I found this song in my play list about two weeks ago and it brought me to tears. So, I looked you up to see what you were up to since the 90s. I learned you became a police officer, and was excited to hear you'd be recording music again. Then a week later, I was shocked and sad to learn of your passing. Thank you for your service and sharing your musical talents with us. I'm glad your family, fellow officers and fans have your videos where we can come and visit you again. I pray, in time, that all their happy memories with you supersedes their grief of loosing you. RIP & thank you!
Mr. Carson, I remember when this song came out in the mid 90’s. My parents had just gone through a divorce and I cherished the moments that I had with my dad as I couldn’t see him every day anymore. I remember lying in my room at night and listen to this song on repeat for hours when I would get sad because we could not hang out everyday. As I got older and got my drivers license I could see him more often because I became more independent but every time I heard this on the radio I would get lost in thought. Well, I grew up and in 2009, my dad passed away, 5 months after I graduated the police academy. I had forgotten about this song until about 6 months ago when I heard it on Prime Country on the XM Radio one morning on my way to work. I had to stop and pull over as it brought me to tears. Later that day I looked you up on the internet and wondered if you still toured or performed and found out you were a police officer. That touched me even more as I was an officer for 11 years before I “retired” and changed careers to become a Paramedic. Anyways, I don’t know if it was you who wrote this song or the story behind the writing but I just want to say Thank You. Every time I hear this song, I think of all the great times and moments that I had with my dad in life and times hunting, fishing, and going to ball games that we had. It truly is a masterpiece of music that I always love to listen to. Thank You
Hey buddy thanks for the message. I feel so sorry for kids who don’t have both their parents. I don’t realize how lucky I was to grow up in a home with two loving parents, I was truly blessed. Thank you for the wonderful message you got bless ya brother
I always go back and listen to all your music pretty regularly, the 90s era will always be my favorite and it acts like it wants to come back. It was cool to have you as the artist react to this certain song as it means a lot to me and others I’m sure, I remember hearing it all the time with my dad, and now years later I am a newly father myself
