As an old Studio owner with tape machines I got out when digital came in. Just got back in a year ago, trying to learn the new tech, and your videos are INDISPENSIBLE! Couldn't do it without you. THANKS! ALAN
The Dalai LLama of Reaper enlightening us AGAIN ! The deep functionality never ceases to amaze, but I'd never know about it unless Kenny showed the way, thanks !
Hello Kenny, great video, and easy to follow. But I am having real problem with metadata. The CD burning is complete. When I try to listen to this new CD via MS Media Player or Windows Media Player, the Name of the Album and track that shows is totally wrong, nothing to do with my CD. And, every time I try burning (different) CD it comes up with the metadata for a different unrelated track. Is there a way to bake in the metadata and possibly artwork to the track with Reaper? Please advise, much appreciated.
I was wondering the same thing. I do not see an option in REAPER that gives us the ability to burn a CD from the stored image/ISO file. I'm forced to use a third party software for this (Burnaware). However, it would be great if REAPER could do this instead (since REAPER created the file to begin with). Plus, REAPER should include the option for burning a CD as "Disc At Once" because this is required when creating the glass master when replicating. Plus, I did not notice a CD burn speed option either. I have been using Burnaware for my CD projects because I have not found these features in REAPER. If the devs at COCKOS would implement these important features for burning a CD (important for a CD that is planned to be mass produced/replicated at a professional CD factory), this would be great for us REAPER users who are creating master CDs that are being shipped to CD replication companies for mass duplication.
Thank you so much! This is just what I will need to know in a while. I have seen the CD stuff in the render window, but have been intimidated by it. It’s so nice to have it all laid out and explained in your most welcome video. 💿📀😅
I kept a separate computer around specifically for its software that had function. The same day you released this video, I had just updated that computer and lost that software. Thank you!
Unfortunately when it comes to video editing, Reaper can do some job, but it is not very good at it. It is better to use a dedicated software for that. I recommend Shortcut, which is free and very good
Thank you for one of the few truly informative and useful TH-cam videos out there. Well made also, by the way! Just one question: Why when rendering do you choose "Full Speed Offline"? Isn 't it safer to go with slower speeds, even at "x1"? Because when I burn CDs to send to some third person to make the image files or DDPs themselves, they always tell me to burn them at "x1" speed if possible, to avoid any digital errors. Doesn 't this apply to rendering from Reaper also?
It was all good until I got to the "Burn CD" prompt. I keep getting an error that says "Track 1 is not long enough! Redbook audio CD's require track lengths > = 4 seconds". I'm not sure what I did wrong here. Are Redbook CD's just garbage 🤷🏾♂️
Does anyone know how to make instant song transitions happen? Like when songs seamlessly transition. I did a thing where I just downloaded them as one big song and then marked the points where songs start, like in the video. But for some reason the transitions don't really work.
is this actually a legit way to master a whole album? I was thinking you could make parent folders for couple of songs, or all of them, for compression or volume as you said. it would be good to burn demos to data discs or as backups. i had no interest in doing this til i saw your video kenny but i may end up trying this at a later time. so thanks.
Thanks Kenny, I watched your video and was able to write a script to automate the whole thing. The video with the script is on my channel for anyone interested. For Windows users, I made all this possible with two clicks.
Funny anytime I have tried this I get the error (Track 1 is not long enough! Redbook audio CDs require track lengths >= 4) I have seen other people have had this issue as well but there has never been a solution to fix it. How do we get rid of this error? Yes I have checked the length of all my files. When I look at the .cue file that is created all the songs have 2 index values, however the very first one only has , maybe this is the issue but I still don't know how to fix it.
Thanks Kenny, isn't Reaper just amazing. I wonder if there's a way to get the track names to appear on the CD player in the car like commercially produced ones do, or is that asking a bit much!
Hey just a quick question here that might sound stupid, what's the difference between doing this and doing a DDP file with Reaper ? IS this simply the extra step and what comes after the DDP ? Or is it a way to bypass it ?
This won't replace a DDP file, nor is it part of making a DDP file. Not exactly, anyway. The process is similar though. You add markers, add metadata in the markers (but in a specific DDP format). There's also an album beginning and ending marker and you can add more metadata for the individual tracks. A TH-cam search for 'Reaper DDP' will turn up a few good videos on it.
Not sure if anyone asked this, but what about if I would like two songs played back to back, w/o seperation, others would be this x*seconds between tracks? As an example: Alice Cooper's Raise Your Fist And Yell between 'Gail' and 'Roses On White Lace' Thanks for your content, I can see that this channel helps out a ton of us beginner Reaper users! Keep 'em comin'. So, that's pretty much it, I hope you heard something and could use it as something in the future :)
You could burn the CD with 0ms space and embed the needed spaces either directly at the beginning or end your songs or use empty items as gap fillers when arrange your tracks and markers.
I DJ at a radio station. We get hundreds of CD's a month. My car and even the Station Manager's car has no CD player. While driving, was the biggest time we had to listen to new artists and such. My Ryzen 5 laptop has no optical drive either. I am just posting this to point out CDs are on their way out. If you are an artist trying to get heard another method is already needed to get your projects to us. Email files, I still have a USB slot in the car...A couple of songs posted to Spotify from an album? Of course, the trouble with the streamers is there is not much ARTIST INFO if any. I believe you can still post to yootoob a link only the person who has it can see, if you are worried about copying. We need new music to play it's just CDs get more problematic each day for us.
$537 million in CD sales in the US in 2023. It's a small market but still valid. I would agree it's probably not the way to send music to radio stations, though.
Thanks a lot Kenny !!! Here is a custom action, which helps to quickly preparing tracks for CD Mastering. The video is in Armenian language, but everything is clear, because the custom action is visible on the screen. th-cam.com/video/p3-Of9xaH1Y/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ArthurSoghoyan
Hi Kenny , just a tip for fast naming markers : Xenakios/SWS: Create markers from selected items (name by take source file name)
Thanks. Pinned.
I had no idea that could be done in Reaper. Thank you.
Fun fact, reaper can also cook you food and clean your house when you're away. All you gotta do is create a custom action and assign a key stroke.
🤣🤣
And in the rare case, no custom action exists, you can write your own action script.

