    Thanks Melanie, for your experiments I just found Azobenzene Sensitive Paper Development - mixing with PVA non silver process! Azobenzene made by soak steel wool overnight with vinegar

    Hi Melanie, thanks for the video :) I am trying a few experiments from different recipes and methods with serrated wrack in Dublin, so far I have only managed nearly black and nearly clear negs so Im searching for my middle ground! It seems the key differences in all the info I can find is that different people use very different times/temps/agitations with roughly similar recipes, and I suppose its just finally finding what way works for me if I persevere! I just have a question about agitation here, do you do an initial constant agitation/inversion cycle for 30 sec or 1 minute of do you pour and just let it sit till it hits the 2 minute mark? Also when you say invert every 2 minutes did you just invert once or for ten seconds each time? Thank you

      Hey Karen. I think you'll find this page useful. Kim Conway used serrated wrack (rather than bladderwrack which I used) and documented her recipe and results here;

      I do initial constant agitation, and then do a quick agitation every 2 minutes - just 2 inversions.
      Hope you find this useful!

    The results are like photos from the 1900s. They look like out of this time in some nostalgic way

    So cool, Melanie! Do you know whether you can use dried seaweed? And is any seaweed workable or only bladderwrack? Many thanks in advance! Anna

      Hey. I think you can use serrated wrack, and other wracks but you may need to do some testing. :) I haven't tried dried seaweed but it should work.

      @@MelanieKing thank you. We have plenty of dried seaweeds at the beach and in the shop here in the Netherlands hence why i was wondering.

      @@annaandrejew662 Brilliant! What kinds do you have there?

    • @annaandrejew662
      @annaandrejew662 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly those belonging to the families of "brown algae" and "chlorophyta". You can find them fresh and naturally dried on the beach.
      At the shops, dried you can buy mostly Japanese kinds: nori, kombu, hiziki, wakame and more.
