Honestly, there was really no need for her in ASM2. I think the choice was exactly what they said. The Gwen and Peter romance was the one that was focal and important to the story. I know they weren't making the movie where Harry and Peter were actually meant to come off as believable friends, but I kind of wish that the movie ended with Pete and Gwne helping Harry and IMPLYING Harry would take a villainous turn. If they had to kill Gwen off (like I said I think it was a bad choice to kill her, don't try to force lightning to strike twice. Andrew and Emma's chemistry was the best part of these movies so forcing MJ to show up just invites scrutiny and would look tacky and trivial) at least have Harry do it when the audience will FEEL like he's more than a 1-dimensional side character. The way it turned out, we have Gwen a very lovable and focused on character, who's essentially a co-star to Peter in the movies, get killed by a stupid underdeveloped rushed villain whose heel-turn motivation is dumb and forced.
@@Nightman221k it felt like the director was getting alot of input on what should happen and he couldn't say no to all of it. I'd really like Andrew Garfield to get one more shot, he's a cool dude and you can tell he's a huge spiderman fan
@@keithmichael112 Right? Honestly, I wish that No Way Home's displacement of people who knew Spider-man's secret identity would mean that Gwen and her father would get a second chance to live. I'd like more of Peter and Gwen together since it'd make sense for two allies who knew his identity to also be pulled from the universe just like the villains. Peter would have to confront the fact that he didn't keep his vow to Cpt. Stacy to leave Gwen out of it. Facing the man whose vow he broke with the most tragic result, and Gwen obviously would always choose to stand by Peter. Peter would be so guilt-ridden that he would adamantly refuse to put her in harm's way again... but maybe she'd use her genetic knowledge to become Spider-Woman/Ghost-Spider as her own decision. Then he'd have a partner to help him fight the sinister six and they'd both get payback for Harry murdering her.
I'm definitely not apposed to a third installment of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man. It would be interesting if they explored his darker days after losing Gwen like he mentioned in No Way Home.
I think it’s better that we didn’t get ASM3 the way it would’ve been done had it come out just a year or so after ASM2. It makes it more poignant that Peter spent a whole decade trying to make sense of the tragic loss of Gwen. Rather than if he somehow moved on between ASM2 and ASM3. Personally, I don’t think it’s necessary that Peter try to find love again after such a terrible loss. It’s frankly irresponsible to do that when his first love died violently and suddenly due to him involving her in his life. It makes him selfish. I’d prefer him to not endanger anyone after having lost Gwen.
As we saw in NWH, Andrew Garfield is a DAMN good Spiderman. Please, give him another movie but this time hire better writers. He's brilliant, but he can't do it alone.
I have never really been in to super heroes, so I had never seen any of the spiderman movies. But, you know, Tom Holland's spiderman visiting the Netherlands made me give it a chance and I was suprised by how much I enjoyed that movie. So I went back and watched all the spidey films to that point (no No Way Home) in a few days. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, Holland and Maguire were amazingly fun to watch, but Garfield tops them both. Haven't read the comics, so I won't say he's the 'best' spiderman, but he is easily the most enjoyable.
With no way home Andrew getting a 3rd movie may not happen cause of the movie cause Disney could trying and block it cause if shared claims it’s why Tom is actually based off of miles morales and some character’s are not exactly who they are supposed to be like Zendaya is Mary Jane but not quite the Peter version we know and Ned is the miles version Sony did it so if they wanted to do another go at the Spider-Man cinematic universe they could used the actual Peter and his friends family and rouges gallery without Disney stepping in and trying to claim characters under the partnership
No. Let the DIRECTOR do his JOB. It was Avi Arad and Amy Pascal, who were telling and forcing Marc Webb to do the movies their way. And it was pretty annoying because web put his heart and soul into making these movies only to have it turn into garbage. I blame Sony for The Amazing Spider-Man movies failing.
While I’m okay with them cutting her out, I do wish they had an extended cut or released some of those deleted scenes. If they can put out the scene with Peter’s father, surely they can release not only Woodley’s scenes, but also Martin Sheen’s and Chris Zylka’s.
