Dude, I was 17 (I’m 25 now) when I was watching these videos on how to work on my first car which was a 92 M6 C4 Targa top and I remember watching all your videos for any tips or tricks. Can’t believe how your channel has blown up completely!! Congrats again man! Well done.
I'm working on a 1992 ZR1 Corvette with the same problem, I ran the diagnostics
as shown in your video, it came up with an 03 code (same as you show) Sure enough, the connector came loose. Plugged it back in and back in business! Thank you for your excellent video and explanation Chris! Rich
And a god was born
This guy is for real, thanks Chris, you are very helpful.

I knew the engine fault code check with the bridged OBD-like connector and dash display. I knew the engine RPM through HVAC. But I did not know HVAC showed all these other functions. Thanks!!
Ha!
GTFO! That A/C display showing different "parameters" is a trip, man!
I had NO idea it even did that.
Crazy....
BTW: That's a really clean Corvette.
Thanks
I have not driven my ZR-1 yet,
but i had the same code 3 and the temp sensor was unplugged, maybe for decades. It will be a dream come true if the a/c works. i also have a blend door issue aiming hot air right up my middle while I drive. If I can disconnect it and shut the door, I will.
Great video, thanks
Did you clean the front of radiator ? Mine was running hot also , they say a c4 is like a giant vacuum cleaner rolling down the road
Hi Chris, thanks for your help. The problem was a short on the ac compressor power line. Thanks again.
FELIX M AGUILU SR. Awesome! Glad you found the problem! Thanks for the update!
Awesome video and very informative..! I have a 95 c4 with less than 90,000 original miles and this morning we had our 1st cold snap and I couldn't get the heater to work.... any ideas?
Gracias Chris, excelente video y tips, yo tengo un C4 1994. Pregunta como logro ver la temperatura en mi tablero, debajo del odometro digital, no se visualiza o quizás hay que configurar algo ?.. Saludos desde Chile..
wow this is great help because i have a 1990 model and i believe the digital coolant temp was not available yet so this way would be working because everybody tells me the analog is not so precise and i have hi coolant temp issue.
Hi Chris saw your Climate Control video. Learn some good tip but was not able to solve the problem I have on my 91 C4. The A/C fuse blows up, climate control (cc) panel inop.Replaced fuse A/C, A/C and CC works. After ten minutes of operation, fuse blows again. Saw the speedometer panel blinking ("sys" a for three sec. and then change to "70") when I turn the key on to start the engine. Please help.
Thanks
Felix A
Thank you for the information 😊
thanks Chris
tengo poco que compre mi Corvette 91 y pensaba que no servía el a/a y seguí tu guía y listos
gracias desde México
Really helpful. My problem is that below 75 it wont blow air into the driver area. Weird, but starting the debugging. Salvage car, but running!
Good Stuff. Wow. Mines been sitting in garage for over 4 years because I'm CS to work on it. This helps
+Charles Turnage Glad the video was helpful!
Hi Chris I have a 2011 xc volvo suv and I would like to do maintenance on it. It has 139k . Just wondering if you have ever worked on a electronic parking brake . Look on videos and it looks like it done with a computer tool , Also have to replace main belt. Hope your available for answering and thanks
Hi Chris, I have 92 Vette 23k original miles 1 owner garage kept. and just changed the battery. The On light was flashing then stopped. I checked the codes which read 00 -00 Connector is connected for the outside air sensor however no cold air seems to be blowing. The compressor clicks on and off every 5 seconds or so. Any ideas? Thanks.
I changed the thumbnail pic from google images on the corvette climate control repair video I made. Thanks for letting me know Chris.
Ozzstar Thank you.
Awesome. Didn't know of this feature. I have no codes on my 95 c4 but climate control system won't let me use defrost?? Any ideas? Thanks
Wow, Chris! Your videos are the best! :) How are you so helpful and informative?!
Thanks! I just try teach people when I fix my own cars. I enjoy the comments and helping people out! Thanks for the comment!
You just saved me time and money thanks!
Awesome!
Hey, what’s up, Chris? I was wondering if you could help me out with this one, I also have a C4 Corvette. I have a 92 and I have no power going to the fuse and no power going to the compressor. I checked the fuse panel on the passenger side door and it has no power. Is there another source of power where I could look at?
Hi, I have 1994 and i pressed the up and down arrows and suer enough the double zeros popped up in the window . I pressed the Auto button and I get nothing. It just goes back to "Dot Dash Dash". Any suggestions, I would appreciate it, thxs
Where did you get that chart? Thanks for the video
richcory I know this is late , but it’s in the corvette service manual the dealership uses.
