    COMPONENTS - The shadow decks are completely replaced, and look and play great. The only small complaint is with a couple replacement battlegrounds and paths. The card backs are noticeably lighter than our original cards. Easy to ignore, but slightly annoying.

    Love these quick reviews where you point out the pros and cons. You helped me get off the fence on this one and walk away as you pointed out some pitfalls in games that I don't like that are present in this one.

    It's a great game. I have been playing with the fan made solo rules on BGG and have been having a fantastic time with the game. It is tough to win, but I'm fine with that. You might want to give the fan made solo rules a try and see how they compare with the official solo rules. I'm still looking forward to this expansion when it is released and keen to see which solo rules I prefer.

      That's a great suggestion! I didn't know there were fanmade rules. I wonder if they got the balance better...

      I will check out the fan made rules myself once the game comes in for me. Thanks for letting the community know :)

      @@OneStopCoopShopdid you ever get a chance to try the fan made solo rules?

      @kylemoore7746 not yet. I haven’t borrowed it again from my friend who owns it

    I have tried 1 vs 1 and Triology 2 vs 2. It is simply no point in playing anything but 2 vs 2 if you can. It is way better. With a small thematic deck and more knowledge of teh game (crads, battlegrounds, path) you try to plan/evaulte all important cards and still you have a teammate to try help/communicate (but not to ...revealing) with. I like the big boardgame but thsi is only 3 hours and way less space and setup-takedown...

    Dangit! I was hoping they'd nail it as I want that coop LOTR card game experience without shelling out hundreds for the LCG.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think with some minor houseruling it can be pretty good

    Thanks for the review! I have the War of the Ring on preorder with my LGS. A shame about some of the cons here but hopefully I get a few fun plays out of it still with hopefully the balance not deterring me from playing. I still enjoy LotR and this card game form might have more appeal to me than the LCG where I struggle to have time to deck construct prior to playing (I am aware I can look up some builds though which is what I kind of do with Arkham Horror haha.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is definitely easier to get to the table than the LCG, in my opinion :)

    At this point o have not lost a game yet on solo/coop.
    Its quite easy to win, even on challenging mode.
    Does anyone have a good balanced home rule that makes it harder? My friends and I now more playing to see who can beat the shadow with the highest numbers instead of being afraid we might lose.
    I love these games though! 2vs2 are definitely in my top 5 favorite games ever!

      crazy to hear the variance in difficulty you are having. Colin is better than me at the game, and he says he wins around 40% of the time. You’re the only person I’ve heard of who wins every time. Makes me wonder if we are playing the same rules 😅

      Yes probably no the same rules 😂

    After going playing against the shadow I feel mixed about it. Whilst not difficult, checking the flow chart with the different levels of usefulness, kind of useful etc... I think it boarders on the level of too fiddly. I guess I am just so spoiled from something like Heat or Tales to amaze or hero realms in which the solo is quick and elegant when compared to War of the Ring.
    For the purely solo players out there I am not sure if I would recommend the card game. That being said if you have people to play with (especially if you can do a full 2v2) it is very much worth it.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it can be annoying to run for sure. Agree that multiplayer is great!

    I fear in co-op and solo the game completely lacks its tension that hold the game together in 2 vs. 2. I wouldnt even play it 1 vs. 1 although I may try it at some point.

    • @PMMagro
      @PMMagro ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Having tried the team game 2 vs 2 I will not play 1 vs 1 again... It is WAY better 2 vs 2

      I am curious to hear, once the game is in wider distribution, whether others are finding it too hard too. I'm reviewing in a bit of a vacuum here :)

    For solo/coop LOTR, I'd probably stick with the FFG game. This does have a pick up and play advantage though.
    How's the competitive content in this expansion anw? Does it even have any?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has none. This is purely a solo/co-op add-on, replacing the original shadow decks with automated ones

    I must say that I don't understand this review.
    The game is flawlessly balanced for a solo game. The winning rate is around 35% which is perfect for my taste, and not just for my taste. That percentage is a target for many solo designs.
    Anyway, thank you for the review.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, like I said during that part of the review I think I might just be bad at the game.
      But do you agree with the other parts of the review, like the great card play decisions? Or do you think that was wrong too?

    Click bait continues? Hahaha

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It’s not a TITLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINTS AND QUESTION MARKS!?!?!?!?!?!
      And at least in my opinion what the title says is exactly the same as what I said in the review.
      So maybe our definitions of “clickbait” don’t match 😜😅
