Yep. As a mental health therapist I can confirm this problem. Psychiatrists have mostly become pill pushers, and it's left up to us counselors to actually address the client problems.

@janedoe6704 Thanks. It's maddening and frustrating. And at times I want to quit because I find it in my heart unethical to refer to the clinic psychiatrists, yet my job demands it. They don't prescribe benzodiazepines thank goodness but they give out SSRIs and antipsychotics like they're candy. And Trazadone and Seroquel for sleep disorders! I want to pull my hair out because they don't even assess the causes of the sleep problems.

@@TheParadoxDestroyer it is impossible to succeed in psychotherapy when on these mind-altering drugs. I gave up after dozens of attempts- and I’m tired of being blamed for the lack of success. So, instead, I’m getting off all drugs through tapering with a nurse practitioner with some common sense about her- and I want as far away as possible from psychiatry and psychology as they are all in bed together and NOT for the good of the patient! My life was taken from me for 26 years just due to experiencing some panic attacks back in 1997! And they ALL had me believing there was something fundamentally wrong with ME! They failed. Not me. I’m no longer their little scapegoat and guinea pig for their insecurities and refusal to stand up and speak the TRUTH if they are aware as you are. How can you stay in this field and go along with this when you know it’s harmful? At least Dr Witt is speaking truth to us and educating people. Sorry if this sounds harsh sh, but people are suffering! All because of the drugs and the gaslighting and false guilt! In addition, lives are cut shot due to these drugs and due to the tormenting treatment received in hospitals. Many YOUNG people are dying on these drugs!

Thank you for addressing these issues. Another one that comes to mind is that psychiatrists can, and do, shame and blame patients when the patients do poorly on the drugs prescribed by the psychiatrist.
I was called treatment resistant after my depression got worse on SSRIs and Klonopin (this was 20+ years ago, before there were any warnings about these drugs), then sent for ECT, then told "you have borderline personality disorder. That's why the ECT didn't work.". (I also had severe memory loss from the ECT, which the psychiatrist had said was extremely rare).
The psychiatrist didn't tell me what borderline personality disorder was, so when i got home from the appointment I looked it up online. I was devastated.
For the next 10 years i was poly drugged, including with antipsychotics, and in and out of treatment programs including DBT. I felt i was an outcast and a failure and received that message consistently from family, friends and professionals. No one could understand why I couldn't just "get better" (in fact I kept getting worse. I didn't know it but I had undiagnosed akathisia).
I went from working full time while pursuing a master's degree to fully disabled.
I'm now finally off the psych drugs and have given up on treatment but still carry emotional scars from being diagnosed with the most stigmatized mental illness when i was just trying to get by. The childhood trauma that was at the root of my issues was never addressed.
At 57, I'm extremely isolated and in poor health but also afraid of many things including being judged by people.

I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s been 26 years for me. If not for my husband I would probably be on the streets. Now my son is deeply in their system and on disability living with us. They love to target and drug up the young men. It will not last in this house- at least I will find a way for my son to be able to break free from their tyranny and live his adult life!
By the way, I was told once that I was treatment resistant for depression (the patient is always blamed for their experimentations and failures!) and the doctor said I needed ECT. I’m thankful now that I never believed him and I refused ECT and at that time I was able to access information to educate myself. In 2022 I was fighting the psych mafia for my son. For them to not administer ECT. He was in ICU two weeks in bed under partial anesthesia as i fought for his rights because he had legally expressed his wishes for no ECT previous to this time. The psychiatrist threatened to replace me as the medical decision maker for my son. Pure intimidation and tyranny! I asked him, “so you are just going to go against my son’s wishes and his entire family’s wishes and do whatever you want to do to him?” An attorney had to get involved and my son did not have to undergo ECT. He can NEVER enter a hospital again. It’s pure communism in there. He becomes a nonperson in a hospital. This MUST change! I’m getting out and I’m getting him out of psychiatry. I’ve lost all respect for them. Except people like Dr Witt

@@gracegrace1896 The system being what it is, we all need people to protect us from it like you protect your son. They will try to overrule families...Rob Wipond writes about this in his book, Your Consent is Not Required.
I have an adult son also and have argued with my family -- they wanted to see him "get help", I said, "that will make things much worse.". Definitely a sad state of affairs.

