- Amboseli is one of the most beautiful areas of Kenya. From the lush planes and incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the background there is truly nothing else like it. But what does it look like during the Kenyan rainy season? Let's find out!

For this safari adventure, we are staying at the Ol Tukai Lodge one of the most famous safari camp in Amboseli National Park and maybe even Kenya. This safari lodge is fairly affordable and very nice for the price. The large, two story lounge is the highlight with its style and of course the view of Kili.
In terms of food, Ol Tukai safari camp has an amazing buffet with a large of variety of food which we truly appreciated at every single meal. The live cooking station also added a lot to the meal experiences.
Now rainy season... And we went during the long rainy season too in January. The reality is that we saw less wildlife as usual. We have done many safaris inside the Amboseli National Park which was extremely successful with lions, cheetahs, elephants and more but this time was a bit different. The heavy rains around Amboseli are making large quantities of water drain into the National Park keeping animals away, especially during morning hours. With that being said, lots of them seems to be coming into the park later in the afternoon where we had much more success and saw everything from elephants to hyenas, zebras and hippos. And because of that, we still think that the experience is worth it. Don't forget too that this period of the year is outside of high season meaning that most safari experiences are cheaper therefor more accessible for a lot of people.
Overall a fun weekend which proves the argument that there is no bad time to visit Kenya. You might simply get a different experience which for sure will be worth it! we even finished our safari trip with a little self drive safari where we saw a super tusker elephant!

I’m soooo happy to see that it’s raining! We were there in August 2022, and it was so dry. The only water was from the runoff from Kilimanjaro. Wildebeest, Zebra and other animals were dying from a lack of grazing food, and water. The elephants were destroying all the acacia forests, for food. The one big surprise was the bird life. It was magnificent! We stayed at the Elewana Tortelis camp. It was truly magical. We’re planning a return in 2025. Love your vids!

We were in south africa in sept/oct and it was 98 degrees when we got there. Rained over night and dropped to 45 degrees and rain for the next 4 days. Our truck had no top and it was pouring but we had a great time and still saw many animals! The camp we stayed at was absolutely amazing (one of our favorites of the 11 african countries we have been to). We are heading to kenya in august (fingers crossed). Have you been to ole pejeeta/laikipia area?

I just saw your video about Safaris in the rainy season. It caught my eye because I stayed at the Old Tukai Lodge and I was there around June 5&6 2015. There couldn’t have been more than 15 people total at that time so I got to know the staff very well. It was nice to not to have to fight any crowds. I enjoy your videos and continued good luck to both of you.

Ok, so you went in January. We were just outside Amboseli in February of 2023, in Chyulu hills area, and it was DRY!!!!!!! We booked our next Safari in November of 2025, the beginning of the " short rains" and hoping the rain won't be too terrible, but as you mentioned in the video, we saved almost $1,000 / night, and got a stay 4 pay for 3 nights deal, which is allowing us to stay 12 nights at 2 properties in Mara conservansies , and 3 nights in Lewa ( per your video of Lewa Safari camp)
If you have any videos of Safari in November, please let me know, I'll watch it immediately. It's nice to see green in Amboseli, they sure needed it 😊🌍🐘
We for sure have some! Simply look at the date posted. Everything posted in late Nov and early Dec was film in November and we have done so for the last 3 years so you most likely have 5 or 6 videos to watch! :p

During rainy season in amboseli animals tend to hide due to plenty of food and water.

I would say so. You might be there when the short rain season starts which is no big deal. I normally rains daily but for a very short period of the day.