always a pleasure kenny. j.
That was super helpful - thanks! - Am wondering if it's possible to add an image to each of the individual tracks?
Every time Kenny uploads something to you tube . I get a little better at what I'm doing. Thanks for the recent uploads !
Concise and brilliant as ever. Thank you, Kenny! 🫡

How can the CD Image file be used again, if it is not deleted?
Looking into it now.

This is pretty cool! I haven't tried it yet, but would be interested in investigating how to embed CD metadata onto the disc. Thanks as always!
Thank You, Kenny!

no need to go outside of reaper is the way i like it, thanks kenny

What????? You can burn CDs with Reaper??? Cool!!! And well timed as I'm working on my first EP.
Is there an easy way to save in DDP format?
Thank you for one of the few truly informative and useful TH-cam videos out there. Well made also, by the way!

Wow! never knew we could do this! Thanks so much Kenny!😉
I can -and _WILL_ use this!
How do I burn a previously saved image to a CD?
Thanks for the overview on CD Burning
Thank you so much Kenny. This worked perfectly for me.
Does anyone know how to make instant song transitions happen?
Like when songs seamlessly transition. I did a thing where I just downloaded them as one big song and then marked the points where songs start, like in the video. But for some reason the transitions don't really work.

Okay, after you create the .cue file, how do you reuse it? Open it with Reaper or just go through the process again?
It's one of the first features i discovered and used in Reaper. When you don't need anything else than Reaper 🙂
Excellent. Concise. Just the job. Thank you!
esta no me la sabia Mr. Giogia, muchas gracias me sera muy util

Check out DPD mastering in Reaper.
Cool, good to know, but it'll be awhile before I get to this part..lol
Do you know how to burn a CD in Reaper with a pregap track?
That's what's up ! CDs still rock

@@MarcelEllerbrok Thanks! I will try that!
Apprarently, reaper can freeze and burn audio
👏👏👏👏
Thank you. Again! When I don't know Reaper, I always end up w/one of your tutorials. Thankfully, I'm not using Alsihad!
let's go
Is there something that Reaper cannot do ? :P
Yay!!
I just set fire to it … 😳👍
Thanks!

soo... this should be the standard way of burning cd audio image according to red book instead of using "files" on a disc
Thanks a lot Kenny !!!

needs to be said that before running it the topmost item has to be selected
@@ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP Yes it is. I speak about it in Armenian.
I was hoping the video showed it. It's good that you cleared that up.
Next: "How to export your midi files on a floppy disk."
🤣🤣
and then how to record tracks directly to vinyl
How retro!
Burning a CD was kind of old school but it always good to know 👍🏾
