    I like the one take more natural non edited videos you do better than the others. Like your channel and the product reviews.

    I picked up some of this and was showing my daughter how to use the tinder. She took the new lanyard off her knife and was able to, fairly easily while pinching one end, work the tinder strand out from the length of cord in one piece, leaving a perfectly usable piece of paracord lanyard which she put back on her knife. So the paracord does not need to be sacrificed to get the tinder.

    I just noticed that Amazon is selling the same brand, 550 Fire Cord for around $12.49 (depending upon color choice) - with free shipping.

    • @MAJORFR0
      @MAJORFR0 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was about to mention that! Amazon actually sells it in three sizes:
      300" for $12.49
      600" for $24.95
      1200" for $44.95
      BUT, the colors "Safety Orange" and "Multicam" are only $7.90 for 300"!

    I don't have a problem with the cost as I see this as just one more innovative product maybe as time goes on and they've recovered some cost to manufacture they could offer 100' per 25$.
    Do a follow up test on this. Let it get wet like its fallen in the creek then let it dry out for a week and see how it sparks up. If it works like it did here. Into the kit it goes. Good review BOO !

    Now this is a cool product. Nice on those long trips, just as an extra precaution/back-up. I do wonder how well it retains these burning properties, even after it has been through normal wear and tear, getting wet, drying, getting wet again.

    Great review mate,and yes it's very cool,but at that price I think is a nice to have but not a must have bit of kit,Thanks for the review and you honesty.

    This is to those bashing the idea of this Paracord. I know there are better tinder products but this is a survival tool. We usually wear our Paracord in a bracelet or fobs so I think it's a great item to always have with you. I wear my bracelet everyday for the cordage and strength. Now I can carry flammable tinder as well with no worries about not having it if ever needed. I like it.

    Great video as always. Now I'm looking for 12 buddies who will split the cost with me for 2 feet of fire cord each!

    $24.95 would buy a lot of cotton balls. LOL Good review. I tried this out at a demo and just was not overly impressed with the fire starter capabilities. But then maybe it could have been a bad batch as everyone was having problems getting it to light. I think it has it's pros and cons like all fire starters. The best is that it is a paracord. Thanks for sharing.

    Pretty nice feature, like you say Krik - wouldn't hurt to have a hank of this in your kit (dual purpose) or for a key fob or lanyard in case you need tinder

    Interesting product. You're right it is costly but as you said zipper pulls and fobs would be ideal uses. It would be great to see how it works wet. Great review thanks for sharing. atb

    I'm a fan of the fire cord. I got mine off of ebay for cheaper than yours. Just like you said, I have replace other cord applications with it. It holds my neck knife and fero rod. The zipper pulls on my boots and pack. Good stuff. I will keep finding natural tinder when I can, but in an emergency, this stuff might just save me.

    Yeah pretty neat stuff you could make paracord braclets out of it

  • @eipi5173
    @eipi5173 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    im not sure i would use it for anything but a fire-starter for safety reasons, especially binding flammables. Many cheap or free alternatives out there. But the idea is clever
    thxs for the heads up on this...ive never heard of it b4

    I think this is a cool product, if it was a bit less expensive I'd try to get some. But I agree with a previous comment, it would be nice to see how it fairs after being wet. :)

    I don't really get the idea behind this product. I'd much rather have the inner red cord seperate in it's own bundle, rather than try to make it somehow work within normal paracord. The two cords meant for very different applications didn't need to be mixed together IMHO.

  • @cap10random
    @cap10random 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    i initially thought this was a silly idea, but using it for lanyards seems like a really good way to make the most of it. i wouldn't want to carry lengths of this to use as cordage and i wouldn't want to carry cordage just for making fire when there are much better options, but that is really a great idea. now i'll have to get some for lanyards. thanks for the review. also, can you burn this in the sheath and with the other strands to make it last longer, or would the burning nylon put it out?

    Price has come down a lot since this.
    I bought 30 ft for 7.98 a couple of days ago and that's in expensive Canada.
    I want a firesteel like that.
    Hopefully you made a video about it but if not may I ask the brand?

      MAJORFR0 The ones from the Pathfinder store are pretty good. They're a soft rod and inexpensive. The handles come off pretty easy, but it's an easy fix. Some people prefer hard rods, others soft. Which do you prefer? -Krik

    Not impressed there are so many other resources that would be further up the chain to use before resorting to buying this stuff. I believe its ideal people come up with what they think are great ideas but they just don't execute very well. This looks like one of those things or after the fact you think about it and say why? There so many other things that can be used and it sure doesnt jump up at you as a easy fire starting material under ideal conditions. If it was tough conditions it would be almost useless I think.

  • @Rangersly
    @Rangersly 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the price, I don't think it's worth it. Seriously, there are way cheaper and MUCH better that take sparks on the first try. I do like your idea of tying your firestarter kit with some. But $25 for this? I'll pass.
