Heard this in Baby Reindeer and it sounded eerily familiar. Then it suddenly dawned on me that I'd heard it years ago on The Twilight Zone...what a reference!
*As of April 25, 2021, singer/actress Bonnie Beecher, who appeared in The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, The Fugitive, and other TV series, is exactly 80 years old. She was born in 1941. Happy Birthday. You have a beautiful voice.*
when she appeared in "The Fugitive," it was Tim McIntire's voice that was the rage in "Ill Wind" episode as she was Kimble's love interest, who also first tried to kill Lt. Gerard with a pitchfork, then let Kimble transfuse her blood into Gerard to save his life
She is 83 this year. Thank you.❤ I love this song! I feel the Pain, sadness and Loneliness while wandering alone after life has passed me by. This song speaks to me. You see I'm dying soon and i wander the last part. Of my life alone and sad.
I got her autograph in a twilight zone trading cards box. It’s signed Bonnie Beecher “we”ll always be together”. Being a musician inspired by the mystical and mysterious I cherish this card so much. ❤️ Thank you Rod Serling for bringing this show into the world!
I just found out that this song came from The Twilight Zone series. In the backwoods state I'm in I've heard people sing this song and always assumed it was some love song from long ago and passed down. When I found out it came from this show and had such a beautiful voice to sing it, I've never felt happier.
Her voice is so haunting and foreboding, yet calming and beautiful. For some reason, something's telling this is the song of death since it was also the last episode to to be filmed and aired. And the episode title "Come Wander With Me" just sounds like a farewell, call it greener pastures or oblivion. It's dark and I love it.
To me. It's about the eternal wander we are locked in with our lover in her and his many infinite forms. We are doomed and blessed by this infinite journey I for one at least in this form, in this time, and in this reality am so glad to have her to be him. I think and more so I hope ultimately that they love us, and this journey while infinite is also firmly in our grasp. We are in control to wander as we please and like a shadow she simply follows me.
I have always felt like an alien in this world. I just can't understand how humanity can be so cruel, how people can lie, how we slowly kill our planet, how we stopped caring for one and other, how fast this modern world has become, and how to society money and power became more important than life itself. Sometimes when I hear this song I imagine being picked up by my own spiecies, and taking me back home.
You Are Not Alone , Our Art Is What Binds Us In Endless Sorrow For What Enlightenment Could Have Been And That The Dream Is Over...But Here At The Outskirts At The Metaverse We Still Come And Stay Together In True Art And Its Most Teacheable Moment ...The Art Of Melancholie, stated So By Marcella Detroid ...you are not alone even though this world is shattering each and everybody and the Living Planet our Spaceship our Lifesphere is silenced and in the hybris of anybodys own fucking free weeling egotistical tantrum our world is brought to the brink !
Loved this song when marthas home is shown and degree was real. Actually broke my heart couldnt help but love her a lil . Bless her. Brilliant baby reindeer x
Indeed brother. When I listen to her sing it's like there is a voice behind hers and it was telling me turn away from this safe world and follow me. At the same time I was feeling something lifting me up away from my body to follow it
***** people like to seem/feel deep. Although I did just watch this episode and I have been analyzing it. In the lyrics she says "he came from my sorrow", so while it's debatable whether he is a ghost or (as someone mentioned below) just a character in a song that pops into existence everytime the folk song is sung, it could also be argued that she willed this character into existence out of circumstance and he was never really real to begin with. I really like the idea of a folk tale in some mountains somewhere, though, that says "if you sing this song...the wandering man may appear to you in the woods...." that actually just gave me chills typing out. It took me much longer, towards almost the end of the episode to even figure out what was going on, so it's great stuff as far as i'm concerned. Still, it would have been interesting to see the angle of "confused folk archetype who only exists within the limited parameters of a cursed song that brings him into existence whenever sung" would have been pretty cool to explore. For all we know this whole thing is just the hallucination of a grieving wife.
I just watched this episode, and in the spirit of the song and the episode, I decided to write some lyrics of my own that go with what happened. He ran through the woodland. He wanted to flee. He ran without heading, the warning from me. The old man wouldn't help him. He knew not what to do. In rage the wanderer hit him, now murdered where two. The brothers came with vengeance, they found him you see. Each one a gun they carried, and now the dead are three.
I'm a guitar player, and I saw this episode on the Twilight Zone...it moved me so much...I had to find guitar chords....I love your mom, she's beautiful.
Every since I first saw this episode as a little girl I would try to sing this song. I loved this song for a very long time. I'm so glad to see the lyrics here. Thanks. I'm grateful to the talents of Jeff Alexander & Bonnie Beecher. God bless them both.
Before Bonnie Beecher was cast as Mary Rachel, another young and aspiring actress and singer auditioned for the role, but was so nervous that she ruined her entire audition. Afterwards, Rod Serling said that they had to reject the young girl, but also said that he will probably regret that decision one day and that young girl would be great star one day. He was right on both accounts. The young girl was then unknown Liza Minelli.
Amazon prime has this episode and I’ve watched it about 10 times so far. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever watched. It’s like being in a dream that you wish you didn’t wake up from so soon
I saw the episode Come Wander With Me, heard the beauty of Bonnie Beecher's voice, and am so glad I found this video. The full episode has more of her singing, but it's not this song.
Come Wander With Me is my favorite Twilight Zone episode that I try to keep a tape of, and the song with the same title is a favorite also. I like the actress's version of the haunting song, along with Gary Crosby's singing as well. The comments on the folk singer not being real is interesting . . I had thought everyone but the folk singer were the ghosts.
Never watched twilight zone, just heard this song on the radio during a couple mornings when I was sleepless about 7/8 years ago, it would always be at the most quiet time in the morning and I’d always wake up to just hear this song. Always a coincidence but still gives me goosebumps and kinda freaks me out.
My dad just went to bed after Perry Mason and twilight zone came on. Heard this song and had to find this song from this episode. Very eerie, very somber. So dope.
The creepiest Twilight zone of all time and the best of the best! Thanks for posting this Erie song that walks you through musical graveyard. Watch and listen on a late Friday night or in the wee hours of the morning for full effect.
Yeah Floyd Burney didn't deserve to die just because he was a jerk towards wanting to use somebody's music as public domain even though music hit can be recorded by then one artist
Found out about this episode through someone posting it as the intro to their Top 10 Twilight Zone episodes. No lie...the song puts my teeth on edge. It's beautiful, haunting and has a promise of certain doom behind its loveliness.

