These are fantastic sounding bells and the tenor is an absolute prewar gem with the classic Taylor drone. How good one it be if they were rehung in a new metal frame.
What an experiance that must have been especially to go up in the belfry! The tenor at Winchester is definitely glorious and the acoustics to go with the bells is just superb. Definitely a tower on my bucket list! The smile on your face at 20:38 says it all ringing the tenor - Oh blimey you even rung it down! Quick tip - For heavier bells, just bounce them to the balance. Its fine not to when your doing a solo, but for ringing it with the rest, just bounce it off as it makes life a bit easier! I do it with 23cwt tenors even though I am strong enough just to pull them out without bouncing them. Well done though!!
Well done James! Excellent ringing. Is the tennor light or deep set? Looked like it was bouncing a bit when trying to set, but was hard for you to pull off.
When I saw you at St Botolph's Heene in November, you only rang the 1 and 2 - how did you go from that to ringing Winchester's tenor 😂 Well done, you look like you're doing well.
I guess it's because when I ring a light bell, I get used to it quickly and ask if I can ring a heavier bell if I feel ready and now here I am ringing a 35cwt tenor.
great video about the bells, especially the part inside the belfry