I think it made sense from a story aspect to take her out. People clicked with Gwen and I think fans would’ve reacted even worse if they kept her in because it could make it seem like they were trading Gwen out for Mj. Also keeping her out allowed for the film to focus on Peter and Gwen’s relationship without it feeling cramped
Gwen is a overall better character anyway they should have killed her in the third one got rid of all villains except Electrico and focused on that spy aspect again in the second one.
I agree with this. The web work in the marvel movies is good but definitely not as good a TASM. The closest they get to matching it in the MCU is Civil War.
One thing I sort of noticed is that the face for the video game Mary Jane resembles Shailene’s. It always seemed like an homage to the role she never got to be seen in.
Probably more like the game was being developed while the film was being shot and by the time she got cut, the game was too far along to bother going back and changing it.
Honestly, the chemistry between Gwen and Peter in ASM2 (yes, I know they were dating irl) is unmatched to this day. Their relationship was so believable that MJ couldn't have done anything but detract.
It was terrible. One of the absolute worst parts of the movies. "I'm sorry I didn't take you to the Bahamas of hiding spots." What is this? A Spiderman movie or an episode of Seinfeld?
Having MJ in the movie would have taken away from the Peter and Gwen too much. They had such good chemistry it was nice to see their story play out completely.
How the events of NWH played out. It would be great to see the aftermath of it in ASM3. Since Andrew's character got closure in a way, the writers could play it in a way for Andrew to run into MJ in his universe. For them to cultivate a friend and eventually a romantic relationship. First Andrew is skeptical and resistant, to slowly embracing it, through hopefully a few films. I feel that would give much justice to the overall story arch.
I still think it was way too early to do Gwen Stacy's death..and i think the best way to approach Mary Jane was to make her friends with Peter and Gwen and let her be a rebel and carefree and instead of making her a competition for Gwen, make her a supportive friend for both of them so that when Gwen's death did happen it would lead to Peter and Mary Jane being support for each other through their shared trauma..and that guilt that Peter has for Gwen's death making him isolate himself from everyone while Mary Jane tries and pushes him to be better for himself and others..that was the way in the comics and it was portrayed greatly in Spectacular SpiderMan animated show..they could have done more of this stuff mentioned had they more seasons...it would have been better to reboot this animated show on Disney+ instead of that Freshman Year show
spectacular spider-man is really the best media for spider-man it does everything so well.. the only downside is using tombstone as kingpin instead of using fisk, but i think they wanted to do a proper origin story for fisk
Like the video said, Shailene’s career has actually been really good. Before this, she had already headlined her own show, The Secret Life of an American Teenager, and received high praise for the movies The Descendants and The Spectacular Now. After this, while much can be said about the failure of the Divergent films, she’s also had more acclaim from The Fault in Our Stars, and even received an Emmy nomination for Big Little Lies. I doubt she regrets that much - except dating Aaron Rodgers, of course.
Not gonna lie, not only is Woodley a great casting choice, I’m kinda bummed we didn’t get her as at least a friend of Gwen, someone who was there for Peter when Harry couldn’t be. If they got an Amazing Spider Man 3, it would have been cool seeing MJ be there for him as another ear for his problems, he’s struggling with letting go of Gwen and guilt of what her father said coming through and fighting against a new Spider Man villain that challenges mind and body. Could have even ended it like Spider Man blue with Peter making a tape to ask Gwen for forgiveness, telling her about his burgeoning feelings for MJ and signing off with a final I Love You.
I'm glad they didn't have her in the film. From what it sounds like, she and peter were gonna have a thing almost immediately when he already had Gwen. They should've introduced her as a friend first and then a romantic interest after Gwen not during. Homecoming did it right where MJ wasn't of interest to peter until after Liz went away. Reimi's Peter liked MJ immediately sure, but she was a childhood crush and he wasn't in a relationship
Honestly I enjoyed ASM2 despite it being extremely bloated of content, honestly the Gwen and Peter relationship and the rise of Electro is the best parts of the film, when they tried to throw in the Osborns and the Green Goblin, there was no build up and no reason for him to show up and crash the party as he did, like that simply ruined the film and just didn't work as a twist, like if the film ended with Spidey and Gwen defeating Electro and with the Osborn presence to be minimized to the point of no Green Goblin, then it would've been fine, honestly I've been quite curious about the cut MJ scenes in ASM2 since there was talk about it publicly back in the day and I'm honestly happy to this discussed cause the whole Andrew Garfield Spider-Man situation is a wild one and I really do hope Andrew Garfield could do Amazing Spider-Man 3 at some point, cap off his story at least.
