    The clutch on that compressor is going through a low pressure lockout. Running the AC for a prolonged amount of time under those conditions will prematurely wear out the compressor. It needs to be charged up.

    That was the car to have back in the day because they. Were G body and they all kinda looked like the grand national that's why. The whole look was so. Popular

      I believe all 442s were the Solon my dad sold them and often told customers that if they wanted a 442 but a little cheaper on price and insurance to just order a Solon it was the exact same car without the sticker package!

      Those era cutlasses with that gauge package were notorious for having a loose 5/16 nut at the back of the gauge . Same deal with my '86 442. Sometimes I had to smack the dash when it was cold out then it eventually come up into the orange zone. Once I pulled the cluster out and tightened it, the voltmeter would read 13-14V and the gas/temp/oil were more accurate. Strange deal but when that voltmeter gauge isn't working right due to that loose connection , it screws with the other gauges.