I read a very good explanation of this episode somewhere, it's like he's a part of the song (as main character) and since the song is conceived and sung, he's stuck forever in the story of the song, like all characters in songs are, always living the same situation that's being told by the lyrics.
Started watching the twilight zone late nights a few years ago, thought I saw every episode at this point. Until now seeing this episode. Possibly my favorite. This song is so beautiful.
This is a beautiful song and one of my favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone this song brings back happy memories for me... And I give every respect to the artist who made the song
Oh where is the wanderer Who wandered this way He's passed on his wandering And will never go away He sang of a sweet love Of dreams that would be But I was sworn to another And could never be free The Rayfords were brothers Four men tall and bold And for one I was chosen With my love still untold They heard of the wanderer They heard he loved me They heard that… (....) Its that unique perfect song that happen every few years by coincidence. Right people meeting at the right time. There are not many songs that are so far off to the vibe when listening to the cover versions on youtube like this one. Its a perfect piece of music.
I have a few favorites of the Twilight Zone, this being one of them. But I Thought the girl was a real (in black) but when the guitar and song was played it brought her back to a time when she lost her lover and she was young. The girl, folk singer and shop owner were real and everyone else were ghost . Once he purchased that guitar, he became the lover she lost and will lose again, again. all were resurrected with the guitar and that song. Anyone who holds that guitar, will become that lover and will be murdered by her brother's (ghost) murdered. The shop owner knew, that is why he listened to the dogs and started to towards the door. He knew the folk singer had awakened the spirits. That's my take on it!
+ButterBaby2u I like your take on the story.I never looked at it that way.My theory is the folk singer is dead and his past is only haunting him.And he wandering in the woods to relive his evil pass when he killed people.
Sent here by a baby reindeer,, gorgeous.

odd .. same here. but i remember it from TZ and thought it was one of the most beautiful songs ever.

One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard
I agree. I was just mesmerized when I heard this song on that episode.
We agree ・:*:・
Marshall Lambie And scary...when she sings the lyrics, I keep wondering where they're wandering too. I feel doom pulse behind every last note.
Marshall Lambie it speaks to the soul on such a spiritual level
Hauntingly beautiful...
This song is beautiful, with a touch of scary to me.
Sky vibes% Yeah...I get the impression of a gentle voice behind me with a knife slowly, ever so slowly going to my throat.
Yes, I feel the eerie vibe too.
Well it was written for a horror short
Gee I thought it was only me.
Exactly
Heard this in Baby Reindeer and it sounded eerily familiar. Then it suddenly dawned on me that I'd heard it years ago on The Twilight Zone...what a reference!

What is it with the stupid "I'm crying"?

Love this episode
wow that is so cool
Everyone says this episode was bad, but it's one of the best of the twilight zone I've seen.
It's pretty confusing, and there isn't a hint of what is going on throughout the whole episode. That's probably why a lot of people are put off by it.
I love it! I love the music, I love the story, I love the actors.
The very best
My favorite one
I liked it but the story is a mess
This song accompanied me along more than a 3000 mile walk for our homeless veterans. It drove my feet and soul onward to complete the journey.
My mother is the one who sings the origonal Twilight Zone version of this song.
Wow!! Awesome!!

You have "now murdered where two" instead of "were two"

Oh where is the wanderer
Who wandered this way
He's passed on his wandering
And will never go away
He sang of a sweet love
Of dreams that would be
But I was sworn to another
And could never be free
The Rayfords were brothers
Four men tall and bold
And for one I was chosen
With my love still untold
They heard of the wanderer
They heard he loved me
They heard that…
(....)
You killed Billy Rayford
Bespoke onto me
Struck him down in his anger

A most hauntingly beautiful melody.
As the story goes, this ghost appeared to a fast talker and put him in his place.
