Why the OMP M1 Is my favorite 3D Heli

  • I've been flying this little heli for a couple years now and I LOVE this thing! After 10 crashes I only have a broken skid and a cracked canopy. Even if I had broken something, parts they are really cheap. It doesn't fly as nice as bigger helis but it flies nice enough. Plus it gives you the confidence to try new things and learn faster since you don't have to worry too much about crashing. On that note, today I am attempting my first IRL stationary piro-funnels. Join me as I fail miserably! XD I had one that looked alright but the most important thing I learned from this practice was how to save it from crashing when the trick goes wrong. Once I build enough confidence I'll give this track a shot with my OMP M4 and get that on camera!

This little heli sure is built like a tank! I could not believe that this M1 was still flying after all these quite hard crashes. This is what I call a real live flight simulator! It was great to see that with every time your ability tos save it from crashing was getting better! Keep pusing! Fantastic place to fly in winter and when it's dark outside!

@@RCCopterLove I was really surprised as well. I have broken parts before in similar crashes. I guess my luck was just off the charts yesterday! 😁

@@RECK_Adventures Maybe your main blades save you from more damage? They seem to be a bit more flexible or soft that the stock blades? Do you have stock blades? They might fit better to your 3D fyling and offer more precision - for the cost of more possible damage.

@@RCCopterLove ohhhh I hadn't considered that! That could be. I only just started using these for visibility. I didn't notice any change in precision but they are lighter and a bit longer cord (leading edge to trailing edge) so I noticed more bite in hard collective changes even at the lower headspeed I run. I'll try switching back and see if I notice anything 🙂

@@RECK_Adventures I did not know about these differences in measurements! WARNING NOTICE: I do not take responsibility for broken servo horns, more bent spindle shafts!! 😀😀

What size microheli plastic blades do you have on there?, and how do they fly compared to the stock ones? I used to love flying bright plastic blades on these tiny things (an opportunity missed by both goosky and OMPhobby IMHO)

@@corionisme I also love high visibility blades. These are the 126mm ones. They say "for M1 EVO and Goosky S1" in the title. I don't notice too much of a difference between these and stock. They have a thicker cord so you you get more bite in hard collective maneuvers at lower headspeeds. Going to switch back soon to see if I feel any other difference.