I preferred the newer love interest as like you pointed out differentiates itself from it's past interpretation I believe after 2 she would have been introduced for the Symbiote Saga or Sinister Six movie for TASM 3 and 4
I bet it was to not undercut the death of Gwen combined with a big payday change if Woodley was even on screen for a second. A cleaner story and less cost.
It is actually really touching to imagine a scenario where, after seeing Holland's Parker with his "MJ" and hearing about how Tobey's Parker had an "MJ".....that we could see a disillusioned and lonely Garfield in his own world, meeting HIS Mary Jane Watson for the first time, and wholesomely referring to her as "MJ" for the first time. Gosh, that would be pretty fantastic.
Eh. I think they could have fit her in during the drawn out time lapse of Peter mourning Gwen, maybe to give that little glimmer of hope that he will move on and someday love again, then show the Rhino scene to show that he is ready to get back out there and be the hero the city needs. Maybe MJ could have said something about the city missing Spider-Man or needing him, despite what JJ Jameson and his follows say. Perhaps her name drop could be after seeing “MJ” on her name tag and he asks her name. I suppose for the average movie goer it would be unnecessary, but the ending felt like the writers didn’t know what to do next aside from setting up for a cinematic universe. Personally, I hate when things are essentially retconned just to meet pacing expectations. I’m glad books aren’t treated that way. If they put in the effort to hire actors and film something, or in the case of Star Wars, have the CGI worked for a scene, just finish it! This is why books are proofread, but I guess scripts aren’t? I digress.
I figure they'd have her in the 3rd. But I'd love to see a Spider-Man set of movies were he ends up with Felicia, seeing as how we'll never get it in comics.
According to the writers in a 2014 interview, they discussed what was cut from the film and MJ's role... "As we all know Shailene Woodley was cast as Mary Jane Watson, shot some days and then was cut from the movie. The original script includes all of the MJ scenes, and she's introduced as the Parker's new next door neighbor. Her dad is an abusive drunk and she's a waitress who builds motorcycles in her spare time. She has a Spider-Man tattoo on her wrist, and she's clearly interested in Peter, who is totally hung up on Gwen. At one point Spider-Man confronts MJ's dad, telling him to lay off the girl. At the end of the script Gwen comes to Peter's house before heading to London; he's gone but she meets the new neighbor. They have a friendly exchange and MJ says that she always attracts dickheads and asks Gwen what her advice is to get a guy like Peter. 'Date a nerd,' Gwen says before heading off to die, basically giving MJ the okay to get with Peter."
I hope I'm not the only person in the world who loves the original Sam Raimi trilogy, I love all 3 films equally even though the 3rd film gets a lot of hate. I was 8 when the first film was released and 13 when the 3rd one was released. Those movies are my childhood favorites so you can only imagine how loud I cheered when Toby made his appearance in the multiverse!!!
They made the right call with removing Mary Jane from TASM 2. Her being in the film would have distracted Gwen's death. Shailene Woodley is a perfect cast for Mary Jane. And while there are a few clips online of her being filmed in the movie, I wish we could watch official footage of her on screen so we can hear the dialogue she was saying to Peter and Gwen. The only existing footage in the final film is at the end when Rhino appears in which is shown at 5:00 with her watching the car get crushed. I also read that Peter would find out how abusive Mary Jane's dad was, so he would hang him upside down when he steps outside the house and tells him to treat Mary Jane with respect. If would have been interesting to see MJ appear in TASM 3 and Peter tries to save her, thus redeeming himself after what happened to Gwen. Just like how he redeemed himself in NWH with saving MJ from falling off the Statue of Liberty. Since Tobey's Peter mentioned to Andrew's Peter that he's with his own MJ back in his universe, Andrew's Peter now knows that his soulmate in his universe will be named MJ. Since Andrew is in talks to return as his version of Spider-Man, maybe we can see Shailene Woodley officially make her on screen appearance as Mary Jane so we can know that Peter will be happy with someone.