I can so relate to your comment. I had also some damming mental health diagnoses (incl treatment resistant), was polydrugged, got addicted to opiates and benzoes etc.. Most of my core issues are because of complex trauma and PTSD but that never got addressed.
I also went through ECT with severe short term memory losses. Nobody warned me of that.
I currently have no access to lots of my emotions (apart from the painful ones), plus various other health issues (not able to work) ... Its a tough survival and all I can hope and work on is to heal as imperfectly as possible (nearly 60)..Sending love ❤️

@@MichiZaus I’m sorry you’ve also been harmed by psychiatry. I am unable to work either. If not for my husband, I would have nothing-living on the streets I suppose. Thank you for care & love. I pray we both heal more than we expect and learn to enjoy every day for the rest of our lives. I’m working on it lately. They’ve stolen years from me. I’m not going to let them ruin the rest of my life. Trying to help my son as well. He is 29. I don’t know if I mentioned that psych hospitals have abused him, tortured him, were letting him die of their Haldol overdose at one point. I had to argue with staff to stop his death. He finally was rushed to CV-ICU. He was inches from death. He lost his right eye in 2022. They have him sedated horribly right now. Their ignorance of the side effects of medications has wreaked havoc in my son’s life. He has never had a chance at adult life yet. God help him. Psychiatry has traumatized him and me and my entire family.

Usually that patient is being tricked by narratives such as serotonine/dopamine deficiencies - i.e. that there is something wrong with their brain, or at least that the meds could help with focus/unusual lows. This happens very gradually, like brain washing. I went in wanting help with what I thought of as a personality disorder (borderline) and very critical of antidepressants and meds etc. But then, they didn't really convince me of adhd, but, they made me doubt my own intuition and conviction of having a normal brain (it makes me sick thinking about it). So they said I could function better if I only took this stimulant, and that it would be out of my system after a day or two; in reality by the same logic of alcohol or morphine - both of which I enjoyed/had enjoyed during hospital stay previously. So, being prescribed this - by a doctor - basically, a "safer" drug in a smaller dose, than my friends were taking to get high - thing that could help me focus and that I had been reassured was safe, made me try it. Worst decision of my life. I lost my soul to frying my nervous system within a week of taking it and its effects stayed in my system for months, if not years. And I received no help from the place that prescribed it to me, and neither from the regular doctors because now I was seen as crazy after having had been in contact with psychiatry and given bogus diagnoses. The doctor prescribing it covered their own behind by writing "patient has been thoroughly informed about side effects" in the journal - which is a blatant lie. But that is going to be hard to prove. From now on I'm going to tape all doctor interactions.
Like Peter Breggins says, the worst thing you can do is go see a psychiatrist.

The biggest mistake I made in my life was trusting a psychiatrist. Now I'm partially disabled from the drugs. The side effects were not minimized but simple ignored (they told me it was not possible). The severe withdrawal I went trough was not minimized but simply ignored (they said withdrawal is like having the flu for 2 weeks then it's over)... This withdrawal left me disabled with dysautonomia, cognitive impairment, sleep issues, memory issues, systemic inflammations, tons of allergies, hormonal imbalances... and of course I HAD NO HELP FROM DOCTORS. The psychiatrist labelled me an hypocondriac. The only doctor that believed me was my cardiologist. Psychiatry is no science this is even not medecine, it's a legal drugs market.

Metabolic syndrome. Movement disorders. Rapid weight fluctuations. The list goes on and on.

