I actually think Swing, Come On and Right Place is by far the strongest points of the record. They stand out an is also friendly for my ears. I just think they are great tunes. I do agree that White Lies career feels a bit like The Killers although the Killers 3 strong albums, one bad and two unintressting singles for their greatest hits album. Also... RIP The Maccabees
White Lies have always taken influence from The Killers, so it's no surprise they sound like them here. I've always been able to hear The Killers through White Lies bombastic choruses. White Lies is like a more moody (and less consistently good) version of The Killers. I think To Lose My Life and Big TV are solid records, but Ritual is awful, and I'm unsure about Friends. I kind of like it.
I thought I didn't like this album. Then I saw them live and I knew all the lyrics. They do play nicely live and the audience can always sing along the choruses and stuff...
Lol great review - I thought it was just me thinking the album was a bit fluffy. It's not a bad album, I like it and I will still listen to it but as you described it, it's just fine.
Not a perfect album by any means, but it does have its moments. Anyway, THE RIGHT PLACE - are you kidding??? Easily a standout track and definitely one of their best to date. Although more 'pop' sounding (as the album clearly went in that direction), I think it's definitely up there with FAREWELL TO...
You really don't know what your talking about.. Ritual was a great album and their best after their debut.. You are just copying other people's reviews.
I think they never wrote a bad song, never.
Their new album is not about friends, it's about friendzone! Check the title track!

I've seen a lot of bad reviews. This ranks right up there with them.
Yeah she obviously does not know what she is talking about.
