  • Today I am replacing the old worn-out front coil springs in my 1989 Winnebago Superchief RV which is running on top of a 1987 Chevy P30 truck chassis. I have upgraded the springs to a set of heavy duty 7200 lb limit springs.

Just a friendly tip that will extend your nine lives: Use the wheels removed to put underneath with you to buy you extra room should the jack stands fail which could be possible since 1) they are HF and 2) their only rated for 6k lbs 12 ton on a 7k weight in front. Just a thought on why women live longer then men.

In the gravel? Is not very solid.. I see leaves too so perhaps ground is damp. Something to think about before attempting.

I've been watching your videos for a couple weeks, they've been in my recommended viewing list as I've been watching other videos on class A repair work. Quite impressed with all the work you've been doing to this old rig of yours, you now have a new sub following your adventures. Man it looks like your soon to have a basically all new running gear for all the work you've been doing on Patches. It'll be a strong and long runner if you keep at it with the same enthusiasm on down the road and in the future. Hope she'll last for a long while now, so you can get some well deserved traveling done soon. You definitely deserve it after all you've put into her so far. Good work Nathan, take care of old Patches and she will take care of you. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures in future videos. Appreciate all the content you provide your viewers.Take care man, may you keep the blue skies above, and catch strong tailwinds, and let the rubber hit the road. Peace brother........... Jay

My man has a 7000 pound motorhome sitting on a couple of Harbor Freight jackstands. And a black cat crosses his path at 6:20
    Tempting fate that day lol

Nice video. I just realised that my 94 workhouse chassis has the same front end as yours. I have thought many times to do what you are doing. Hate those air bags!Noticed that you stabilizer looks worn out. Keep up the good work !

You never heat front end components you ruin the heat treatment on the parts

hows your ride with that stiff of springs now? Did you weigh the front end to order the springs accordingly?

I just inherited a 97 Class A on a P30 chassis and want to thank you for all the detailed videos you've posted of your repairs. I have to do most of the same to mine and am following in your foot steps. Getting ready to install the 7200 lb springs and wanted your thoughts on whether you think spring compressors would be a good idea (room or no room to use?) for safety...is there a risk of the spring popping out and whacking something or somebody?

Just had my front end weighed at a truck station. Mines bigger then yours and only around 5k pounds per corner. Did your springs make the ride rough? Did it raise the height of your front? Thank you sir

supposed to weigh and purchase springs accordingly, I believe supersteer is the only company that has springs for correct weight in 200 pound increments. They are who I am going with

This was a good vid to watch but as long as you had this down this far you should've replaced the A arm bushings as well.....seems like a waste of time not to.