@ 3:10 Like Vigo Mortensen for LOTR, another rare case of the higher ups stepping in for the better. It was already iffy enough that TASM portrayed Peter as the ONLY one who could become spidey when an essential part to Spider-Man is that anyone can put on the mask. Anyone can do good. I’m glad they minimized it as best they could, I honestly think they coulda got away with rewriting that plot line of his blood being the only capable one entirely. But at least his parents weren’t damn spies.
Wtf are you talking about? No. Only Peter Parker can be Spiderman. Putting anyone else as Spiderman is like trying to put someone other than Clark Kent as super man or someone other than Bruce Wayne as Batman. It absolutely IS NOT part of Spiderman than "anyone can put on the mask". That's absolute crap.
Removing MJ from ASM2 makes sense. Woodley is a great actress, but the movie already had enough stuffed into it. But the casting chemistry was superb; Garfield and Watson did well together, and if there had been a third movie, I can definitely see Woodley fitting in well. Glad Garfield got a proper send off. It's obvious he had a ton of fun in No Way Home.
It’s crazy to think how the three Spider-Man versions we have seen on screen resemble the 3 original versions from the animated series ( animated series, spectacular Spider-Man, and Mtv’s Spider-Man tv series). Was the blueprint
If the last scene of Peter watching that Gwen speech took place in the coffee shop that MJ was a barista, maybe somehow it worked. Like, maybe Peter drank too much coffee and saw that video in that cafe every day after the funeral and caught MJ’s attention. Then maybe they watched that video together and MJ gave that push from that video to make Peter back in action. Could be a better one than none.
From what we learned in the Sony hack of 2015 we learn Amy pascal just wanted a cinematic universe just to be able to do a female lead movie there wasn’t a plan for the universe aside from her female lead movie like she was obsessed with doing that movie and not really caring about setting up the universe and do world building and when the amazing Spider-Man 2 tanked she got mad thst her passion project wasn’t happening until she found ghostbusters the other successful franchise they had but the amazing Spider-Man 2 feels like Spider-Man 3 all over again where she demanded the movie to more then the run time would allow like setting up the sandman introducing Harry’s goblin introducing the symbiont and it effecting Peter introducing Eddie Brock and having him get the symbiont and become venom in one movie but in reality it should have been a 2 part movie to give room for all Amy pascal was demanding cause Spider-Man the animated series from the 90’s did a version of Spider-Man 3 and did it better
Robert Orci... Everywhere I turn, I see his face.... I swear, every show and movie I watch, he's there. Scorpion, TASM, Arrow, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, Agents Of Shield, ect. What is it with this guy and always being involved in superhero stuff?
Ya wanna know the real reason. It’s because Sony was desperate to make billions and when the set images of Shailene hit online and she wasn’t “super model status” the studio panicked and thought ppl may not go see the film so they cut her.
An none of that matters because ultimately the problem is that Alex Kurtzman has never written anything even decent in his career, TASM2 had no chance.
I feel like everything they tried to shove into tasm2 could have been material for at least two fully fleshed out movies instead the one bloated mess we got.
I still think her appearance could’ve been more of an Easter egg for fans. A little “hey. She exists” type thing so you can avoid the additional love interest difficulties while but still introduce the character. Trying to balance MJ and Gwen feels like overthinking the situation
I feel like it could've worked if they just had her as the barista, but then she shows up again at the end and we finally get her name. Just a little tease. Show Andrew Garfield Spider-man that there are better days ahead. That's basically what they did in No Way Home. Show Garfield Spider-man that he can have a life outside of Spider-man with his talks with Toby Maguire Spider-man.
Warner Brothers didn't learn anything from Sony's mistake in overstuffing Amazing Spiderman 2 to create a shared universe. Not only didn't Warner learn, they repeated the mistake with Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
Sometimes is easy to forget that EVERYTHING, literally everything boils down to money. These companies don't give 2 fu**s about what we want and happiness. It's actually a miracle that SOME things we love happen.
giving fans what they want is just as cringe as producers doing shit for money. the prime directive should be to hire good filmmakers and let them do their shit, period
It’s funny, Spider-Man 2 is considered a great comic book movie and I always felt part of that was the Peter & MJ relationship. But my god, the Peter & Gwen relation in the two Amazing Spider-Man movies blows all of that out of the water. Those two were so likable as a couple. It really was a highlight and something I looked forward to most while watching those movies, which may or may not have been a good thing.
