DMZ was fun in the beginning when most people were completing the missions but you had to be aware of other players/threats. In the late stages of the game it was full of warzone rejects looking for easy kills as a break from warzone. I don't know how to keep it from degrading but I thought it was fun initially
100% this right here. If they did go the route of both PVE and PVPVE, then the Warzone sweats would have no one to pick on as they'd all be in the former, lol.
Yup. WZ rejects indeed. They where not capable of getting kills in wz so they farmed easy kills while players were doing missions. Then came the pay to win uav vests. Uninstalled from there.
All I want is solo lobbies. I spent most of my time in DMZ playing it like an open-world MGS game: get in with minimal equipment, procure guns on site, finish as many objectives as possible and exfil. Being up against full teams all the time got tiring pretty fast.
yea,, that would be a great mode.. or have solos, duos, trios and quads.. so you can choose. i played 95% Solo.. only did a squad when i had to, or, joined one after being revived cuz i was sniped again at an exfil or buy station.. by one of the many 4-6man squads just roaming the map to wreck players games..
Solo DMZ Really was a survival game. There was a brief update where the bots seemed to have 100% accuracy at any distance. Solo runs we're damn near impossible but satisfying to make it out
@dan26dlp that update came so early in the life cycle. I was never a solo player but it was obvious when that update happened after literally a couple weeks after launch. It made it dreadful to play a lot of times.
Surprisingly, I think DMZ is the only thing that'd get me back into COD. Warzone, mutliplayer, and zombies have just become so stale and predictable. I really liked how fresh DMZ felt!
@ I mean yeah if you play on PC lol but that’s just generally a COD problem. I’ve never had that problem myself when playing DMZ but I also played at launch and before the launch of MWIII before they cut updates
The biggest draw of DMZ for me was the crazy sandbox nature of the mode. The bots everywhere combined with the other players (who ranged from friendly old grandpas to sweaty warzone killers) doing their own things made almost every game a unique experience.
This is what made me love it. Everything was different every time. You could have the slowest game where you never see a single person to games where every squad converges.
Moreover, PvP only happens when a team would go rogue. Meaning constant stress would be replaced by what's essentially a (possibly) really hard objective on the map. Wich would be a good thing for DMZ imo. But as a solo player on the european server I am fairly biased.
The problem with being PvPvE is that DMZ quickly devolved into a mini Warzone with experienced squads mapping out the spawn locations of each squad and hunting them down relentlessly, which made for a not so enjoyable experience for an average or casual player who was in for the missions and objectives.
Exactly this. I feel like the mode died off harder because it would eventually devolve into mini warzone. And if it's going to basically be warzone with extra steps why not just go play warzone ? There was nothing more frustrating than trying to complete a mission and getting jumped by a squad who are literally only playing to kill other players. Which they could do in warzone but they don't because DMZ allowed them to come in with exactly what they needed/wanted in order to maximize PvP kills
I think having both PvPvE and PvE versions would be awesome! DMZ was fun and honestly it got more support than warzone and multiplayer combined for the first 4 seasons. New map every season and new features kept it constantly fresh. Also having the main map specifically built for DMZ instead made for Warzone then just used for DMZ would be sick
I had some fun with DMZ, but it lost its luster pretty quickly once it became clear that it was a magnet for people who got their feelings hurt in WZ and switched to DMZ exclusively to grief/camp exfils to soothe their egos. I definitely had some cool experiences with randoms and prox chat, but I _also_ had some of the most insufferably toxic and demoralizing encounters I've had in any mode across the history of the franchise. I'm not interested in a new version of DMZ _at all_ if there aren't some major changes or alternative ways to play.
The luster was lost for those griefers even faster. They hated bots. So I took the great, with the bad. Because man, the adventures were so fun. Also remember, there were a lot of missions that required fighting real enemies
One more thing I'd like to add to your points regarding DMZ 2026, is that I would also like a way to customize contraband weapons in my stash for a nominal fee in the menus rather than out in the field. What they did with MW2's DMZ weapon customization with buy stations were a step in the right direction, but with how clunky the menus were to navigate while in that shop, it was much risker than to simply find a kitted out weapon from a legendary box or a dropped stash.
IW does a few genuinely innonative things like gunsmith, gunfight mode, DMZ, Raids, and game engine. But for some reason. They fuck up on basic cod fundamentals like minimap or perks and can't take criticism or feedback in any way. Your concern for IW next cod is valid here.
@@dalberttran8134 the cod cycle: iw fucks the entire game up to unrepairable levels sh is tasked to repair the game in 3 months of work trey just doing their thing
Not counting on them changing their ways, or even using ideas from other studios (they probably won't have detailed weapon stats... again), since their games sell the most
2:08 You are very right that DMZ is smaller but the people who love it, love it. MW2 DMZ felt like COD as a teenager in the late '00/early '10s: Making friends you boot back on with all the time and making lifelong enemies with people you quite literally never see again
I've ran into a Dutch guy on at least 2 separate occasions since I first met him and got assimilated into his squad during Season 1 of DMZ. He's still playing as of August last year and I assimilated him into my squad after me and a buddy killed him, entirely by chance. DMZ is magical.
