Yes, this place has a very long title that is where it is and that is what it is.
This is simply one of the most amazing places I've ever seen in my life.
The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is Extinct Volcano!
It a UNESCO World Heritage site and rightly so.
It is considered a caldera not a crater because people live in it and with the animals.
The Maasai live in the caldera, and herd cattle right along with the lions and Hyenas and they have for thousands of years.
Therefore, the Ngorongoro Crater area is not considered a National Park but is considered a conservation zone since people are allowed to live in it.
If I could pick one place in Africa that I would go this would be it, I've been to several of the national parks, and nothing compared to this World Heritage.
A extinct volcano filled with life, Arthur Conan Doyle would have loved this place.

Planning to go to Tanzania soon. I was checking Packages with Serena Lodges (Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara) Do you recommend Serena lodges and their Game Drives ?
