You are 100% correct on David Eckstein. He was my dads favorite player while he was on the Angels and still talks about him today for being a scrappy player
David Eckstein is the ultimate dirtbag player and I mean that as a term of endearment. He does all the dirty work and doesn’t need to hit bombs to be effective. An absolute scrap god
He's not even the most famous Eckstein in his family. Unrelated to baseball, but his wife Ashley has provided the voice of Ahsoka Tano since the character's introduction.
Loved Eckstein! His teammate in The Show, was a teammate of mine in high school: Darin Erstad. Darin was more offensively gifted (though less defensively so) than Eck, but cut from the same cloth. Along with Adam Kennedy, those guys were scrappy, gritty, pests that found a way to get on base, move runners, and/or impact the game. Often in ways that left them dirty and/or bloody.
Last season was so miserable for us but he was so nice for us it was a fun season to watch in a horrible year he was a ball of light for us in sandiego
good timing for this video cus my boy JD Davis just got placed on waivers last night, i liked him a lot last year and it sucks they couldnt find a trade. i have a feeling hes gonna end up being a great pickup for someone and turn out to be a prominent 3rd baseman somewhere
Not mentioned here but Asdrubal Cabrera to the WSH in 2019 off waivers from Texas should definitely be an honorable mention. He was instrumental in getting them to the playoffs, and hence the WS championship.
Very recent but someone to keep a eye on is Tyler Holton. He was waived by Arizona and got claimed by the tigers to be a reliever with a 2.11 era in 85 innings for his rookie reason
As an O's fan, loved the flowers for O'day. Had never seen that prank clip before, awesome! But that rant on Eckstein, as others have said, was great! Sounded like me trying to convince ppl how great Juan Pierre was.
Ryan O'Hearn and Aaron Hicks were two waiver claims that became God sends for the Orioles in 2023. They were acquired primarily as depth pieces but became key contributors to the 101-win Orioles in large part due to injuries to everyray starters. O'Hearn was claimed from Kansas City in the offseason and helped fill in for Ryan Mountcastle at First Base who missed time with vertigo. Hicks was claimed off of waivers from the Yankees when Cedric Mullins suffered a groin injuries in May. They played well enough that they both got significant playing time and made the O's postseason roster in 2023.
I work at a baseball facility and one of our instructors played with Eckstein in rookie ball, said he had the best footwork he had ever seen on the diamond
Fun fact about David Eckstein: he’s married to a Jedi. Seriously look it up, she’s arguably more famous than he is lol. He spends his days now helping her run a clothing company focusing on women’s Star Wars attire(when she’s not voicing her character).
He and Travis Shaw were two beasts on the corners in 2018. Both of them completely fell off the next year though. Aguilar resurrected himself in Miami for a couple years but Shaw’s career never recovered.
As much as calling out Cleveland's inability to keep young studs and their amazing ability to trot out duds HURTS ME, please keep doing it. Let fans know how bad the organization is at this. Make the problem global. It's horrendous and we're ponied up to do it again with Arias, Rocchio, Freeman, Tena, Brito, Martinez, Valera, Rodriguez, etc. Why stockpile these guys if you're going to mismanage them so poorly?

That player archetype is missing in the mlb !!!
I loved David Eckstein, one of my all time favorite players. Such an underrated player.

