    I was hoping the prosecution would point out that defense counsel's character descriptions of Alec Murdaugh as a loving father who would never hurt his wife and son opens the door to rebuttal showing that Alec harmed and stole from his brothers and closest friend... justifying the admissibility of the financial crimes. I'm glad the prosecutor did just that.

      Alex needed time to find another place to embezzle money from. After 10+ years of doing this, he felt sure if he bought himself more time (more than a funeral for dad)...he could find another place to draw money from.
      Case in point, after the murder he was left alone, and eventually he got some money illegally off the books from a friend to pay back 600k of the 792k he "borrowed" ...
      How did he know the murders would buy him time? Well it would make legal proceedings change however most importantly the very morning of the murders, he saw his coworker drop the money issues once she heard him on the phone finding out his father was terminal.
      He killed Paul and Maggie and created that sympathy on a GRAND scale. Not only him but MANY people are just too upset and money isn't important right now. The coworker and friend both attest to this.
      So, Now, he needs to pay the money his friend basically stole from his family bank eventually and still needs to pay 192k to his friend. He already wrote the note saying he will pay in 60 days too. So that very day he sets he faked an attempt on his life.
      This doesn't even bring in aaaall his other crimes. It keeps it relevant to the case and shows motive clearly. I don't see how reporters "don't see how this shows motive"
      He was robbing Peter to pay Paul, and it caught up to him. He literally ran out of time. That week glorias son called about the settlement money, that DAY the CFO was telling alex he needed to put the money back where it belonged, and in 3 days, all of his 10+ years of crimes was going to come out in discovery for the lawsuit.

    From what I heard Alex wife Maggie was a woman of high integrity high morals and principles so that tells me as soon as she found out that the man that she married was nothing but a fraud and a lying thief and had been stealing and lying to his family for the last 10 years and destroyed their reputation in the community I believe Maggie would have exposed Alex and left him and divorced him in a heartbeat once she found out what her husband had been doing behind her back for the last 10 years. He panicked and he killed his wife and son his voice was clearly heard on the video that was taken in the kennels 5 minutes before they were murdered the chance that somebody else was involved is unlikely but possible and when I say possible maybe a 1 in 1000 chance he's innocent but that's not reasonable doubt in my mind. Just saying.......🧐🤨🤔

    I don't believe that Alex committed these murders to hide his financial wrong doings. I believe that at one time he loved his wife and son....but Maggie had seen a divorce attorney within weeks prior to the murders ( I would love to hear from that attorney as far as Maggie's reasoning) His son was facing a huge trial for manslaughter due to the boat crash. Alex was a narcissist who was able to be in control of his puppets and loved ones all his life. Between the drugs, financial crash, and Paul's upcoming trial and Maggie leaving him....He had lost total control of those surrounding him. He needed to "get rid" of the two who were causing him the most problems. He was controlling, manipulative, and got away with whatever he wanted and needed to do all his life. Learning his peers had uncovered his deceit and the news that his father was on his deathbed, within a few hours of each other, he lost it. At the time this took place, he compartmentalized the events, and saw his wife and son as his Problems and not his loved ones. In his demented mind, he did what he had to do and wiped out his loved ones,, because he needed to get rid of the pain they were causing him. I wish the State would present it in this way. It makes so much sense after getting to know this man through the testimonies.

    Interesting, tough case. Murdaugh steals, is highly deceptive, his kids are out-of-control, BUT… it’s a big next step to murder. BUT, a sociopath can do it. A narcissist can possibly do it. His sons had shamed him. He stole money and had shamed himself. He had dark secrets. He wanted a do-over…he wasn’t an honest, moral man. BUT - there were two different weapons. He’s clean at the scene. He appears to be genuinely grief stricken, BUT…the weird self shooting….he’s slippery …..

    i agree the motive is very weak and makes little sense. he could've killed just one family vs two or his mother who is suffering from Alzheimer. it doesn't help to murder your wife and son for the purposes of distraction from other crimes. the prosecutors should just say they have no idea why this guy killed his family, but we can prove that he lied and provide circumstantial evidence that support his guilt.

    • @rootstorising7348
      @rootstorising7348 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Alex was about to lose $10 mil in the boating death that his son Paul caused. Paul gone, it doesn't go to court. His wife was filing divorce and would take at least half the assets. With her gone too, he thought he could bail out of some of the problems by buying time and reducing his debt and having more assets. Maybe he could even gain some money thinking he would get life insurance payouts.

    • @gabrielleg.1347
      @gabrielleg.1347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It actually makes some sense but you have to keep in mind that Alec's state of mind was desperate and insane. He seems to be a sociopath (the lies and manipulation from his past shows a predispostion towards that) and so its not as big as a leap for someone without a conscionce who is also on drugs that as one person testified "made him aggressive". We aren't talking about a stable, grounded, logical person here so that context is important.