Dmz was amazing but not perfect! Getting quick scoped by a 1 attachment rpk from 20 miles away got boring very fast! The game was broken in places and tier spawning got tedious. The enemy spawning in when nothing was around then 10 tier 3 enemies appearing took the fun out of it .
I haven't played BO6 in a gooood while, but I will always watch your videos Ace. Just to show support for one of the greatest (and coolest) guy in this community.
I really like the idea of both. Running around Al Mazra fighting off bots(some of them quite challenging) was a lot of fun but all my memories are of the hype pvp times between the chill pve times. I think minimum it should be PVPVE, the discussion should be if they add a dedicated PVE mode too.
I never want pvpve tbh, anytime im just trying to do something on the outskirts of the map, just enjoying my time, some loser has to drive by and try and kill me. I agree that it should be both but if its only one? pve only imo
@@VagabondVerdas They can incorporate a gameplay mechanic that makes it riskier to target operators. I don't know what that looks like, but similar to the Bounty system they installed, except make it activate sooner (not after that player has wiped a few squads).
If they want DMZ to work, they need to do it properly, hardcore style, no mini map, no hud, no health bars etc like Tarkov, obviously dont make everyone die in 3 bullets but make it feel more like a proper extraction game! To be honest DMZ was fun to begin with but became kinda stale & then got left in the dust!
I think you have a good view on this one. There should always be a 3rd mode that has a PVE option available. Even though it might not be everyone’s flavor, there are many PvP first options in COD. Having a low stress COD option is crucial. From my perspective, I would also have two versions of DMZ moving forward, but structure them to appeal to the different player bases. The PvPvE version, I would structure more like a traditional extraction game with less story mode like objectives/faction missions and include more risk/reward tied to high tier loot zones and interactions with other players. Whereas the PVE version would be very similar to the original DMZ, but with an increased emphasis on missions, factions, and other OBJs.
Agree - the low-intensity aspect is crucial. I think that's what they go for with the Raids and Spec Ops Missions, but those are so linear that they aren't fun like an open-world map, with multiple players.
Ground War maps are much smaller than the Battle Royale maps. Hard to imagine how a PvE only and PvPvE could coexist on a single map that's also the size of one point of interest in Warzone. Maybe they'll have different versions of the same Ground War map? Look forward to seeing what they do with the mode.
It'll probably be several maps connected, like MW2 had with invasion (e.g., the border and downtown Los Almas maps were going to be on one large map; the Al Mazrah). I do like the idea of a DMZ-specific map; they can design it with DMZ specifically in mind, plus it gives BR players an incentive to play DMZ
Previously most of the ground war maps were locations on the battle royale map. Now they will instead be locations on the dmz map. The map isn’t shrinking
A PvE with a more difficult AI could be really enjoyable PvPvE is what ruined DMZ for me because it was full of so many campers that trying to exfill was nearly impossible once all the regular players stopped playing
Have played DMZ since launch. Brought me back into COD. This mode has so much potential. We need 1) Actual stash/hideout 2 )meaningful missions 3) Buy stations OUTSIDE MATCH. You got what you load in and find/loot/kill for. 4)some type of auction house. 5)Solo option 6)Do more with the genius weapon case idea. Limitless options there. Done.
Oh I played and played DMZ. Still do occasionally. I could talk for hours about it. I loved the range of missions and completed everything there was to do. Yes the roaming warzone killers started to make it harder and harder, oh and the rampant cheaters. However the best aspect was the collaboration and interaction, I made so many friends playing that game. Unlike MWZ, Warzone or multiplayer where no one talks. In DMZ people talked. Amazing. Balance is what they need to bring to the game. PVP/ PVE for sure but creating the balance is key. Say UAV’s are only available once you have done a load of missions and they are stupidly expensive until you have achieved lots in the game? For example.
I would absolutely LOVE to have DMZ back into COD, I played DMZ a lot when MW2 (2022) came out and honestly I enjoyed it very much. I'm that type of person who would play COD just for the grind or for the hard work and struggles that come along with that so personally having BOTH of them would be something I would like or love to see happened. I can just switch to which mode of DMZ I would like to play etc etc so personally I would say both.
A PvE only DMZ is just grinding so you can grind better. PvPvE DMZ is grinding so you can survive. The bots are so easy, the only way to make the missions thrilling is to add the threat of random PvP encounters.
I loved DMZ! I only stopped playing because of the 6-man teams and invisible players. I liked the pvp but the focus should be on unlocks through missions and pve. lf they only do PvE and not PvP it should be waayyy harder imo and the unlocks should be way better.
They need to forget the missions that require you to kills others. They also need a sort of karma system too. Also, if the menu was in some kind of base camp where you can move around, interact and upgrade your actual base, would be absolute peak.