@@drunkensquirrel7545 I really understand this : ) But the sad thing is they are everywhere, culture is planned and created, and also there is a creation a sort of type of character in the society which can be approved from spectrum of accepted norm. So to speak - psychopaths, narcissists and egoistic, egosyntonic attitude, can live very well because they are useful to control every people in the world, even if they dont know this and still have belief they are in control.
So If you are in the minority, when you are still good, full of justice and still have moral valid ground - you need to be out from this culture created land and you certainly bring people attention into you, because of your atypical behavior.
But you need to use this to inform people how bad they are, if you still can defend yourself, and exposing them as well as you can, not just because of some people but exposing in this way and discovering plans behind culture industry, which is indeed eugenic project, when psychiatrists are something like mind police, to control your behaviour and also mind, check your behaviour to have approval to go into your mind. Check your mind and also control it, which bring together all of the mind control elements together with propaganda, language, education with indoctrincation behind, science control over people which is called socialism(when even society is a creation of socialism, so when you still using this name, you bring power to the socialism, even if someone saying its still science, which is the modern form of international communism and also communitarism - check for yourself what this is, this the crucial key to understand why people still talking about theirs rights and dont even know it - they are enslaved because of them)
Because you cant be free in this world, which doesnt mean you shouldnt or ultimately - you really are not free, because obviously - you are, you have free will, and because of that you are free, but in this reality the world dont want you to be free(but you still have your will) and not also you - but anyone which doesnt belong to elitists society cant be really free in this world, you can be useful even have a happy life in all your time in this world, but you still cannot be free in this world, this is forbidden for all people, even if they saying other things, which doesnt mean, it is not necessary to gain freedom to all people.
So you need to be controlled at every level, and even if you are smarter than them, this isnt cant help you well when others still believe they are good. This is why its still really, really hard to defend yourself from any accusations. Sorry for my English, I hope you can understand, what I trying to say.
And at least remember - You are NOT ALONE in this!!! Someone who have courage to discover these things need to be informed that you are not only one, who have struggle with world, even so - sometimes world can condemned you, torture you and also trying to make you believe you are nothing, but you cant be defeated, because of who you are as a human being, and still have will, you cant be fooled and you cant be conquered, we cant be conquered.
If you know it a still dig it when you realized at least something really bad is going on in this world, maybe for the first time in your whole life.

At the start of lockdown there was legislation passed allowing one dr to hospitalise any patient. It used to be three and this has been used as a way of getting rid of people who dont subscribe to the current thing.

    • @snackers7
      @snackers7 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Dont make us scapegoat, we are all the same. So this isnt only our problem, this is the problem of the whole medicine! They repeating and repeating and still defending themselves, some of them even making essays about this to show people how psychiatry are condemned, and how psychiatrists stigmatised in society(not patients, but psychiatrists!!!?) like no other profession in medicine. If they focus on the detail on specific situation in their field, and also make differentations between group of patients and still want to compared in the overall to other medicine specialists - they can make anybody believe they are still good and psychiatric disease(which is not really a disease) still can be a disease, because some ilnessess can be really serious, but also others cant, so - if they want they can link one disease into one spectrum and make other believe you need to be treated because these ilnessess can be dangerous, and also you illness can evolve to the other serious condition - because of the treating or just escaping from psychiatry on your own, when they have confirmation, that the patients can be the cause of their problems, but medications are still good, or at least have more advantage to your health in long term perspective than not taking them, but if you cant get off this - how can you be sure you cant live without them, who is also responsible for what these drugs too? Also you, psychiatrist can run away, saying he cant help you anymore, so you going to the next one, and maybe your condition is serious when you approach another and have risk of making another label because your behavior when you stressed out and just super angry when you realised they still saying the same lies, you can also beat them, so they need to shut you down, and you are finished, because if they have digital record, you cant hide your medical history, so if you want to survive in this situation you need to be really, really smart to outsmart them well. They are like Nazi in the camp really, they are danger not only for you health, but your life!!! They are criminalists and you cant go away from them, but still people dont want to hear that, because they wont believe in something which patients can say - so it is not true. Just like in WWII in the German Nazi camps, the fear of your life is nearly the same, so you dont have Chad or something like that, you just maximum stressed out because of your life. In real - you just escaping from the concentration camp and have no help from anyone, because they dont believe or just dont do and cant do anything to release you! Its condemnation, stigmatisation and run for your life. If they can make you believe you are sick and convince other to this, they also can make people free of guilt, because they will treat you like an animal or worse and if you can be angry because of that you need to be "calmed down", because this anger come from "disease" - they saying and they perceive you like this when you can be worried or just angry to others they cant believe you any more.
For those who still dont know what is this really look like please watch the movie with Angeline Jolie - Girl, interrupted - this is what psychiatry is really about.
You are fugitive, and need to run fast, before they get you.

Well said Dr Josef, however, there must be a solution. Psychiatry is a profit driven industry so why should systemic change occur without incentives? Whia there is little scientific literature outlining the dangers of psycho active medication, the over abundance of case studies describing the harmful effects can not be ignored. How can anyone put a price tag on someone struggling?

    1. They don't act as if they truly care about the patient 2. They overemphasize prescribing of medications rather than working on root causes of problems 3. Doctors unaware of medication implications and complications.
Another would be government entities getting between providers and patients. This is a problem with many religious providers now who aren't allowed to incorporate faith into much of their methodologies.

