Hi, former Dell veteran here. Solid amber means there's something wrong with the motherboard, power supply, or it possibly could even be a CPU issue. The good thing is you at least solved that issue, I would check the front diagnostic lights (numbered 1-4) to see where the boot process went wrong. And if it still doesn't work, the only solace is at least you got a for parts machine with perfectly working drives.

Don't put your face so close to boards in the oven because those caps can pop pretty violently from heat. Dell computers got diagnostic lights on the front near the usb ports that tell you what's wrong
Violently just means you get sprayed with hot oil all over your face. If you've ever fried something before and got oil splashed on you from popping in the pan, not pleasant especially on the face so yeah I would take this advice 😂
@@megatronskneecap They spark and they throw out tiny bits of plastic too so i guess it can't be good for your eyes either so it's not just the hot oil. They are very similar to a firecracker
A serious attemt at recovering a computer might better include a check list of items to check to see if booting might be an option, and not include any dangerous recommendation like cooking a wet motherboard that some other viewer might follow and hurt themselves or even burn their house down. Unless someone has said this already that ME disabled sticker likely pertains to the original owner / wherever the original owner got this computer disabling the Intel Management Engine
Either hunting them down on marketplaces, or having someone contact you. That's what happened to me. Got 4 dell's for 35 quid. 1 was a dell precision with a xeon 1280 v2
I can't, first water, then a hard brush and then an oven at 200 degrees, are You normal? all the plastic and solder will fall off and You've got the board... Couldn't You have done it differently? It's a waste of equipment.

yeah, the 7xx series was prone to mb failure. I remember servicing loads of 755 before the recall
that diagnostic led are useful. i had a 740 which died. processor died.

2:44, i think it's the psu, because i had a dell optiplex too (not the same model) and it did the same thing, i used another psu and it worked fine !

if you do get it working i would greatly suggest getting a Core 2 Quad for this machine

Water really isn't a problem as long as you let it dry properly.