DMZ was what got me back into CoD. PvPvE meant you could go in with a plan to get some missions done but get hit by another team or something and spend 30 mins scrambling and rotating to recover a teammate and get out alive and maybe keep your items and/or exfil streaks. Anything could happen and there was a cost to losing*. None of the other modes have anything even resembling an actual loss condition with any stakes beyond "didn't win" and so are much less meaningful. Playing to maintain/increase your K/D feels a lot less meaningful, and playing to get 30 seconds on a mic at the end to be the biggest asshole possible in that limited time slot feels like a pretty unfulfilling lifestyle. A PvP mode would be fine in addition, and I would likely play it when I'm off my game but still want to play. *I know.
I do hope if they bring back DMZ, they have a PvE mode separate from the standard PvPvE, if nothing else than to help get seasonal challenges done. The Haunting event in DMZ was quite fun (especially with The Butcher boss fight), but it soon grew aggravating as there was tons of enemy teams roving and killing people who just trying to complete the challenges. The challenge should be what you’re trying to achieve on the map, not a GM Top 100 ex-FaZe clan team gunning you down when you are trying to do a challenge. Although I did have one of the most epic escapes and successful extractions during The Haunting: rest of my team down, hunted by enemy players, riding a dirt bike in the gas, headed to the last extraction helo, and I actually got ahead of them, boarded it, and got out alive! That was epic!
used to love playing PvP, but gradually I've been pulling away from it specially in more recent years, mostly due to cheating but also for the ways companies keep on trying to maximize monetary gains (particularly trying to maximize "popularity" at the expense of customers, even if the majority of those remain oblivious to this)... popular stuff is not intrinsically bad, but in comparison w/ greater numbers everything becomes more watered down, loses character, and tends to be more unwieldy... on top of a game mode that already is more prone to toxicity/abuse... unfortunately, but as personal policy goes, if is not enjoyable any longer, just move on... but that's just me...
I have the same problem with dmz. The whole pvpve is really annoying and people play like its wz. When you get downed and ask for a revive, they'll either take all your loot then revive u and other times they wouldn't even revive u. Puls the bots are even more annoying because they will be hella of them shooting you far hella far. Also, I hate that its only trio's mode and not a playlist for solos, duos & trios.
DMZ was the perfect mode for those of us who want a chill game instead of constantly needing to be “on our A game” to have fun. Perfect for Saturday mornings.
MWII DMZ (PvPvE) brought me back from a 10 year COD haitus. It was basically a faster paced version of Escape from Tarkov. I still drop in to DMZ from time to time but I have mostly moved on to Tarkov now. However, I feel like Tarkov is too sweaty for many people, so COD could find a niche of people who want an extraction shooter but don't want to manage hunger, bleeds, broken bones, individual magazines, etc. It could be casual Tarkov. To answer your question, I hope that there is a PvE only mode of any future DMZ. Because it absolutely sucks right. Now when I try to drop into DMZ and everyone is a Chad.
Hopefully Infinity Ward bring back some reasonability to CoD and remove the omi movement... PvPvE sounds like a good idea but it has to be executed well. I really don't like the fact that there are some people in DMZ that only focus on PvP and getting kills... I leads to a rather unbalanced game where some people just get "disturbed" by other players... So PvE is a necessity to have because it will be similar to the MWIII Zombies Gamemode MWZ and that was awesome.
I loved DMZ, I think it was pretty well supported and I had a blast completing all the missions, It broke my heart when they stopped supporting it and I hope we get a resurrection of that mode
DMZ is an untouched gem that they haven’t got the full potential outta it yet. It was still in beta during MW2 lifecycle and im a strong believer they should’ve continued updating/supporting it yearly DMZ should be a yearly mode like warzone continuing with each game it has the fan base to continue and with supporting the mode it could rival other extraction looter shooters like escape from tarkov, delta force and others
For context, I regularly play DMZ to this day with my friends. Hopped back in a bit too late to complete most faction missions but still get some done here and there, and the PVP is still engaging and fun outside of a few bugs and balance issues. If they decide to have both PVPVE and PVE modes, one of my primary concerns is how the loot is distributed in the PVE only mode. If you’re able to acquire similar amounts of cash and equal level valuables (large backpacks, perked 3 plate vests, kill streaks, contraband weapons) in the PVE mode and just save their loot to their out-of-game loot pools, people will just go into the PVE mode, get all of that stuff, and go into the PVPVE mode and have an advantage. Even if they die, they can go back to their locker and rekit their characters. I think a good way to balance it would be to have the PVE mode be solely focused on completing faction missions and in-game contracts with slightly lower tier loot (no perk 3 plate vests, no killstreaks, less cash generally). This would still allow players to rekit their characters to go into PVPVE, but their equipment will be slightly lower in value and power. Then the PVPVE mode can have all of the higher tier loot available to grab from bots/other players or barter for at buy stations, and have a bonus reward for completing faction missions and contracts in the PVPVE mode. Looking forward to see if they decide to bring it back! Other DMZ players, let me know what else you’d like to see in the game/what changes you’d like to see.