My concern is the abuses of the 5150 and related involuntary phyc holds in California, Baker and Marchman Acting in Florida. Unwanted conservatorship/guardianship imposed on people of sound mind in California, Florida, Nevada, Arizona and the rest of the 50 stotes. California recently made it easier to force someone into conservatorship. In Wyoming a prospective conservatee can force a jury trial.
After what happened with Brittney Spears I want a constitutional amendment to end conservatorship, adult guardianship. The Mexican Supreme Court has ruled conservatorship unconstitutional. Ours is behind for allowing it. Nothing good comes of it.

It's unscientific and based completely on opinions, which is why it's become such a powerful weapon for abusive parents to use. My mother was too weak and pathetic to physically abuse me, so she weaponized the health system and forced me on drugs and said she'd lock me up if I didn't poison myself. She forced psychiatry on me for over 10 years and she's baffled why I want nothing to do with her.

I had gone to my GP to get an ADHD assessment and at that time I was also going through a stressful time. I was given an ADHD questionnaire which came back as positive but my GP prescribed a SSRI. I did have an appointment with a psychiatrist but he only focussed on family history with my mom who had PTSD from growing up in wartime Germany and the subsequent anxiety she suffered. I was told to increase my dose and seek CBT. The therapist said I presented ADHD, went back to my GP who prescribed another SSRI (I had taken myself off the first one) had an adverse reaction and it wasn’t until my GP finally prescribed a low dose stimulant that it was determined that I do have ADHD. The psychiatrist did apologize and acknowledged that I had been harmed by the SSRI and admitted he only focussed on family history. Doctors just don’t listen and are too narrow in scope when ‘diagnosing’ patients. Whatever happened to the days when you went to a psychiatrist and they listened and provided advice on how to handle the stressors in life instead of automatically resorting to drugs.

Being forcibly drugged with psychiatric drugs which have agonizing side effects is invisible torture which is in common use throughout Ireland. Many Irish men and women are afraid to report crimes which are being conducted against us remotely by means of psychotronic weapons to the Irish Gardai because when we do so we are immediately being sent for mandatory psychiatric evaluation to psychiatrists who then might have us incarcerated inside Irish psychiatric hospitals and then forcibly drugged with psychiatric drugs which have agonizing side effects which are comparable to being tortured from the inside out.

Then those who have died or been life long harmed be financially compensated.
I can tell you now emphatically a lot lot more know full well what they have done - they know full well what akathisia is - it's ostensible the movement and suicide ideation is seen, the patients tell the psychs who process to do nothing but make it worse with more drugs higher dose and there by contine the torture and it is one of the worst forms of torture. Saludos.

Agree with everything you say here Dr Josef! Psychiatry is a joke...PERIOD.I have found been prescribed anti-depressants for depression by a psychiatrist) but have found other therapies having a much more POWERFUL effect than meds. These therapies include exercising, especially walking in nature, meditating (guided visualisation), music and cold water immersion. However If you feel a bit "disconnected" to society sitting in a coffee shop and watching other people can also be very beneficial in feeling "connected" to society again (It does not always have to be face-to-face contact) Some people might do other therapies and I salute you for doing so instead of meds. As far as I am concerned: If your anxiety does not want to cause harm to yourself/others or your quality of life than... PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM PSYCHIATRISTS! Go see a psychologist instead...they understand the impact of life's stressors and how to cope with them much better. God bless and stay calm😊😇

Hi my name's Alex I have Bipolar 1 disorder. I have been watching this channel for a while now, and you haven't told me anything I didn't already know. I am aware that the medications I take (lithium, antipsychotic, SSRI) can cause extrapyramidal symptoms, tardive dyskinesia, thyroid failure, kidney failure, and many other things. I take them anyways because Bipolar 1 is a severe neurological disorder which I will have for the rest of my life, and I plan on taking medication for the rest of my life. There is no "root cause" other than genetics: it is a hereditary disease. Also, it's not true that I was prescribed drugs without adequate testing: when I was first diagnosed, I had a whole day of psychological testing, including the MMPI, and I was immediately set up with a psychotherapist as well. Based on my experience, all of the narratives on this channel are false.

Psychiatry should be looking at their patient's diets. Processed foods, food that is not really food has to go.

The hell with poor people that have mental health problems.
I have gotten more care from google.

Is psychiatry a real medical field or just a bunch of quackery? Are psychiatrists actually medical doctors that can be trusted or just incompetent pill pushing quacks? Do the medications they prescribe help heal people or are they just harmful addictive drugs with horrific side effects?

