Ummm $1,000 leaves D.C., maybe $300 makes it to the dam. Way worse down by New Orleans. Estimates there was in the $90 range.

5 years ago we had a 78 year old bridge replaced and about to have an 85 year old one done. Funny enough the new one gets stuck more frequently and takes much longer than expected to open and close than the old one ever did.

Dams are not built to control water flow, but manage water flow. This entire mess is a failure of several people to do their jobs ... criminal negligence. All those people that lost so much and the insult to nature ... what a loss. I admire many of those that lost so much and are suffering that they are not in a "tar and feather" mode.

It's a man-made disaster. Eventually dams fail. Solution: don't build up against a river, it will eventually overflow. 100+ yrs ago, it was a necessity for local industry to use waterways for majority of transports. Now we use waterways for turbines, creating lakes for R and R.