I enjoyed the hell out of DMZ, as it felt totally different from the pace of normal MP or even warzone. It was by far my most played mode in MW22 (with friends). I 100% agree that we need both options, PvE and PvPvE. MWZ got stale to me because it was a single map over the course of the entire year, as where DMZ had a variety of maps that added some needed changes here and there. I really appreciated when we got the ability to add attachments in DMZ. I think there's a lot of potential there to be a lot of fun with that mode, especially when IW could try changing up the normal 6v6 again.
Being honest, I don’t really care because I’m not buying an IW cod for awhile. At this point, with the exception of MW2019, I don’t think IW has released a solid game since the original MW3 so there’s no point in spending the money
I think it would be easy enough to do both, especially if they're on smaller maps. I liked the simple but challenging flow that DMZ had, hopefully they keep the features added later like barters and in match gunsmithing
PVPVE was what made DMZ fun and unique. Doing missions while being targeted by real players at times was frustrating, but man what a good feeling when you get on that exfil after completing missions or taking out some loot for your next run. Had some memorable final exfil moments. Sometimes you have chaotic fights where there’s 10 plus players fighting to get on exfil and sometimes there’s a solo just trying to get out so you shoot him an invite and let him get out too. Could be super toxic but at the same time you could make some good buddies along the way. Best thing cod ever made imo and needs to come back. I agree the bundles were a bit much, especially that gave you perks right off the start. I think a huge win for that mode would also be to have a home headquarters you could upgrade and walk around, check out loot, etc. Super pumped for this news, please please don’t make it PVE only. Would be awful I think removing 6 man squads would help, limit it to 4 or something. Or at least make it where if you have a team of 5 or more, they have a permanent red dot on map. I got excited and wrote my comment before watching video. Great take Ace, completely agree with your thoughts and like the idea of having both modes but the better rewards are on PVPVE
I loved Escape From Tarkov and was excited for DMZ when it came to MW2 but for some reason I just couldn't get into it, I'm not sure exactly what it was missing mostly because I just can't remember it very much While on the flip side I enjoyed MW Zombies for a couple months I eventually fell off because there weren't enough updates to bring me back So for me I'd be okay with a PvE mode, or an improved PvPvE it just needs more things to keep my attention probably some kind of progression or reward like how MWZ gave you that really cool Bone Collector skin for completing all 3 Acts
technically it would be dmz 1.0 since we are still in beta. But jokes aside there are examples where the pve/pvpve worked: - dark zone in division, i did some sketchy coop/pvp extracts there a lot. i just did not like the rpg/bulletspongeshooting aspect of division - even gta online allowed solo/invites lobbys eventually that allowed selling missions (the one that were prone to be griefed by a usually toxic lobby) and it did not hurt the game. you could still decide to sell in a full lobby with an added selling bonus for risk/reward. map size will be an issue for me if groundwar mapsizes will be a thing, which i think are too small. the quintessential dmz map IS Al Mazrah which i would take as a reference. i would argue for this reason Al Mazrah was never a good fit for WZ, especially with the slower paced movement from MWII which works great for dmz. Something between Al Mazrah and Vondel size might be a good fit, but smaller maps like Ashika. I also liked the "Indoor" maps like B21 and Koschei Komplex. one thing dmz did better than other extraction shooters were the exfills. instead of waiting for a boring HUD countdown you got a whole diegetic motivated ingame cinematic experience with an actual exfil helicopter that needs to be called in alarming nearby players and lands to pick you up. final exfils (apart from Al Mazrah where you had alternative exfills like Koschei) were also nailbiters.
DMZ was hated because it destroyed the flow of Warzone. If Activision had made DMZ as its own game mode with the slower pace and left Warzone alone, I think it would have been popular.
I absolutely loved DMZ and would honestly be happy with either PVE or PVPVE. I've had a ton of awesome moments in DMZ, from soloing a team in seconds at the hospital, me and friend taking on multiple teams to hold a building and even getting the entire server together into a giant raiding party.
I still play DMZ to this day, but only between 9 to 3am uk time. Otherwise the mode is currently filled with cheaters and chinese death squads. I still been playing since day one, over 4k exfils, 12000 kills and 1200 deaths. Pretty sure most people that play dmz in European servers sh** themselves when they see me in their game 😂😂 There is no cod experience like DMZ though. The prox chat is to much fun and I still have whole groups of people I jump in with and its a blast. It can be so tactical and so much thought process compared to normal multiplayer. Challenges when killing campers and knowing each individual interior is key. Vondel is the way to go if you want to enjoy it most at the moment.
One suggestion I would have would be to make PvP a sort of opt-in system where your team can choose to be a PvP squad. My idea is, this would allow you to kill other players, but it would come with the drawback of your general location being marked on everyone's tac-map. So everyone who doesn't want to engage in PvP would have a rough location that they know to avoid because PvPr's are there. Meanwhile, other PvPr's now have a general region where they know they'll find people to hunt down. I feel like this would be a nice compromise for PvPr's to still have the ability to hunt down people that are just trying to complete missions and such, while also giving those players the opportunity to avoid fights they don't want to engage in.
read dead online did something like this. the presence of posses with bad karma were announced to other players early, creating a nice asymetric awareness where the evil dudes had a smaller range of awareness on the map than the regular players allowing the regular players to avoid confrontation.
