After going through the crime reports, crime scene photos, autopsy reports, etc., I have adopted the tentative hypothesis that there were multiple killers and they weren't the letter writer(s). The serial killer theory developed after the phone call following the BRS crime. But the caller gave incorrect directions from the police department to the crime scene--the same directions that had been broadcast earlier in the ambulance dispatch (the ambulance was not located at the police department). The LHR incident was well known to have occurred because it had been in the papers. There is zero hard evidence that the caller was the person who committed the BRS crime. Plus there has been discussion that the initial report of what was said in that phone call was later altered to include reference to the LHR crime. The BRS crime is a rat's nest of complication. The fact that Ferrin had been involved with two cops, and a whole lot more, should not be dismissed as insignificant. There are commonalities and diffferences between the LHR and BRS crimes. But the LB crime is significantly different from the other three canonical crimes. It happened during daylight. The killer was on foot. He wore a costume. Very significantly he engaged the couple in extended conversation and managed to con them into believing that he only wanted their money and car. The con was entirely unnecessary to enable him to kill them so we can conclude that it was psychologically important to him. The victims were tied. The killer stabbed them. According to Hartnell, when the killer began stabbing Shepard, unlike when he stabbed Hartnell, he went into a frenzy and began trembling. I would suggest that he wasn't trembling from fear but from excitement. He left a message on Hartnell's car door. The behavior of the killer in the LB case indicates that he was a sexual psychopath who derived sexual pleasure from conning, binding and stabbing. These are very "typical" non-mysterious facts, but it was a good effort. Here is something to consider about the "hood" that is part of "Mystery 5". The appearance has typically been described as being "squared off" at the top and had a "Z" symbol on the front (whether jacket or part of the hood). This suggests a few possibilities: 1) There was a type of helmet under or it was cloth over an older style welders helmet. 2) There was a little framework (as it were) squaring the upper portion. 3) There was an old style police, ranger, dress army cap underneath that would do this. The "Z" symbol would have to be either: 1) Professionally sewed on patch from a local shop 2) An iron on decal patch 3) Stenciled on with white paint or other white substance 4) Hand sewn by (most likely female) someone with at least high average sewing skills The mystery is that the "Z" (unless having the resources and having done this many years prior) probably would not have taken that amount of time to prepare (if truly random) unless part of a small or larger group. Hence, the speculation that there was a type of "cult" involved.

These are very "typical" non-mysterious facts, but it was a good effort. Here is something to consider about the "hood" that is part of "Mystery 5".
The appearance has typically been described as being "squared off" at the top and had a "Z" symbol on the front (whether jacket or part of the hood). This suggests a few possibilities:
1) There was a type of helmet under or it was cloth over an older style welders helmet.
2) There was a little framework (as it were) squaring the upper portion.
3) There was an old style police, ranger, dress army cap underneath that would do this.
The "Z" symbol would have to be either:
1) Professionally sewed on patch from a local shop
2) An iron on decal patch
3) Stenciled on with white paint or other white substance
4) Hand sewn by (most likely female) someone with at least high average sewing skills
The mystery is that the "Z" (unless having the resources and having done this many years prior) probably would not have taken that amount of time to prepare (if truly random) unless part of a small or larger group. Hence, the speculation that there was a type of "cult" involved.

It's funny how people only care when it's a serial killer or a random shooting but we have tons of people dying everyday due to war, land, resources, drugs, gangs, and modern day slavery and not one person gives a fuck. I find that really weird.
Maybe 'The Zodiac Killer' was only in the minds of people, and that it was actually the doings of different people. Maybe the killings were inspired by the first murder, and killers saw that the only way to kill and not get caught, was to take on the identity as the 'Zodiac Killer'. The Zodiac killer wasn't a mere one person, rather the acts of individuals inspired to do his deed.

1) They are more in depth and advanced than "meets the eye".
2) They betray higher than average training and intelligence.
3) They betray different thought styles (even if penned singularly) and perhaps a group-think.
4) They betray either some working on a previous "Z" case or long-term planning.
