Icoso, can you make a tutorial about the mouse with a gun? Because I spent 2 days to make a gun mechanic like yours but I couldn't. Even if you can't make a tutorial, please can you share the gun mechanic prototype game with me? It would help a lot.

I really liked the theme this year. It rides the line between giving you lots of ideas to make, but having enough freedom to subvert it and not do the same thing as everyone else without having to think too hard. Right down the middle. My brother and I ended up liking what we made so much we're going to keep working on it even after the game jam ends

I too participated in GMTK Jam. I'm a one man team, it's very difficult to translate novel mechanics into a game quickly, so I developed like only one level for tutorial and one for basic gameplay. You have made a pretty creative concept and also have a great sense of humour. Nice work and video!

The game I made was actually sort of similar to this (mine's called Cube Compute)
There's a bunch of differences but in both games there's quite a bit of math involved.

My team's game is also similar in a completely different way! "Path of Dice" (the one by Incantation Games) has you pushing a die around, too, but instead of the die being used in equations, numbered gates open up depending on what side of the die is facing up. The die is also twice the size of the player, there are pit tiles that the die can go onto but the player can't (due to the die's size) and there are button activated gates, so the environment plays a bigger role in our puzzles.
It's neat to see a slightly different take on the concept we went with (and are still going with, since we're updating the game when the jam's over) - great minds think alike, apparently.
@@miner_fabs I just checked out your game on Itch, and it sounds a lot like a bunch of other games made for the jam (the fact that the name isn’t unique doesn’t help it, either). It seems like such a great game, too, so it sucks that you didn’t get very many ratings just because it ended up not being totally unique.
@@rajmehta7644 if there's one thing that I could have changed about the game before the jam ended, it would definitely have been a better title; the two other devs came up with it whilst I was asleep, and we were too busy with other things for me to bring it up.
I mean, there's no paths! There's only one die! And it doesn't mention or nod to the fact that the entire game is set in a temple of some kind!
Oh well. Could've gone far worse, given that this is our first game jam as a team, and my first jam ever.
@@miner_fabs Definitely. In my first game jam (GMTK 2021) the team leaders overscoped the hell out of our idea, and we ended up with a plain dungeon with only one enemy type.

It's a cool game, but there's a problem: if you decided what dice you wanna put in this slot, you can put it there only in one way.
(just try to do it wrong if there's one dice and you'll understand what I mean). So, if there are two slots and two dices, you have only two variants of how you can put this dices. So the game is cool, but if we think a little bit, it becomes non-sence.

@@icoso yeah i make videos about baba is you, and it definitely inspired me to make a dice sokoban "that's how i roll". kinda similar to yours in that the dice rolls and there are puzzles. only did 6 (or 7?) puzzles because of time constraints but gonna add more later on