IW CoD I won’t be buying I don’t care what they promise. Their entire philosophy with how they approach CoD is innovation for the sake of innovation. The total opposite of how it should be handled. It will be awful in some bizarre and unique way that will ruin the whole experience, like weird maps or perks loading throughout a match etc. Not buying
Dude I still play DMZ it's awesome with Warzone and AI integrated together. With all the patches and updates they have done it has come a long way. It's great I'm almost 100% completion with everything. The only thing I have to say that makes or breaks a lobby is the Wall hacks and Aimbots. Those players who had crossed over to DMZ from Warzone and made it a sweat fest. I still play to get away from the regular multiplayer of B06 & MW. I had the best experiences holding off a six man squad solo and coming out on top 😂. But when a player finds you in a apartment building in downtown Al Mazy. It's like bro I have a stealth vest and the Ghost perk there's no way you knew exactly what room I was holding out in. Especially when the killcam shows the guy running into the building running straight towards my floor and room when there's no windows. It's not luck you cheated because you can't play. When's it's legitimate players it's hilarious the chatter and gameplay especially with multiple teams fighting at once and using the AI Bots to distract them. I just wished they added the dog tag trophy system that they said they were gonna put in place. So I can actually use the tags later especially for faction missions. It took a bit to hunt a person with a Damascus dog tag😂. It would be cool if they added a AC-130 in there for solo players. Because being hunted constantly multiple times in one match got very annoying especially when you don't have any gear. It's like how i'm broke😂
I loved playing DMZ. I played from day one. I liked that you can run into other friendly players and it was understood that as long as you don’t shoot I won’t shoot back. Or you can team up. What I don’t like is what it has turned into now with nothing but people hunting others down. I like to do the quests and not worry about running into other players who are going to shit on me even though I’m just trying to do the quests. I’m not afraid of engaging other players I’ll do it if I have to but it’s more of a last resort. I just like to be left alone and do what I came into do but I’ll shoot if I have to. I like the idea of having two modes with the PVPVE giving you higher tier loot. This way if I feel like taking a risk I can go in and go for it. The one thing I absolutely hate about DMZ is the weapon cooldowns. I want to be able to bring in my load out and use it. Other than that I seriously have no complaints. I think something like what you suggested would appeal to a large number of players.
I played DMZ a ton and one thing I liked about it a lot was the stakes. Going to final extract against 2-3 other teams and the ability to escape a fight, stabilize, go back get your team and then enact revenge was awesome. However it was plagued with issues for the longest time. Missions not tracking and the 6 man GIGA teams just running around wiping you was annoying. But the depth was cool with all them maps, some of which could only be entered from the main map. As others mentioned I think the divisions dark zone is a good example of this. Have PVP but maybe mark people who are overly aggressive with bounties. After playing marvel rivals I will say its awesome to be able to do little dailies against bots.
Instead of DMZ, they should bring back Ground War (with and without objectives)… and key is to disable all K/D stats in this mode; just have a chill alternative mode, do what you want without worrying about K/D.
DMZ is what got me started with COD. If it's not pvpve, it's going to lose its identity and fail. The closest feeling I've gotten from cod since DMZ has been sabotaging escort quests in mwiii
And as for PvE vs PvPvE debate, i agreed myself that sometimes it felt like just a place for Warzone rejects. However, PvPvE is basically what made DMZ, DMZ. Otherwise a PvE DMZ would basically just be zombies but with AI Soldiers instead of zombies…
I really enjoyed DMZ. In the beginning I focused on missions as a solo but once the game evolved to be more PvP, I would go in as random three man. I think having squads be limited to four players is good but I would like a lower threshold for people who go in for PvP to show up on the map sooner and it should be the whole squad, not just one player. This way I can choose to avoid or engage.
Infinity Ward is generally really good at doing these side modes like DMZ, Spec Ops, Raids, Ground War etc so im excited for it. Lets pray that the 6v6 multiplayer will be decent 😂
At the end of the day, I hope they stick to the concept of DMZ and it's purpose. DMZ should be a much more accessible and casual extraction shooter that people on console can enjoy. The problem with a game like Delta Force is that their console port is still "in development", so they can't capitalize on the lack of options for modern FPS games on the console market. If they execute this right, DMZ 2 could be huge like WZ.
3:36 not to mention you could use whatever weapons and attachments you want and have fun, instead of using the same gun and attachments that 98% of the playerbase uses
The floor loot RPK that I've modded into a killing machine, my beloved. RPG-7 too but you can't mod that at a weapon bench. Still an absolute demon in hallway fights, lol.
The only way for it to actually work is for it to be a full pve mode like MWZ was. People will just act like it's warzone and hunt players instead of making objectives if it's pvpve and we have warzone for that.
