To drop Kane would take huge Kahounas which Southgate doesn't have,he is a FA yes man,and this mediocre mentality will be England's downfall.

I’d like to see Watkins at half time or very latest 60 minute mark. He would stretch that Dutch defence easily imo. Let’s be honest Kane is not being dropped, although I would like to see it personally.
@DeanHall-og5dn that's the problem all along, England players with big reputations unable to be dropped no matter how badly they are playing.
@@DeanHall-og5dn "let's face it Kane is not being dropped" this is typical English mentality, you can't drop someone because of their name/past achievements despite them currently not coming anywhere near their previous level. You can see it, I can see it, Lineker was saying, Shearer was saying it, Watkins stretches the play and allows the other attackers space to work, it's so freaking obvious!!!

Kane played in a poor league all year. Easier to score a goal with doing very litte. Even get a hat trick in few minutes. Form dont stand up at international level
I 💯 agree. He’s never been known to have pace but in previous tournaments he’s never performed badly like this, because he was playing in a tight fast paced league, now he plays in a slow paced league where there’s more space and that has slowed him down.

I wish people would stop winking themselves silly over that Holland game in 96. The Dutch squad was riddled with infighting and a camp that was split down racial lines, Edgar Davids was sent home a couple of days before the England game for giving a radio interview where he complained that Guus Hiddink should pull his head out of certain players backsides (paraphrasing). That was a Dutch team who had their heads elsewhere, that is abundantly clear and it is something that is always omitted from the context of that 4-1 victory.
Watkins should be ahead of Toney. Watkins scored goals last season and also he presses hard. I dont get it.
I would have liked to have seen Watkins playing off Kane like the role Sterling had, I think Watkins would be more astute playing there. We have really lacked that player with pure pace running in behind and also someone who is a real threat at goal, but it probably won't happen now.

I don't get it either. I get putting Toney on for pens. But Watkins and Palmer led the PL in goals + assists. They should both be playing.

@@jaybe2908I’d have Watkins as our 9 and Kane as that proverbial 9 and a half along side either Foden or Palmer. Bellingham with Rice. It would be a shocker to leave Manioo off but we need more goals.

Tbf I think Jude would be 1 of those players that would happily drop back for the team. He comes across as having more of an old school head on his shoulders in that respect. Unlike a lot of these young lads. I would still give him a free rain to roam forward and link up with Palmer, Foden & Kane. We would not be short at the back with Stones, Ghuei, Walker & then Rice covering in front. Wouldn’t it be a novelty to see England just go hell for leather in a controlled fashion. Even take Kane off at half time/ 60 min mark if it’s not working for him. Get Watkins on to stretch what would be a tiring Dutch defence.
@@DeanHall-og5dn I don't disagree. But sadly we're not going to do anything other than the usual tepid sideways and backwards passing with Pickford likely to touch the ball more than any other player. Might win it on pens though....
Us Villa fans could have told you years ago, how good Konsa is. Watkins is still better than Toney too. At the moment, both are better than Kane lol

We've qualified because qualifications are much easier, there's more teams involved with bigger tournaments and your playing the likes of Malta and the faroe islands in qualifying

Yeah, we know it's a bold shout to change things but when it's 0-0 or you're 1-0 up and the game is moving away from you, the opposing managers make changes. See Croatia, Italy and France.
Stuart is clearly too close to Gareth and doesn't want to criticise him, or thinks too much like him.
If Kane plays like he has played this tournament so far then Big Virgil is going to completely own Kane this game. I know Kane is the captain so dropping him isn't something Southgate will do but Virgil is on a yellow from the turkey game because he was marking Turkey's Yilmaz who has speed. Putting Watkins against Virgil would be such a smart move on a tactical standpoint because Virg will be cautious of drawing another card and being banned from the final (if they win). Why not play both Kane and Watkins and drop Foden? Play a 3 - 5 - 1 - 1 and have Kane sit between the midfield and Watkins.

I’m sorry but if we win this tournament having drawn almost every game, scored hardly any goals, had a handful of shots on target! Poor performances from players that could have been dropped for equally as talented ones, then no I don’t want us to win it. Not like that! ! it’s just terrible
Why are we ok with mediocre. He says Saka was the best but who is the equivalent on the other side. Is Saka our only attacker? Why don't we figure that out. If Saka doesn't play then they have nothing. Southgate needs to fix the left. Shaw will help. Palmer for Foden please. Mediocre Foden. Saka putting him to shame even Palmer putting him to shame. Get him off. Saka and Rice are holding up England and the whole world knows it. Kane and Foden couldn't wait to get off the field.

Holland have beat teams in 90 mins and played better opposition. They drew with the French and beat Austria. They have been MUCH better than us. That is a fact. We need to move up a few gears here to beat them and with that Snail up front we have no chance. Safegate will be playing for pens yet again 😂

It’s not hard to suss. If Kane is not playing his best , sub him at half time. He can suddenly play a blinder or he can continue to struggle but let him start because he’s great.
