    Long Range trading is the role I settled on for my cutter cause it's so good at it. And ignore the idiot comments. Those are generally min/max players who just want to feel superior. Some of us play the game for the actual fun of it, which includes experimentation. Play your game you're way.

      Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you're on the subscriber list now! Good things to come. I'm currently already working on a new build.

    I'm a dedicated Type-9 space trucker personally, but this is a pretty slick build.

      I've got like 200 hours with it and damn this is a slow thing. Imperial cutter is way faster to farm money

    * ~Space Time~* Hypothetical: The Imperial Cutter, "as a dedicated trade build" I'm thinking on capitalizing on it's speed and shield strength, naked of all weapons. Most large ships are slow and thus hitting the thrusters and waiting out the FSD seems a viable way of swift trade. I've played ED a long long time, yet I'm one that avoided getting into the engineers, and also avoided flying "Imperial anything". This year however, I decided to get into speed and found myself getting "Imperial" to reach for that goal. I have an "Imperial Eagle" engineered for speed and shields and found that I loved playing that build. The advanced docking computer struggles with landing it, but still manages to do the job. "Swift docking" (I mean very swift) is the main perk, as it greatly increases turn around time at drop-off and pick-up time of cargo. That docking operation is like making a pit stop at the Indy-500. That's all a great perk by itself, yet when interdicted, when I didn't give the enemy the slip, then the plan changes to hitting the thrusters a few times while the FSD gets ready, meanwhile absorbing whatever long shots the pirate may be able to land on the ship before pulling away with the enhanced speed. So my question to you is, "how fast do you think an Imperial Cutter can actually go, and what engineering could make it go it's very most top speed?" Have you heard of anyone making a really fast "IC" and how fast was it? This is my goal, so what do you think?

    If u know how to strip down a python for bare bones trades you can strip down the cutter for the best cargo capacity in the entire game.

    6a fuel scoop??? Why? You don't need a fuel scoop to do loop trading

    Would love to know all the Modifications/Engineering done on the ship. The video only shows/mentions a fraction of those.

    In the right hands a Cutter makes a darned good combat ship. You can't compare it to an FDL for the simple fact that it's not an FDL. You can't FLY it like an FDL. The Cutter is a fargin TANK so fly it like one. Maybe add an SLF bay and get you a good pilot for the fighter. Module, Hull, and Shield enhancements. Perhaps a #4 PA if you like, but most I've seen seem to favor a #4 Beam Laser either fixed or gimbal. Same for the pair of #3 HP's. Those 4 #2 spots way out there are just right for turrets or missiles either one. All that space will hold a LOT of reinforcement and look good doing it.
    The #1 claim to fame for the Cutter isn't it's cargo capacity. It won't haul THAT much more than a T-9. The main value to it is that is is practically immune to interdiction. It takes something bigger than the average Pirate is flying to stop a Cutter unless the Pilot of that Cutter lets you stop them. And if they let you stop them. You probably are not going to like the little friend they want to introduce you to.
    I have a Cutter I use strictly for mining. It has no normal weaponry at all. But the asteroids fear me.
    I have another Cutter for freight hauling. 700+ tons of cargo protected by a #4 PA, a pair of #3 Lasers, and 4 Pack Hounds. Backed up by good armor and Prismatic Shields. A couple of volleys from the pack hounds will erase most ships smaller than an FDL or Python.

    I would get rid of the fuel scoop. If you're trading, you'll be landing at stations constantly and can just refuel there. You also need to get a supercruise assist because with the supercruise assist trick it SAVES SO much time when approaching stations. LIke, I can't fly without a supercruise assist ever again because of it. It will save you a full minute or so each time you approach a space station.

    I "had" a Cutter....before I resold it to buy an Anaconda (for mining/exploration) and a clipper for trade since I didn't have NEARLY enough to fully outfit her. As a base model, she had less jump range than a Cobra. So.....I'm core mining until I unlock ELITE and can then fully outfit her

    It would be nice if you can go back to putting the coriolis page. hard to see all of the engineering without it.

    An interesting set up and something to bare in mind for when I am ready for the Cutter yet but the idea of an armed trader certainly appeals to me. In the mean time hitting the guardian sites would not be a bad idea as preparation.

    • @thetryhardgamer8387
      @thetryhardgamer8387  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah it's absolutely worth it. If you get the mats. for both the guardian frame shift booster as well as the shield boosters, you'll have a heavily armed trader with 35+ light years of jump range. It's insane.

      @@thetryhardgamer8387 I finally got around to buying and equipping my Imperial Cutter. The ship has already paid for itself with trading wing missions. One thing that is not clear from your video is the engineering for the shields and boosters. I have used a 6A prismatic (because I had one) with reinforced and high cap but I could do with a pointer on the boosters. I was thinking about filling in the thermal hole but that is a far my thinking has taken me. Otherwise I have used a couple point defense to protect my hatch and I am considering using some pack hound missiles to make a pirates life miserable.

    what is your technique for doing trading? do you do missions or figure out best places to buy and sell using third party tools?

    • @thetryhardgamer8387

      I use third party tools for my cold trading and do missions every once in a while where I can find them.

    hm no point defense to take down hatch breakers? If you get interdicted by a pirate more than likely they will use them.

    • @thetryhardgamer8387
      @thetryhardgamer8387  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, trust me, this ship has no problem avoiding interdiction, oddly enough. Its turn rate sucks horrible but its really easy to get out of interdictions.