PVE only would SINK DMZ 2.0. There wouldn't be anything to do once all your missions are done. DMZ still lives partially thanks to its unique combat loop. I also dont think compulsory 'wipes' should be introduced seasonally. The latter half of DMZ's life cycle didn't have wipes and it offered longer term progression, because NOBODY wants to re-do old missions or re-gain upgrades by say, putting 10 rare graphics card loot items in a dumpster over and over again.
@@randomguy2402 That'd kill the gameplay loop of PVP. Stealth is important, being able to get into an area and exfil is important. Having a 'you can't touch me' barrier is ripe for abuse, too, with people fighting on the border of it and dipping into it when a fight starts to go sour. DMZ's combat loop is perfectly fine as it is. The game just needs more stuff like an out of match economy and bug fixes.
@ that’s a good point, they could also try to prevent these situations by making it so idk, you can’t leave the area if you’re in an active engagement, but I agree it’d be pretty messy. Other way I can see them bringing PVE is either make it a different qeue, with different lobbies, or make it so some small maps (like how there was building 21) are pve only, but idk if the players would like that
@ Only way I could see it reasonably working is the way Tarkov did it with a separate PVE mode that isn't tied to your PVP account progression with bots for players. But even then, that has some bad results for the playerbase on PVP.
Really enjoyed dmz for a bit. Was a bit ruined when the warzone players came in just to pvp/grief. I like pvp in the mode, but it wasnt designed to limit people's ability to simply dominate POIs purely to pvp stomp.
I think it was moreso content creators not having much to do once they did their tier 5 missions or if they didn't care about missions whatsoever. The rewards for missions definitely need to be better this time around.
DMZ is amazing. I'm ok with both modes, but I'll be playing PVE/PVP. If there are more bosses, more juggs, 3 plates, progression, cool missions etc, PVE will thrive if there is limit to the content then PVP will thrive. The thing that was so much fun about DMZ and still is, is the sniper game play.
Thats great and all, but first they need to prove that they can support a single game at this point. More games, split up, just causes more places for them to mess up. I feel they really need to prove the core game works before pulling in the extra modes.
Or or, and i recall people mentioning this washow it work in i believe its called division darkzone(?), make a zone and sme maps that where you step into, pvpve is effectively on the table. High leveled missions, loot, and rewards should be tied to this area. If you wanna chill, cool stay away. If you got thick skin and ready for the risk, then load up operator.
I didn't like PvPvE in DMZ. I prefer PvE. I hated having to unlock the M13B and having asshole camper players waiting til Inkill the boss and then kill me to steal it. I liked MWZ. It was one of the rare times where people worked and helped each other. People would help revive you if you ask nicely and would join strangers if asked to fight the red worm. It was awesome.
DMZ is a fun game mode but it got ruined by all the other players that hunts other players. If it's for a challenge, I understand. But if it's for somebody that does that... They should play warzone. It honestly ruins the experience. If they do plan on bringing back DMZ, Please no PvPvE. Only PvE
After playing a bunch of delta force operations I think they could do both. Delta force has easy/normal/hard modes. Putting other players in normal/hard would make sense and an easy type would just be pve
Im sorry, but if they dont make it PvPVE, then the mode itself losses its identity. Its a extremely lite version of EFT which most CoD players dont even understand.
I genuinely enjoyed DMZ when it was out. And after trying to enjoy BO6 and failing to do so, one thing that keeps crossing my mind is: what happened to the franchise being a "tactical shooter?" I miss seeing legit, possible operators and loadouts. COD Ghost is a great example that come to mind. Sure it flopped when it came out. But looking back, it was rewarding being able to grind to unlock that one item or article of clothing without having my wallet cry. Even Ghost Recon was fun because i was able to make my character unique and not something that everyone can buy for $30. In other words, I want to ask this and hopefully others will reply what they think: SHOULD COD BRING THAT STYLE OF CUSTOMIZATION BACK? AND IF THEY DO, WOULD HAVING SOME ASPECT OF THAT ONLY BE UNLOCKABLE BY PLAYING DMZ BE AN INTERESTING IDEA? Sorry for the long winded comment, im just tired of seing complete nonsense skins nowadays. 😅
OH FUCK YEAH DMZ I hope there’s PVPVE since a major enjoyment point of DMZ was the struggle of fighting against all odds from the sweat bounty contract hunters to the OP Season 1-2 Spec Ops AI. However that being said there should be incentives for not killing every player you come across besides forming 6 man goon platoons.
I like the idea of just pvp. But it should not be a way to regain fully. It should not have any special armor, weapons, loot or whatever. So if you want to regain you have to to jump into pvpve. Keep it chill but Don't let it be a crutch for players who fail to extract.
I've tried MW2022's DMZ pretty lately, and it actually felt pretty sweaty cuz of pro DMZ players with super setups, who'll absolutely destroy you even if you do even a little mistake(btw, I'm not denying the possibility that it was just my bad luck back then). Because of such problem, wipes in other extraction shooters exist, so that both newbies and proplayers would be more or less on the same level and they both would have a chance to equally progress. So, as for me, wipes every season are necessary for the next DMZ.
