Emperor the band that changed the metal world, Black Sabbath started it all, Emperor took it in a entirely new direction. I think thats the sign of a great band, a band that inspires an entire new genre.
Opeth is one of the best bands out there... Akerfeldt is a genius.... oh and then getting to see them play with Dream Theater on the prog nation tour was probably the greatest thing ever! =D
And riffs, all their creations are great. Samoth and Ihsahn are in my top 3 guitar tandems, along with Murray-Smith from Maiden and Peterson-Skolnick from Testament.

oh... but i forgot to mention that Opeth is not black metal lol... they are, well you cant really define them... i guess progresssive death metal would be a closest description
