I have developed sore wrists as a result of heavier lifting and am considering wrist wraps to add stabilization during my lifts. Ultimately I cannot afford a hand injury or even hand soreness so I need to figure out how to lift safely without putting too much strain on my hands/wrists.

Depends how thick the bar is and the size of your hands ,thin bar will put strain on your fingers,to thick gloves ul struggle to grip properly, there's a sweet spot where ul naturally feel a good grip, and ul be able to lift more because it takes the focus off your hands or any strain and you can concentrate more on the muscle your training and connection, I prefer gloves from my experience.
I’m in no place to answer questions but think of them like lifting straps. If you use them all the time, your grip strength won’t grow as much. Use them when your grip is giving out before the muscle you’re trying to hit. In my opinion I would have straps/versa in my bag but do my best to train without them so my grip can progress as the weights increase. Especially for deadlifts, I would use double overhand grip until my grip starts to give and switch to mix grip before busting out the straps. Use them as a tool not an extension of yourself 👌
Personally I think this applies perfectly for a smooth bar but if you have a pool up bar that has a rough texture gloves are pretty nice to be able to actually do more reps and not focus on the pain as much as form
