    This is one of the tools I find intriguing from Ryobi, they seem willing to develop niche tools more than the others.

    I ordered the p307 but when I went into research I saw that even tho the p305 does not have a temp adjuster. At max temp the P305 is 365 °F and the P307 at max temp is 320 ° F. I don't think that's an upgrade. I got the P307 anyways with 2 4ah batteries I hope I don't have any problems at high temp with the flowing of the glue

    I own both the original and the new version, unless you absolutely need the dual temp, get the cheaper one. The older cheaper version has a glue nozzle that has a pinhole in it along the tube. This keeps the glue gun from "drooling" glue all the time. The new one does not and it drools glue constantly at warmup and in use. Also the older version pumps more glue per trigger press, and warms up faster.

      Can you explain a bit more about this pinhole? Where exactly is it? If you put the old nozzle on the new one, does it stop the drips?

      Thanks Tom. I have the old version and never noticed it dripping so much until recently. Then I realized I bought the extra tips Ryobi sells and had one of those tips installed. I put the old one back and drip solved!

    Why did you have to push the glue stick instead of using the trigger? Looks like it’s not functioning correctly

    I’d like to see how well it works with different adhesives.

    Thanks for the review! So you have to hold the back of the glue stick to make it work and isnt this counter intuitive?

  • @landshark6659
    @landshark6659 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i was thinking of getting the ryobi glue gun but if you have to use your thumb to push the glue stix all the time then im probably going with the dewalt corded glue gun

    I have the original and love it. Portable, heats up fast, and stable, unlike almost every other hot glue gun. Only problem was that it could get too hot for some applications, like gluing foam, and I wished it had as low setting. This remedies that problem. Gonna pick one up, pass mine on to a family member.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great idea. Pass it on, and now you'll have the low setting. Thanks for watching.

      totally agree, I have two larger ryobi ones and my kids use the smaller ryobi one,
      the smaller one can get really hot when the kids leave it on to long but the thing works dang good.

    Oh yeah, what do you guys glue all the time? , it looked like you were useing it the first time ever with the glue stick not going into the gun.

    Just got the p307 yesterday,and no green light . Not sure if it was because no glue stick was inserted.

    Good video but didn't like how you kept pumping the trigger quickly. I read your responses below how it had to prime itself with 1 glue stick before it worked properly, but I respectfully disagree, I believe it wasn't working properly because you were pumping the trigger quickly & you should have been going much slower using full strokes of the trigger. Maybe you just need to be a bit more patient & slow down a little pressing the trigger? Thanks for sharing the tool reviews, you usually do a good job, this one, not so much...

    I need a glue gun for SuperTac 500, which bonds best a 350F. This gun is rated 320F and home depot answers section states 338F. So which is it and will it work with the SuperTac 500?

  • @keearun
    @keearun 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The highest temp gives the best bond, so I don't see how useful the low temp setting would be . Even for the arts and craft people, high temp is workable with sensitive materials; it just takes a little longer to harden but gives you the best strength. The older ryobi glue gun works in only high temp mode and it's a better value.

    It doesn't look like the trigger works anywhere near as well as the older version. Has that gotten any better since it has gotten broken in a bit more?

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it got so much better once I primed the first stick and got all the air removed from the tip and body. I should have purged it first, but I wanted to show it out of the box. Thanks for watching.

    Bé nice if it had more heat control, dip switches etc.. 305 is a heat runaway, the 307 maybe better with a lower temp . I have the 305, and you have to keep shutting it off if working with delicate materials. If you run a bead in the vertical, it runs

      @@Shoptoolreviews They were reaching out to Rigid tool owners trying to gauge interest on whether or not they should come out with one... To date I don't believe that they have... That was at the same time that they were gauging interest on their new battery chargers and tools..

    Your reviews are great as always, but you need to call out bad tools too. This one performed poorly. Save consumers some money.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This did not perform poorly at all. I had to get the tip primed because it was the first glue stick. Once I did that, the gun worked great. We've used one of these for years, and they work great. I'm always honest with what we cover, regardless if it's good or bad. Thanks for watching.

      Ik im seeing this a year late but The issue was that he only had 1 glue stick in and it was a shorter stick & not the normal longer ones. so he had to keep pumping and by the time he got to the heating coil, he was pumping out more faster than it could melt & push out. If he put two in, or used a longer stick it would of worked smoothly.

    As an exclusive Ryobi tool user, this glue gun seems weird to me. I'd rather get a tube of glue instead of dealing with hot glue.