Can I get a copy? Great video btw! Thanks!
Very cool Chris!! Very useful info. Thanks for posting!
Thanks and no problem! I will have a new one out soon on how to replace the center console and spring inside the button for the center console.
Thanks ! ! ✔✔👍👍✔✔
Thx Chris u gave me a start- flashing Auto button- mech charged AC, compressor does not come on, sends me to el specialist who finds engine bay plug showing voltage when grounded AC works- wants to gaffe me a toggle grounding switch $150 via the door to start compressor vs. he says HVAC programming module behind instrument panel not sending grounding signal to compressor as works when jumped for $1500
Seems like there may be a more accessible simple fix to this grounding only solution?
Do you put bulb grease in your connectors when you put them back together?
Thanks for the helpful video.
Great video you may be able to help me the light something flashes above the off button but there are no codes displayed the a/c was recharged in Nov 14 still working but does not seem to blow out as cold as it did
Is there any chance you can post a pic or where to find the list of engine parameters that can be seen on the climate controls?
The codes are listed in the description.
HI Chris, i just change new water pump, thermostat new on my c4 1992...but the the temp still up to 250 degree i don't know what the problem. So i need your advise to solved the problem, thank bro.
Dan Ha make sure to bleed the air out of the system. Also might be the water pump going out. I just changed mine in my 95 vette.
Can you do a video on how to remove the instrument panel on a 1993 vette. ( gauges and lcd) or post a link that does. My lcd screen is dim and I found a place that sells rebuilt ones. Thanks
Love your Vett video's....................I have a key ignition cylinder that sticks when pulling the key out.....How would you deal with that ???? It's a 89'vett.
Hm, maybe something like this: amzn.to/28Ny296
Chris, I have a 1990 Corvette, when I use the stereo, it blows the a fuse or something to the climate control, what's going on with it? Thanks.
C4 power surging and shuts off sometimes when idling. Any suggestions on how to fix this. Started to do this when I had some a c work done.
Great job, thank you for your time and valuable information. The videos you post take time and resources which we benefit from, thanks again!.
Dan C No problem Dan! I am glad the videos are helpful!
Getting ready to change the oil sending unit(leaking) on my '94 Vette. Any tips?
Chris, thanks for tip on interior temp sensor. That was the problem, but having difficulty in finding a new one. Do you know where I might find one.
Also is there anything in the aspirator hose that would need looking at? Can't find anything on the hose...
Thanks
+Ron Routt Might want to check ecklers, ebay, mid america, or a junkyard!
I had checked all of them and a few more, ebay does have a used one. Will try it. Thanks again for good help...
Thanks, I have a manual slider in my 95' and I'm glad because I have an auto in my 2004 truck and it is a pain in the ass.
Haha, I like the climate control in the Vette! Easy to use and works really well!
Isnt there a way to see the speed of the car on the HVAC display?
The amount of lights and buttons in there... wow 😜
I have a 86 vette and the blower motor runs on low speed only is there a fix for that.
Chris thanks for the video on the A/C control unit. I am having issues with the unit responding to button/controls pushed. The only buttons that cause the A/C to come on is the Auto and Upper Vent. I can't turn the unit off, increase/decrease temp or fan speed, etc. Is this an indication that I need a new control unit? Thanks for your consideration. John
John Buehrig Sounds like you need a new control unit. Does the light flash like in this video?
hey chris i have a 91 corvette with a SYS flashes on my dash do you know what that is and how to turn that off?
Chris, you da man, nice work matey
That is cool? What kind of book or manual are you using?
Have a 94 Vette and with air cond set at 70 degrees and automatic, the fan will reduce to 2 or 3 and temp has only reached ab out 74 degrees and will just get hotter in car when driving, although there is cold air. You can switch to recirculate and fan will run at correct speed and temp will reach about 70. Can you tell me why will not cool in auto as it should?
Thanks
+Ron Routt The interior temp sensor is probably not working.
hell ya just fixed my ac with this video thanxs bunches
CC does not flash as noted in video. Plan to pull tomorrow, disassemble, clean contact and see if this fixes issue. Will keep you posted.
John Buehrig Def keep me posted and good luck. Hopefully it isnt the unit!
THX!
Are there fuses in behind the radio and Climate control?
