  • managed to do a drone flight once again in the Cold Springs area in Nevada. flew from the usual spot though I did change things up a bit and checked out the hills near where my relative lives. also got soke views of the lake from a distance. one word of caution in that area: the Cold Springs area is growing and there are people that will watch you when flying in the area, even in the blm area. had one guy in a cowboy hat approach me and ask what I was doing after i landed my drone. was probably just checking me out and make sure my drone was registered with the faa, which it is. also have the holy stone remote id module too. technically the mini 1 drones don't have to be registered with the faa unless of flying under part 107 rules or if you are attaching extra accessories to the drone (like the remote id module), but I registered it just to be on the safe side. also I had read up on the laws concerning drones in Nevada and technically you are not trespassing in airspace over people's properties unless of you are flying under 250 feet above ground level. I was averaging about 300 feet during the flight. plus I was more interested in filming the desert scenery over other people's houses. thoigj in areas like Cold Springs, it is nearly impossible to not get random houses when flying drones in the area, especially pee vlos rules. doesn't mean I was intentionally trying to spy on people or their houses, but they do happen to be in the background. also when doing the return to home, I was just transitioning back to where I took off from. usually pretty simple using rth. perhaps on a future trip, I can scout out some new spots to fly from though.