The jolly father/uncle rant was too damn good lmao
If you see Jets/Knicks/Yanks/Rangers in bio, (or insert teams of another city) you're sure to see some of the dumbest baseball takes of all time.
the sorry trev text!😅🤣
Darren O'Day was such a beast for the Os. Definitely deserves to be in the Orioles Hall of Fame.
Wish he stuck around longer. Wonder if he could throw a sidearm knuckle to 45 and pick up some more appearances.
Cody Ross, Giants 2010 NLCS MVP.
I'll never forget when David Eckstein said he didn't like or listen to any music . I can't get behind that.
Gary Sanchez was a godsend for the padres last year. He should split the Cy Young with Snell
Last season was so miserable for us but he was so nice for us it was a fun season to watch in a horrible year he was a ball of light for us in sandiego
@@kylestelter7550 it was horrible hitting wise, but we did walk away with 2 GG, 1 Platnium glove, and a Cy Young
They DONT hustle it’s true 😂 your comedic timing has gotten so good, thanks for another banger
Shoutout to David Eckstein for being Mr. Ahsoka Tano! 😁
Idk how i didn’t know that until a few weeks ago lol. Even after knowing both of them for over a decade 😅
7:13 Jolly conveniently ignoring the fact the Mets were tied with the Halos there :P
That little "rant" you went on was hilarious and VERY relatable. Keep it up my man you're doing fantastic! You've got my sub
Buck breaking, cackling, and saying “Can I get on it?” made me lol
The Chicago accent growing as the rant went on killed me😂
Justin Turner and Max Muncy maybe with the Dodgers??🧐
That Buck Showalter/Darren O’Day prank was 🤣🤣🤣!!
good timing for this video cus my boy JD Davis just got placed on waivers last night, i liked him a lot last year and it sucks they couldnt find a trade. i have a feeling hes gonna end up being a great pickup for someone and turn out to be a prominent 3rd baseman somewhere
Was literally just playing mlb power pros 2008 today great soundtrack same as every mlb power pros game love hearing it in the vids!
Another classic Jolly Olive banger
It's so good to see Gary Sanchez getting back on track, his defense has improved exponentially as well.
And David Eckstein married Ashoka Tano!
Not mentioned here but Asdrubal Cabrera to the WSH in 2019 off waivers from Texas should definitely be an honorable mention. He was instrumental in getting them to the playoffs, and hence the WS championship.
“And they don’t hustle either” 😂😂
Love the Power Pros music
This video was worth the view just for the bit at 8:25 lol. Well played sir
Great vid! Only thing worth mentioning is Blake Snell and Gary was such a great duo because Gary historically had owned snell at the plate
Very recent but someone to keep a eye on is Tyler Holton. He was waived by Arizona and got claimed by the tigers to be a reliever with a 2.11 era in 85 innings for his rookie reason
Should do a list of the best rookie classes in mlb history
As an O's fan, loved the flowers for O'day. Had never seen that prank clip before, awesome! But that rant on Eckstein, as others have said, was great! Sounded like me trying to convince ppl how great Juan Pierre was.
I'm an O's fan so I might be biased, but Aaron Hicks had an insane resurgence after we picked him up last season
You should do a “Best minor league deals”. Video, I think that would bangggg
Darren O’day is the only reliever I bought a jersey for, and I will always appreciate him. Hurt when he went to ATL
Respect for adding Gary
Wow. An Andrew Bailey shoutout. My favorite pitcher to face in college.
Dude battled hard coming off the same injury that eventually ended his career.

Good point about the lack of hustle in today's 50 hr batflipper types, Jolly
I was 10 in '06 and always forget Eckstein won a WS with the Angels, too. Always felt like that team was all forever-Cardinals
As a Dodger fan, I am glad we snagged Evan Phillips who’s been our key cog to our team

You should do a video on some Speedsters who played in the 90s like Brian Hunter and Tom Goodwin and Lance Johnson..
I would love to see a rule 5 draft video like this. Unless there is one and I'm missing it. Shane Victorino was a huge rule 5 pick for the philles
Power Pros AND Mario Superstar baseball music?! Jolly Olive knows ball
Yes, Gary Sanchez has his moments but when he gets the contract. Get ready
Love the cubs hat jolly
Jesus Aguilar's run with the Brewers was magical
He and Travis Shaw were two beasts on the corners in 2018. Both of them completely fell off the next year though. Aguilar resurrected himself in Miami for a couple years but Shaw’s career never recovered.
Aguilar also played in the Home Run Derby in 2018. I was there
David Eckstein is proof we need an official “Hall of Very Very Good”
David eckstain’s wife is also the voice of every young Star Wars fans childhood

My buddy has a custom player Darren oday Orioles jersey but since they didn’t allow apostrophes he drew it on with sharpie lol
Mets legend Gary Sanchez
Adolis Garcia was DFA'd by STL and Texas and has somehow escaped both lists.
Thank you for reminding me Soriano ended 3rd in RoY voting with…. 0.0 bWar lol
Can you please do a video about the Yankees trade history?
Do videos on Luis Castillos 35 game hit streak and the 2006 marlins w Joe Girardi
Scott Podsednik, Casey Mcgeehee, Danny Kolb
O'Day and Eckstein played at the University of Florida
JD Davis bout to be on pt 3 for the mets
I didnt know that some of those guys you showed before Jesus Aguilar were guardians. The Guardians would be soooo much better with them.
Had no idea Darren O'Day was an Angel and a Met!
Just make this an ongoing neverending series. Please and thank you.
Is that MLB Power Pros music in the background?
Bro Cody Ross to the Giants. Dude won the NLCS MVP
Part 3 please
Yates got his Hoffman award totally snubbed in 2019... Hader had nothing better than Yates that season except for cumulative innings and strikeouts
Frank Schwindel and his 2021 linsanity run
I find it criminal that adolis Garcia isn't here
JD Martinez is another one!
Does Jose Bautista count? Not how he got to the Jays but was a waiver claim and a rule 5 in his time before figuring it out in Toronto.
David Eckstein put the E in effort.
Whoops I think you mixed up Willson and William Contreras at 2:31
Jolly Gang 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My favorite player of all time David Eckstein!!!!
david eckstein’s wife is also Ashoka Tano
Don’t forget the most recent worst decision by CLE: Yandy Díaz (traded for Jake Bauers 😫)
David Eckstein is also married to the original Ashoka dudes married to a Jedi.