I remember watching TASM on theaters as a kid, i loved the movie and specially the suit, for me it was the coolest thing ever and for some time i liked more the TASM suit more than the Sam Raimi one, but then i started to read some comics and i liked more the Raimi suit, fun times
They rush to make The Amazing Spider-Man because after 2012 the rights was going to revert back to Marvel cuz every 5 years a Spider-Man movie has to be out otherwise marvel will get their shit back
after seeing him in NWH i really beleive that he could have been an amazing - pun intended - spiderman. he just needed an actual GOOD SCRIPT and GOOD DIRECTOR. the movies weren't good because sony fucked it up. they had good actors, characters, and the bones of a good story - but the execution was terrible. maybe they'll actually bring him back, make the amazing spiderman the centerpeice of their whole universe they're apparently still trying to build. have him swinging around in the background or something. i donno.... but i'd love to see him back as peter with someone who knows what the hell theyre doing.

@@ninjanibba4259 Yeah, in amazing fantasy he started out as a narcissistic asshole. After Uncle Ben died, he learned to let this go, but he could still be hot headed. Peter is pretty flirty too and pulls girls. Raimi was partially inspired by Clark Kent for his version of Peter.
@@benjaminwatt2436 He nailed playing that version of Peter Parker, but he’s not like that in the comics. Andrew is a lot more like Peter in the comics.
We need another installment of ASM. I still think this is the best version of Spiderman. The tonality of the second film leading to the accurate depiction of Gwen's death is fantastic cinema.
They really needed to take a breath between Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man. It was RUSHED as hell, all because they didn't want to lose their license agreement. What did they end up doing? Going back with Marvel, starting all over again, and taking their time, which, if they had done in the first place, would have kept them in better shape to begin with.
I’m tired of people saying Tom’s Peter is better. His movies are mediocre, his character is mediocre and his suit is also mediocre. Tom’s Spider-Man is only a float because of the Avengers and because it’s not hot fire like TASM2
Spider-Man: NWH was such a perfect send off for the previous Spider-guys... The feels were felt all over the theaters!!! I saw the movie 3 times in cinema and loved it every time!!!
Sony meddling messed up spider man 3, didn't help amazing spider man 1 and absolutely destroyed amazing spiderman 2. Makes me think they were 100% hands off with spider verse.
I'm upset it didn't work out because Garfield was so good. But also happy because Studios need to learn to stay the fuck out of the way. ASM2 failed literally because of all the extra shit they forced
Isn't Kurtzman the same that's being ruining Star Trek for some time now? Maybe the issue is wantings the same director's for every blockbuster, even if they know little about what makes it loved.
If the studio wanted to make as much money off Spider-Man, they could put in the works to make an Amazing Spider Man Three and Spider Man 4 since Tobey and Andrew were reintroduced in Spider-Man No Way Home. I don't see spider man four (Tobey Maguire's Spider Man) coming out because those movies have aged and he has as well. The Amazing Spider Man Three would be questionable because I have heard many people liked Andrew Garfield as Spider Man but would the studio really want to mix up Spider-Man movies? I didn't really like Tom Holland until I saw Far from Home. My personal thoughts is to stick with Tom because introducing a past Spider-Man could cause one movie doing better than the other, leading them to focus more on the more successful movie. What are your thoughts if you read this whole comment?
Unpopular opinion; I don't think the Holland Spiderman movies are very good. I mean, I like him as Spiderman but I don't really like the movies. I REALLY don't care for the supporting cast, Mary Jane and others. I like No Way Home (for personal reasons) but find the rest of the series to be boring and out of touch with the Spiderman mythos. Like Sony is trying too hard to aim for where the movie will land rather than make something that stands on it's own. Personally? I would rather see 3 movies focused entirely on the realm of Spiderman before venturing into ensemble films. Anyway. Secret Wars is dead in the water too in my opinion. Doesn't look good for Sony and the MCU. Or DCEU for that matter. I guess we'll see.