Awesome info Chris keep em coming..I am new to the corvette world and these videos are perfect for me to learn from so thanks again.Hey Chris can a big 3 alternator and battery wiring be done on a 1990 convertible corvette? Where can i get a copy of the codes that you had at the very end of your video? nice job Chris thanks.
I have a 94 corvette, my a/c control module has 3 bars, 1 small and 2 large. The blower motor blows all the time. I would really appreciate any help in fixing this problem.
Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the exact same problem in my '96 collectors edition. No error codes.
Hey Chris, I got a '91 Corvette, and recently it has been having some problems with the transmission, and we did a flush, but it didn't fix it, you know how to use this if I can get some sort of error code and look it up, like a diagnostic test? And I liked ur vid! Great stuff! Just would like to know what I need to do because it could be something in the motor or computer too. Just anything you could do to help me out would be great! Thank you!
Try this: www.corvettebuyers.com/c4vettes/codes.htm
hi Chris,i have a 1989 C4 with the electronic climate control and this doesnt seem to work on my vette. The climate control is different than the one in your video and just reads 0 when you hold down both fan controls. It wont go into a diagnostic mode.Does this work on older C4s?Thanks Joe
What GM book did you get the codes from?
Very cool video I did not know the car had this capability ! Does the same apply to my 1993 Corvette ? Thanks for the tips
Yes it applies if it has climate control.
Is this book a book they sell at auto zone ?
Is there a way to reset the codes other than driving it?
Hey Chris, awesome site and have used info on several of your C4 videos. My 94 Corvette has developed a problem and was wondering if you could provide me some assistance. My climate control works fine with temp display working properly and fan blower correctly increases and decreases with the temp in the car. The problem I have is the A/C is not nor is the heat increasing or decreasing from the vents when adjusting the temp on the climate control. Feels like normal outside temp coming thru the vents which will not increase or decrease when changing the display temps on the climate control. You have any suggestions? Thanks a lot! Leo
+Leo Johnson Check on the passenger side under the black fuel rail cover is a small black cylinder with vacuum hoses attached. That commonly cracks due to age and it will prevent the vent doors from opening and closing properly which might give you a mixture of hot and cold air.
I know this is a old video. But I have a 92 and getting a “8” code. Your list doesn’t have number 8. Any idea?
these are the codes you would get at number 0
01 / Temperature Door Motor Circuit Fault
02 / Temperature Door Motor Circuit Fault
03 / Ambient Sensor Open
04 / Ambient Sensor Short
05 / In-Vehicle Temperature Sensor Open
06 / In-Vehicle Temperature Sensor Short
07 / Solar Load Sensor Open
08 / Solar Load Sensor Short
09 / Low Freon Detected
10 / UART Failure
If only he knew back than that he would become the biggest car channel on TH-cam. Trumping Top Gear.
Does this apply on the 95 Corvette?
No flashing light and both of the hoses are hot a/c works not really cold but ok and the air comes out of all the different positions on the unit
Mine returned a code 08, which is not listed on the manual you posted, lol, so now what?
my old 95 Buick road master did this fun fact also had the same engine as your c4 a 5.7l lt1
great video. Have you done one for changing Opti Spark? Mine is faulty (Arrrgh) have just ordered a new one from RockAuto, due to be delivered from US by Dec 6. I have a friend who will do the work but would love to be able to do it myself.
Thanks. I dont have an optispark video (mine is a 96 so it is vented/ the best opti they made. But I do have this which is 90% of the work to get to the opti:
How to change the waterpump.
How To: Water Pump Replacement LT1
You are going to have to take the waterpump off (might want to replace it as well if you already have it off)... Then the opti comes off...
ChrisFix Thanks Chris, looking at the video on that link you sent think I'll leave it to my friend, bit beyond my means ;-)
It's not that bad but I get it! Well, good luck and thanks for watching!
This is something to show my uncle with his 1993 corvette 40th anniversary
Excellent video... Fixed my problem... Thanks a million!!
Maverick scooter doc Great! Glad the video helped fix your problem! What was wrong?
Took the car up and had it cleaned and detailed. When I got it back the defroster was on full blast . None of the buttons on the HVAC control were responsive. It's like it was disconnected or needed to be rebooted. Drove it home and looked up your video on my phone, accessing the trouble codes seemed to unlock the system and it now responds normally... turns off, air conditioner heater and temp all work normally.... Thanks again!!
huh, interesting!
great vid, Im going to use the content today!
Nice job Chris.