The original dmz was never that appealing to me. It lacked a lot of content and other things that other games had in the genre. If they actually get this out of beta I might try it out
@@User57655 Yeah. Ironically, as sweaty as it was, it felt more chill because it wasn't manipulated. So at least if you run into another squad, if you're good, you know you're good. The game isn't pitting you against Chris Kyle out of wanting you to lose, lol.
I liked DMZ when it first launched, but without continued support, it became stale. There was many people who found some exploits, which made them basically invincible. Also, the lack of separate lobbies for single, duos, trios and quads made it an awful experience. Last, I agree with Ace. I could extract 50k worth of cash, but none of it would help me on my next extraction. At least getting some cash as a reward could’ve helped.
What you said about a better economy and item/loot system I think hits the nail on the head PERFECTLY. I also saw someone suggest a dark zone idea similar to the division, which I also think could work really well (high tier loot in that area, high risk but high reward).
DMZ was fun in the beginning when most people were completing the missions but you had to be aware of other players/threats. In the late stages of the game it was full of warzone rejects looking for easy kills as a break from warzone. I don't know how to keep it from degrading but I thought it was fun initially
You could always tell who was a warzone player as they didn't even do the first challenges and only went for kills
Yeah exactly. The only solution is to make it PvE only. As it should be.
This pretty much sums up how DMZ's popularity and enjoyment derailed into a chernobyl explosion.
All I want is solo lobbies. I spent most of my time in DMZ playing it like an open-world MGS game: get in with minimal equipment, procure guns on site, finish as many objectives as possible and exfil. Being up against full teams all the time got tiring pretty fast.
You play it like metal gear solid 5? That's actually pretty cool.
yea,, that would be a great mode.. or have solos, duos, trios and quads.. so you can choose.
i played 95% Solo.. only did a squad when i had to, or, joined one after being revived cuz i was sniped again at an exfil or buy station.. by one of the many 4-6man squads just roaming the map to wreck players games..
Solo DMZ Really was a survival game. There was a brief update where the bots seemed to have 100% accuracy at any distance. Solo runs we're damn near impossible but satisfying to make it out
@dan26dlp I remember that. You never saw any other players, just their lost backpacks. Getting out alive was hard.
Fresh? Fresh full of cheaters.
@ I mean yeah if you play on PC lol but that’s just generally a COD problem. I’ve never had that problem myself when playing DMZ but I also played at launch and before the launch of MWIII before they cut updates
Same brother, same. I've lost all interest in CoD at this point.
@@lord-marroking1315 That may be, but remember: Not everyone who kills you in ways YOU cant understand are cheaters.
@@TeraVex_ nah I’m on PS5
The biggest draw of DMZ for me was the crazy sandbox nature of the mode. The bots everywhere combined with the other players (who ranged from friendly old grandpas to sweaty warzone killers) doing their own things made almost every game a unique experience.
This is what made me love it. Everything was different every time. You could have the slowest game where you never see a single person to games where every squad converges.
Right? There were some exfils that felt like movies. Friends downing, clutch revives, blue armored enemies, crunch time. Taking off…
I hated the bots more than the players honestly
i am always suprised at the average age of my randoms. dmz players age range from 12 to 60, not sure you can say that about wz or mp.
This, those that want PVE only DMZ don't realize that's exactly what the MW3 zombies snooze fest is
They could do it like The Divisons "Dark Zone" where that is the only area where PVP is allowed in an otherwise PvE game.
i was thinking the same thing.
Moreover, PvP only happens when a team would go rogue. Meaning constant stress would be replaced by what's essentially a (possibly) really hard objective on the map.
Wich would be a good thing for DMZ imo. But as a solo player on the european server I am fairly biased.
That's what I was going to say. PvPvE for the win!
fantastic idea
THIS^^
The problem with being PvPvE is that DMZ quickly devolved into a mini Warzone with experienced squads mapping out the spawn locations of each squad and hunting them down relentlessly, which made for a not so enjoyable experience for an average or casual player who was in for the missions and objectives.
Also the missions moved that way at higher levels, too
Yep- pre-made 6-man teams in discord comms griefing everyone
@L3XisLIVE I dropped DMZ entirely when two squads camped at my Hostage Rescue chopper.
@@Gamebit257 I loved doing that 🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂
Exactly this.
My favorite part of DMZ was the missions that you could complete that would reward a very unique blueprint, like the Heated Madness Kastov 762
Snowplow Kortac mil-sim, my beloved.
Sadly, 99 % of rewards were trash
out of zombies, multiplayer, DMZ and warzone..
DMZ was the most enjoyable, replayable, and unique (for cod) gamemode out there
DMZ was the most fun I've had in COD in 15 years. Hopefully it comes back better than before!