@@benjaminwatt2436 Fair point. Nonetheless my state comes for my adoration of Spiderman the character. To be honest I don't care who does it as long as it's done and done well; make a great Spiderman movie or series of movies that aren't dependent of being tied to another franchise. Props to Raimi for getting close. His 3rd movie in the series though... yikes.
Not really a bombshell when you're standing next to Emma Stone. Woodley was a bad fit for that role and I'm guessing producers saw it and cut bait. With the exception of fault in our stars, Woodley really hasn't put together anything noteworthy performance wise, and from an aesthetic point, she's subpar to Stone so, yeah definitely happy she wasn't in the final cut.
With the iteration of MJ that we know in the MCU out of the way, this could be the chance for characters like Felicia Hardy (a.k.a Black Cat) or Cindy Moon (a.k.a Silk) to appear in the MCU now.
Now that Marvel has really slowed the creativity. its time to see another company work out a cinematic universe. who knows maybe sony would be successful if they tried this again
yeah disney is killing the industry and phase 4 has been utter dogshit. I'm optimistic for sony tho. Morbius was ass but I enjoyed Venom flicks greatly (especially the second one, Andy Serkis just gets it). And Kraven, Madame Web, Spider-Woman all have good directors like JC Chandor, SJ Clarkson and Olivia Wilde attached to them. Kraven in particular is even being shot entirely on location. Will feel something fresh and different after the barrage of terribly rendered CG fuckfests from Disney marvel. And then there's Spiderverse flicks too which hopefully will be at least half as good as the first one.
Sony should have taken its time if it wanted a Spider Man Cinematic Universe. ASM was a good intro, but they shouldn't have overpacked ASM2 - instead use it to introduce the threads they need to launch something bigger at the end of ASM3. Then they could have a better payoff for Gwen and not have tried to jam ever single villain into one movie.
It was an over-stuffed movie. It is 140 minutes and just crammed packed with plots and charactes. Frankly, I would love a scenario for Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where Rimi and Webb would be given the opportunity to do a revisit of the films, to re-edit and re-work them into something they find a little bit more satisfying. Take the criticisms into account and just smooth the rough edges and deliver the best version of the films possible.
I remember seeing Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the theater and I thought it was okay but I tried to rewatch it recently with my wife who had never seen it before and holy crap was it boring the pacing was really slow and it just would not keep my interest, which is surprising as do like Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone both, and Jamie Foxx of course. But talented and charismatic actors can't save a bad script
If you think the scrapped Sinister Six and Black Cat movies are shocking, get this... They were going to make an Aunt May movie! I really don't know much about the plot of that one, but it was something about Aunt May being a World War 2 spy. Desperate times.
I wish these companies would stop trying to turn everything into a movie verse. Marvel made it work by introducing it to us slowly. DC fucked it up so bad. Wonder Woman 2 could have been good if not set in the past and having to return everything to the status quo by the end of it. The second attempt at a modern Spiderman movie already suffered for a few things, and while I didn't hate it, MJ would have made it more convoluted. venom is a nightmare, I wasn't sure what I was watching and at some point had to question if I had smoked something and that being the reason nothing made sense. No, it was just a bad movie, and morbius was just as bad.
Honestly, there was really no need for her in ASM2. I think the choice was exactly what they said. The Gwen and Peter romance was the one that was focal and important to the story.
Sounds like Marvel/Sony's mirror to The Batman. That could actually work really well
I think it’s better that we didn’t get ASM3 the way it would’ve been done had it come out just a year or so after ASM2.
@@Nightman221k maybe it’s the same lesson that Tom learned and maybe the Sinister Six is building in the background
What he mention is a deleted lost media scene for TASM 2
I think it'd be cool to see AMS3 now, set after NWH, him trying to get back into it in his own universe after getting a bit of confidence back.

As we saw in NWH, Andrew Garfield is a DAMN good Spiderman. Please, give him another movie but this time hire better writers. He's brilliant, but he can't do it alone.
TRUE~~~
I agree 100%.
@@amadorcortinas2749 that’s facts

Nothing comes close to the swinging CGI in TASM2. It's still the BEST. I'd watch TASM3 just for the swinging CGI lol
I agree with this. The web work in the marvel movies is good but definitely not as good a TASM. The closest they get to matching it in the MCU is Civil War.
the way the suit moves with the wind.. truly amazing!