It is good to address issues like this. What I just don’t get is that you only criticize psychiatry as a psychiatrist day after day, not even one positive word towards this important specialty.

That's because doctors know there's very little they can do to help a patient that’s depressed. No amount of talking, listening, and analyzing will significantly improve a patient's condition. Physicians know that the illness is caused by an "untreatable genetic predisposition" in most situations. It would be an almost certain waste of a doctor's time to listen to someone for an hour knowing the case is practically hopeless. Have lived with a chronically depressed person for some time, and the individual is just as depressed today as they were 30 years ago.

This isn't true. Physicians aren't equipped to be psychologists so they shouldn't be (not sure what purpose they fill honestly). Environment and someone who understands them and lets them take their time with it without judging and blaming them is everything. Removing triggering relationships are fundamental as well - changing their job and toxic relationships. Trauma is a huge part of depression.

@@TheDavveponken Virtually all of us experience trauma, but not everyone gets depressed about it. Only folks predisposed to depression genetically will lapse into depression.

@@jolly968 If one simply can shrug it off it isn't a trauma. Trauma is very subjective. Trauma is traumatic, it's in the name, thereby it rattles you and if you have no way of dealing with it in a healthy manner you develop maladaptive coping mechanisms and wrongful blame (often of oneself, especially at a young age). The key concept here is whether the person has a healthy way of dealing with it available to them (given to them by parents or other adults). Here, importantly, generational trauma, by which trauma influences family systems and new generations, very much come into play - and I believe, amongst others, are mistaken for genetic disposition.
And no, I wouldn't say virtually everyone experiences trauma. I have had plenty of friends who haven't. But probably you are surrounded by them because you have as well? And no, talking about it - in a meaningful way, not for the sake of talking ofc, can be very helpful. After finally coming across Patrick Teahan and the holistic psychologist here on yt, not before psychiatry poisoned me unfortunately, I have found the final puzzle piece - trauma. No one took it seriously before, as I've always had a roof over my head. Most therapy are very moralistic and doesn't really want to come to the core of things - like, maybe your parent hurt you in ways you cannot reconcile with them and you have to limit that relationship, or quit your job etc. The classic "just because my daddy and mommy didn't love me enough". Hard truths, which would compromise even the therapist (which are most of the time even more messed up than the patients by my experiences, or just plainly incompetent or uncaring, but that's a another topic).
Therapy really has messed me up though. I wish I never saw one.

@@jolly968 also, I don't think a single trauma causes depression, but rather what that trauma may lead to: bad decisions and relationships causing more trauma. Or an environment which you can't escape that is consistently traumatic. Depression happens when you finally feel trapped.

@@jolly968depression is not genetic nor is it caused by a chemical imbalance. Every single person alive has lived a different life. Three children raised by the same parents all had different parents in a way, because humans are constantly changing beings. I think that the people who don’t develop some form of mental health issues are the most dissociated/detached from reality, so basically like robots. This is a result of significant childhood trauma, and specifically of being raised by a very dissociated mother. The reason we have seen such an increase in mental health issues over the last 30 years is partly that the pharmaceutical industry has been pushing the medical model of psychiatry for profit, but it’s more to do with the fact that women are far less dissociated than they used to be because they are no longer seen as property of their husbands. The less dissociated a mother, the more conscious and aware her children will be. And being conscious and aware in a very sick and twisted world understandably leads to mental and emotional struggles.

Not being aware of the adverse effects of the medication they prescribe is gross negligence... its abhorantly neglectful. I have seen it up close due to a series of unfortunate events and its activated me to fight for change... its an antiquated paradym with such dense but elevated egos... though I met some good people and one very good psyche. I had no idea the entire sector is highjacked and it always has been... the doctors are on the whole a special breed of indoctrinated do gooders and the consultants wield too much power and not enough accountability and auditing... the very worst and most dangerous kind. I can't beleive we have this problem behid closed doors acting with impunity... And the shocking way that liberty can be removed is utterly against any lawful edict... there is no law that permits such a barbarous act of evil... removing liberty is like a murder... and yet these people all presume they can do that without recourse and never having to be held to account... Its beyond frightening. This proffession needs to be completely disbanded... they have become way too cosy with their 'diplomatic immunity'. The end is nigh for the Kingdom of Nurse Ratchett...
