I actually like this Infiniti; it seems to offer more for the money compared to the GLA. Plus it looks nicer than the GLA.

So tired of people complaining about the shared material in this car and the GLA.
Have you ever sat in a VW and then an Audi?
The map lights and sunroof controls are exactly the same.
A VW Golf and Audi A3 share the platform, engine and transmission.
The buttons on the door for locking/unlocking are exactly the same.
The seat controls are exactly the same.
There are many other examples of cars that are perfectly good and share many components. But as soon as Infiniti does it everybody has to pick on it.

    • @brjha
      @brjha 6 ปีที่แล้ว

vw is just a boneless audi, which is just a boneless porsche... Infiniti has 0 to do with Mercedes. 2 different brands from 2 different continents

Forget about interior component sharing. I'm more concerned about the engine/powertrain sharing... Nissan has it's issues with quality fo sure, but one thing I can say from the previous Nissan/Infiniti's I've owned, none have ever had any serious mechanical issues even well after 100K miles. I don't think the same can be said for German-made powertrains and such.

What you said about the new design being 'TOO SQUISHED' is exactly what I'm feeling with cars more and more. The Toyota Corolla has the same problem when you raise up the seat high enough to see the road: The rear view mirror gets in the way of your forward vision. That's why I actually prefer older used cars instead; you can see out of them. The Subaru Forester is great, it has a high seating position, a tall roof, and tons of glass, so I'd get that. I saw a lady who just bought a new Honda Civic coupe, filling it up with gas at a local gas station, and guess what she did? After filling her gas tank at the fuel station, she turned to the right and drove right up and over a concrete ISLAND, high-centering her car on it and hopelessly getting stuck, with her front wheels spinning. I drive a 2008 Corolla and with that older design's higher seating position and lower cowl I can easily see that island and not hit it, but she could not. NOW THAT IS WHY today's cars suck.

You guys really couldn't see the purple tones? Yikes. You might want to do one of those tests to see how many different colors you can identify.
Look lower right when he walks to open the door about 1/3 of the way through the video. It's more of a blue than a purple, but it 100% has purple tones. This is like having an argument over whether teal is blue or green. This car has both blue and purple in the paint. Obviously.

Thin tire rubber. I am not sure I understand why sports oriented cars have little rubber. I get that it's a bigger rim and bigger brake, but it sacrifices rubber which offers more traction and a comfortable ride. I just saw the opening where this car was spinning all 4 tires barely moving. I am wonder what the point is?

I got into it a the auto show and the visibility outwards was so bad it's unbelievable I'm not even that tall (5 foot 9)and I still had to put the seat all the way down and lean the seat back but when I did this the rear seat became very small so that is one thing that turns me off from this car. but It looks good.

This car is a bit of a mess. Engineered by Germans, good. Designed by Japanese, uhh OK. Built by Englishmen, are you mad?
Should be built by the Japanese and designed by the English. If there is any country that exudes a history of poor craftsmanship compared to other nations, it's England.
I also get that Japanese and English are shorter than Americans, but most central European, African, and American(The whole of the Americas) are about the same height. The younger generation of Americans is even taller. If you were gonna sell a crossover, I think it would make sense that it would be bigger than a compact sedan.

  • @cadsux

This is disappointingly small. Like the GLA and CLA, I guess it's meant for a bachelor, a couple, or empty nesters who will rarely cram people in the back. They're more likely to make use of the hatch space with the seats down for a Costco run and maybe a roof or bike rack. I really can't see any family, European or American, picking this car.

Yeah but even though the FX35 was very innovative and practically ahead of its time, the steering feel on it was really numb for some reason... I think it was one of the first cars to adopt electric steering and they didn't know how to restore some steering feel artificially like they do today. Hydraulic power steering still feels best but current electric steering setup are not as bad as when they first started.

Btw, I never said the steering was bad. I just said it felt numb (like there is no feedback from the road).

+agenthelios1 well I agree with you about the fx37 (he doesn't know what he's talking about), I don't agree about the style of this car! it blends in with a ford Taurus? lol, no... wayyyy more style than a taurus. remember this car starts at 30k in 2016 dollars compared 2 how much would a q45 cost today???.don't give me that bs aboit how old the car is because the accord in 95 and an old camry had wayyyy better interior materials in the 90's Than the cheap stuff they have now.

Everything from the door handle to the start up chime is copied and pasted from Mercedes

To the ill-informed, this is NOT A MAZDA DESIGN!! Infiniti has had this design language since late 2008, or early 2009. Please refer to their Essence concept as well as their m37 concept before commiting a social blunder about your car knowledge, or lack thereof.

You are clearly clueless, and probably blind. I don't see any Infiniti concept DNA in this car regarding the headlight-grille connection and the side profile. The design of this car is pretty much just a Mazda Shinari concept, and raised up a few inches.

+Andrew Yang You're clearly clueless, the Mazda Shinari Concept debuted in 2010 in Paris, a YEAR AFTER Infiniti debuted its Essence concept at the Geneva Auto show. The essence concept that gave Infiniti and it's copycat competition (Mazda, Hyundai, Lexus etc.) their design language.

***** Yes, the Essence came first, but it doesn't carry to their cars at all...... The only common design features shared between the Essence and their actual models is the crescent c pillar and the weird front end overhang thing. THE rest of the car, like the side profile, headlight-grille connection, etc is all taken from Shinari. Nobody is copying Infiniti, or really cares about Infiniti in the first place, but they are, without a doubt, copying Mazda.

+Andrew Yang www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sedan/240210-2014-sedan-63.html You say no one is copying Infiniti, but last I checked, Nissan/Infiniti has a larger market share than Hyundai/KIA or Mazda, so it would make sense to emulate the competition to get market share.

+Kyzzle112718 AHAHAHAHAHA nobody in their right mind is trying to emulate the second worst Japanese automaker...... Mazda can make their own designs, and Hyundai/Kia are busy copying the Germans, not Nissan.....

I really like this design. But what I've seen and read about the engine is just too weak.