One thing I sort of noticed is that the face for the video game Mary Jane resembles Shailene’s. It always seemed like an homage to the role she never got to be seen in.
Probably more like the game was being developed while the film was being shot and by the time she got cut, the game was too far along to bother going back and changing it.
@@Ziz62266 the insomnia game came out so many years after TASM2 came out, so I’m not sure that’s what happened but it’s always possible.
Honestly, the chemistry between Gwen and Peter in ASM2 (yes, I know they were dating irl) is unmatched to this day. Their relationship was so believable that MJ couldn't have done anything but detract.
It was terrible. One of the absolute worst parts of the movies.
"I'm sorry I didn't take you to the Bahamas of hiding spots."
What is this? A Spiderman movie or an episode of Seinfeld?
After No Way Home, I am fully on board with Amazing Spider-Man 3, starring Andrew Garfield as a Peter Parker returning to his own universe.
Or maybe it’s right before NWH
I’d much rather see him in the MCU. Andrew deserves better than the spin off Venom side pocket.
"Amazing Spiderman 3 & Venom" Coming soon 2023
No. Those movies were awful.
Having MJ in the movie would have taken away from the Peter and Gwen too much. They had such good chemistry it was nice to see their story play out completely.
Heard the actress say it was the best script she had ever read, sadly stuck with the divergent films instead...
Well she was in the divergent movies, so her taste in scripts probably isn't the best...
👍
I still think it was way too early to do Gwen Stacy's death..and i think the best way to approach Mary Jane was to make her friends with Peter and Gwen and let her be a rebel and carefree and instead of making her a competition for Gwen, make her a supportive friend for both of them so that when Gwen's death did happen it would lead to Peter and Mary Jane being support for each other through their shared trauma..and that guilt that Peter has for Gwen's death making him isolate himself from everyone while Mary Jane tries and pushes him to be better for himself and others..that was the way in the comics and it was portrayed greatly in Spectacular SpiderMan animated show..they could have done more of this stuff mentioned had they more seasons...it would have been better to reboot this animated show on Disney+ instead of that Freshman Year show
For me Stacy's death is great and very emotional... I was totally invested in it. It's everything else that doesn't work
spectacular spider-man is really the best media for spider-man it does everything so well.. the only downside is using tombstone as kingpin instead of using fisk, but i think they wanted to do a proper origin story for fisk

yeah that surprised me. usually no matter what critics say, a series at least finish

A cleaner story and less cost.
you know, some of us actually didn't mind the parents storyline. i can't be the only one curious to know what happened to them
He was the chosen one
I liked it too
I loved seeing his parents too. They aren't ever mentioned in anything, but the comics. And even then only sparingly.
Your wrong Tobey is the best!
It's over kill when every hero had parents that were secretly, heroes or spies, or whatever, it feels to contrived
👍
Ive always said & even before NWH, imo the only thing wrong with amazing spider man was the look of electro & goblin/ goblin's "story" 🤷🏻♂️
But Mary Jane was the weakest part of the trilogy
Absolutely wild that Shailene Woodley could’ve been another MJ in an alternate universe. I really want to watch those scenes now.
@ 3:10
Like Vigo Mortensen for LOTR, another rare case of the higher ups stepping in for the better.

They could’ve done something similar to the spectacular Spider-Man, animated series for Mary Jane in AS2
I still think her appearance could’ve been more of an Easter egg for fans. A little “hey. She exists” type thing so you can avoid the additional love interest difficulties while but still introduce the character. Trying to balance MJ and Gwen feels like overthinking the situation
I'm glad they took her out. She was HORRIBLY miscast.
I feel like it could've worked if they just had her as the barista, but then she shows up again at the end and we finally get her name. Just a little tease. I REALLY don't care for the supporting cast, Mary Jane and others. I like No Way Home (for personal reasons) but find the rest of the series to be boring and out of touch with the Spiderman mythos.
HOLY SHIT There's a Kraven movie coming?!?!
Nerdstalgoc is one of the best examples of tell a true storyteller of show how do we get here to now.
Release the director's cut?
Have to say, based on this video anyway, Woodley handled with absolute class what must have been a crushing disappointment.
Interesting to know about this