Bob Page Thank you Bob
Hello Chris great video I love the c4 Corvette I'd like to ask you what did you get all the codes? Is there a website I can go and download those codes myself? Thanks for posting these videos. I like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving you have a great day!
Thanks! I dont know where you can get them. They are in a GM service manual I purchased. I did put them in the video so you can just pause in that spot and see what the code is. It is also at the end.
Happy Thanksgiving as well!
Hi chris I really love your video it is a sown but Could you plz do som feel coding like for Volkswagen Scricco like this one which is coming to my car p1698 p10a0 p0122
I have a c4 Corvette my controls seem to be stuck in defrost can I get it to come out vent
I have a problem with my Climate Control. The fan runs on high speed and I can do the code stat thing but I cannot turn off the blower or change any other of the settings on the Climate Control such as auto, off, defrost, rear defrost etc. Any thoughts on where to start looking for the problem
+turbovette426 Sounds like it is a defective climate control unit.
Hey crish can u help me out my corvette is a 94 corvette and my heater dont work but my water hoses are hot im not sure if is the climate control unit or what please help me out if you can thank you
Is there a flashing light like in this video? There are hoses that go in and out of your firewall under the coolant holding tank. Are both of those hoses hot? If one is cool and the other is hot, you might have a problem with your heater core. Does your AC work? Can you get the air to flow out of just the bottom vents, just the top vents, and then both vents?
I changed out my compressor, drier, etc on my 1990 Corvette and converted to R134. Any idea why my switch keeps blowing a fuse. Do I need to reset the ECU?
Keith Bluestein I couldnt tell you why without looking at it. Did you put the correct amount of refrigerant in? Is the compressor the same as the old one? You dont need to reset the ECU.
ChrisFix Hi Chris it is a new reman compressor two wires on it. Do you need the exact amount of refrigerant? What would cause the fuse to blow?
If you overfill the refrigerant it can cause the fuse to blow
Thank you
Great video, thanks, turns out my outside temp sensor was unplugged also.
Air temp Resister is thermister. 😊
Hi ..
from can i get the cod book that you are using
Nice type of climate control and useful
where is the Sun Load Sensor located on a 1994 c4 Corvette
Good stuff
hey where is the ac heater blend door located on a 1990 corvette
Heyo Mr. Fixit..what manual r u using
I have the GM C4 Corvette shop manual
Where do you get the book with all the codes
Great video! My cruise control does not work. Any help would be appreciated!
Common problem. There is a vacuum hose near your battery that could of come off. Very common when a battery has been replaced
Right above your battery there is a round unit that should have 2 hoses running to it. Check to see that there is 2 hoses connected to it
Nice video
okay maybe you can help me my corvette only blows ac i have full control on all buttons but it always blows ac
please help
Thanks for he video man help me alot thanks again
Awesome! Glad the video helped! Give it a thumbs up if you havent already (it helps me out)! Thanks!
Hey Chris, you still have the Vette?
Fkin awesome!! Does this also work on different models (88)?
I believe so!
@@chrisfix definitely going to try that when the battery arrives! Thanks man, your videos are helping a lot!!
hey Chris nice stuff here!!! i am wondering what makes the difference in HP between LT! ;96 and 98 they report 30 to 50 hp difference my guess is computer and exhaust thx for the answer!
With the camaro? I am unsure. With the Vette, the last LT1 was in 96, but the LT4 had 330hp because of better heads and air flow.
ChrisFix
that makes good scene but really took them that long with all the tech stuff!!! i have owned a nice GTA 88 black on black all stock just ran 3 1/2 alum exhaust with coil upgrade and KN filter it was a beast !for a stock that is.......
I am looking at and all black 96 vette look to check out all your good vids here.....
thx Mark
Good luck with the Vette. I caution you to stay away from black. You will never be happy with the car because it will always look dirty. Then when you clean it, you will be afraid to clean it because it scratches so easy!
ChrisFix
like i said had an 88 GTA used a Teflon application to solve that issue! but check this out here r the stats diff from LT 1 vs LT 4
www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm
That is pretty neat. Many people say that the LT4 was under-rated because the new LS1 was coming out. Many people say it really has 360-380hp at the crank.
Thanks Chris, looking at the video on that link you sent think I'll leave it to my friend, bit beyond my means ;-)
I changed out my compressor, drier, etc on my 1990 Corvette and converted to R134. Any idea why my switch keeps blowing a fuse. Do I need to reset the ECU?
