    Someone set dislike to this video. I am surprised. Would be good to learn why.

      Maybe it's because it's difficult to hear differences in a comparison by recording speakers, in a room with its own acoustic, with the integrated mics of the camera, and with the position also changing: 5cm up or down, left or right and the high freq change a lot... I mean, a direct recording of the tape output from the preamp would have been nice. This is still somewhat fun but not very useful. Still appreciated your effort. Loved the restoration videos. Didn't dislike it.

      @@_innerscape_ making a video with recording from RCA requires much more time to process. Having a primary work and filming restorations is already exhausting. I am making RCA recordings from time to time.

    The deck on the bottom sounds a little bit crispier than the deck on the top at least to my ears yet both decks are excellent. I think these are the best sounding decks ever! Yet Sony is also great and so is the Nak but somehow the A&D records more profound with more details. What adapter have you used? Single to dual output?

      @hifirulezzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adapter - yes. Got an Amazon. Lower deck is a bit crisper, agree. I measured FFT and see that all Akai decks have 2nd and 3rd harmonics a little bit above what Sony and Nakamichi does. (Sony and Nak has only 3rd harmonics). This may be a reason why decks sounds so crysp clear for our mind. But I very much like the sound and appreciate all changes they did comparing to 9100 without EV index. Now bass is rich and right there, where it should be, Balanced playback amplifier reduces noise levels significanlty.

      @@hifirulezzz You remember when I mentioned that all Akai GX and GXC model decks sound crisper than all the other decks? I have noticed the difference early on.
      In my opinion these remain the best decks ever made: Akai, Nak and Sony of course the higher end models.
      Certain Japanese models were made much better than other models for the rest of the world, that is why I also started buying the Japanese models as I heard the differences including the higher end Sony models.
      I have even compared the results with certain EU made decks such as German, Norwegian and Swiss and those are not bad yet different sounding but not as straight forward built.

      @@TheMagicStar80 Even 7100EV is much simpler model than 9100EV. I do not speaking about EU or US decks. 9100 was the first model when they did two things: 1. used CMOS transistors and made a current amplification (first used in Akai R99) same as Sony KA5/7 models. Very complex and require tuning of zero point between two shoulders. Huge improvement. 2. made PB amp fully DC coupled. that was great, no capacitors to affect sound path. In 9100EV they improved it further to have more ways to adjust frequency response. And made it on balanced scheme - 3 time more parts but super reqults for quitness in the pause. At this moment I consider it as a most sophysticated amplifier ever made for cassette decks. Same for record amplifier. I like Sony way of adjusting equilization, levels and bias, as it uses digital encoding and more reliable than pots. But no Caps mean No caps. You can not beat this. Sony sounds very good but softer than Akai. Need more time to compare, few days is not enough. Probably will record another battle.

      @@hifirulezzz I agree with you no caps means no additional noise! to me this is one of the best decks every made! but I also compared this deck to other EU brands such as Revox, Grundig, Telefunken, etc

      I am lucky to own one also. I would have to become homeless to thinking about selling it. I even taped reminder on the back for my kids do not ever sell it. Whatever he is saying about lack of noise and clarity is absolutely true.
