I was visiting a friend that day who was a teaching assistant at Indiana University, and he gave me a tour of the Bloomington campus. We'd see bits of this game on monitors in various places. What a day! I was immersed in two great Indiana colleges.
ND Masters of the option. USC had no answers. Marinovich deserved those last two sacks And fitting poetic justice that it was number 37 Kowalkowski who knocked him down at the end of the game. GO IRISH! Love it even more because 37 was my varsity number in high school.
Life long Irish fan from South Bend. Spoke with him 3 or 4 times over the years. Let's say, I know who he is and he recognizes me. One time, my brother in law and I went into a bar and as we walked by he said "Hi, Dave" Well my brother in law was kind of star struck and was impressed that called me by name until I pointed at my name on my company work shirt LOL Nice guy, tho. Approachable and engaging, always smiling. P.S. I was at this game!

Your 5-1 edge is now gone rocket. And you can only hope you'll never meet up with them again. It's embarrassing to watch you two play as it's so one-sided.
Notre Dame still holds the all time series against Alabama. Not only that, The Tide is a dying dynasty, and the Irish are on the rise with Freeman. By the time the two schools meet again (2028/2029) Alabama’s Golden Boy Saban will be retired. Notre Dame on the rise and Alabama’s dynasty on the collapse? You love to see it ☘️
Man was Tony Rice a great quaterback. Only now do you I realize how great a passer he actually was. That bullet to The Rocket was as well delivered a pass as youj can make. Clausen has that kind of accuracy as well....
My grandfather died this night....we were back from the hospital for a break after spending most of the last two days there, and watching the ND game, when my dad proclaimed at the end of the game, "ND is eventually going to lose a game, but not f'ing today!" Todd M. shouldn't have been such an ahole after SC's last score, came back to haunt him. That ND defense was stout!
+LeGawd James Who's the fool? What I'm saying is absolutly true. I've been watching football a lot longer than you, and I'm telling you that this crap never used to happened. There are plenty of games from the 70s and 80s you can watch on TH-cam to see for yourself. No dancing idiots to be found!
The 80s was the last great decade of college football. The nationalization of the sport combined with influx lower-tier bowl games have perverted the game.

Tis was an incredible game Marinovich was a really good qb and not sure y he couldn't get over the hump in the NFL cuz he had everything you're looking for in an NFL qb...Was athletic , tall--6'4", rocket arm, could read defenses, was accurate, etc..Really had it all so still confused.?.?.?
Derek Wood Plus the fact if you have a 11-1 or 10-2 season its considered a “failure” because you didn’t get into the CFP🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️ Back then going to the Rose Bowl or the Orange Bowl was a reward especially for teams like Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Penn State who don’t see nice weather most of the year.
I have to say I feel bad for him. I'm sure I don't know the full story but from what I've read he lived in a pressure-cooker until it finally was too much.
ESPN profiled him on their "25 Biggest Busts Show". They said he wasn't allowed to be a kid when he was a kid, so acted like one as an adult. That doesn't excuse him from his own responsibility but it's not all his fault either.
The series appears to be pretty cyclical. USC's had ND's number over the last several years but I'm not sure how much longer that's going to last now that 1) Brian Kelly is the head coach at Notre Dame, and 2) Pete Carroll seems to be running into a bit of trouble down in L.A. with "institutional control." I'm actually a fan of Coach Carroll's so I haven't minded seeing them win so much under him. But streaks don't last forever and I wonder how much longer USC's current one is going to last.
I take it you're a fan of the 2007 national champion LSU Tigers. Not sure what a fan of the current best team in college football gets out of stumbling into a message board and talking crap against one of the current worst teams, but I'm hopeful in your case it's simply a matter of immaturity and in time when you reach adulthood you'll have grown out of such habits.
Why is it that it took until well into the 90's that someone designed shoulder pads and jerseys that fit? It looks like a bunch of 7th graders playing in HS equipment!
I remember watching this game while I was in the Navy. I was SOOO pulling for Notre Dame in this game and when they fell behind 7 - 17 I started to have doubts. The Irish OWNED USC for several years in the '80s and into the '90s, but as of right now I'm not sure when they're going to beat the Trojans, again.
What planet are you guys from? All refs are sanctioned from a conference. If they weren't PAC10 refs they were probably BIG10 or BIG EAST refs. Saying refs cheated is the most over used excuse for sore losers. Are refs human? YES! Do they make mistakes? YES! Do they cheat? HELL NO!!! Now grow up.
