen. Nice that you have included caravan park amenities. A huge help to anyone contemplating going there. 🇦🇺

Beautiful area. I would love to visit the UK someday. Hi Layla, sweet girl. Good adventure. RVing was my late husband’s and my dream for retirement, but alas, it wasn’t ment to be. Enjoy.. will live vicariously through you.