• make it *both* pve & pvpve
• *Separate* leaderboards & stashes for PvE & PvPvE
• *Nothing* locked behind pve or pvpve
Basically Tarkov PvE's approach. Separate game but with bots but with the same intended gameplay loop as if it were real players.
@peepsbates well, it'd still be on the same app and would still be the same game... just 2 different modes that are almost the same
DMZ was the best part mw2, really hope it comes back 🙏🏻
Thats a fact. It was so awesome.
DMZ was apart of warzone
Having everything only crafted in-game was a bit weird. Should definitely be able to out of game, but make it require more loot items than in-game.
Infinity Ward's next COD already scared me.
Can't wait for no mini-map at launch and even more safe spaces
IW does a few genuinely innonative things like gunsmith, gunfight mode, DMZ, Raids, and game engine. But for some reason. They fuck up on basic cod fundamentals like minimap or perks and can't take criticism or feedback in any way. Your concern for IW next cod is valid here.
@@dalberttran8134 the cod cycle:
iw fucks the entire game up to unrepairable levels
sh is tasked to repair the game in 3 months of work
trey just doing their thing
lol only thing they good at is coming up new ideas for that have not be done before in franchise but everything else they suck
And it had its problems as a game mode, like old COD did, but honestly they got it right.
I agree, sometimes I want PVE and sometimes I want PVPVE. Just depends on my mood at the time
I never want pvpve tbh, anytime im just trying to do something on the outskirts of the map, just enjoying my time, some loser has to drive by and try and kill me.
If DMZ isn't PvPvE then it's not worth playing.
@ Agreed there as well. Nice addition, but not enough replay-ability as with the open-world experience.
We need
1) Actual stash/hideout
2 )meaningful missions
3) Buy stations OUTSIDE MATCH. You got what you load in and find/loot/kill for.
4)some type of auction house.
5)Solo option
6)Do more with the genius weapon case idea. Limitless options there.
Done.
Yeah i played a lot of DMZ and MWZ and while I did enjoy PvP sometimes, I definitely want a PvE mode as well to just chill in with no PvP
Loved DMZ until the pay to win uav vests. Then it basically turned into wz.
Loved DMZ 1. Really hope it gets the live it deserves from the Devs
used to love playing PvP, but gradually I've been pulling away from it specially in more recent years, mostly due to cheating but also for the ways companies keep on trying to maximize monetary gains (particularly trying to maximize "popularity" at the expense of customers, even if the majority of those remain oblivious to this)... popular stuff is not intrinsically bad, but in comparison w/ greater numbers everything becomes more watered down, loses character, and tends to be more unwieldy... on top of a game mode that already is more prone to toxicity/abuse... unfortunately, but as personal policy goes, if is not enjoyable any longer, just move on... but that's just me...
I didn't mind some pvp in dmz, I just hated how so many treated it like wz with bots where they just played to kill players
Stoked for DMZ coming back. Totally agree that both PVPVE and PVE should be options!
Hated the mode tbh. The AI aimbot was ridiculous not even taking into account the actual players.
Would be awful
I think removing 6 man squads would help, limit it to 4 or something. Or at least make it where if you have a team of 5 or more, they have a permanent red dot on map. I got excited and wrote my comment before watching video. Great take Ace, completely agree with your thoughts and like the idea of having both modes but the better rewards are on PVPVE
I loved Escape From Tarkov and was excited for DMZ when it came to MW2 but for some reason I just couldn't get into it, I'm not sure exactly what it was missing mostly because I just can't remember it very much
While on the flip side I enjoyed MW Zombies for a couple months I eventually fell off because there weren't enough updates to bring me back
So for me I'd be okay with a PvE mode, or an improved PvPvE it just needs more things to keep my attention probably some kind of progression or reward like how MWZ gave you that really cool Bone Collector skin for completing all 3 Acts
technically it would be dmz 1.0 since we are still in beta. But jokes aside there are examples where the pve/pvpve worked:
- dark zone in division, i did some sketchy coop/pvp extracts there a lot. i just did not like the rpg/bulletspongeshooting aspect of division
- even gta online allowed solo/invites lobbys eventually that allowed selling missions (the one that were prone to be griefed by a usually toxic lobby) and it did not hurt the game. you could still decide to sell in a full lobby with an added selling bonus for risk/reward.
map size will be an issue for me if groundwar mapsizes will be a thing, which i think are too small. the quintessential dmz map IS Al Mazrah which i would take as a reference. i would argue for this reason Al Mazrah was never a good fit for WZ, especially with the slower paced movement from MWII which works great for dmz.
I loved DMZ until it became too toxic (which says a lot about the COD community).
I really liked DMZ during the MWII lifecycle. Would be nice to have a pve variant. Interested in seeing what they decide to do with this.
I still play DMZ to this day, but only between 9 to 3am uk time. Otherwise the mode is currently filled with cheaters and chinese death squads. I still been playing since day one, over 4k exfils, 12000 kills and 1200 deaths. Pretty sure most people that play dmz in European servers sh** themselves when they see me in their game 😂😂
There is no cod experience like DMZ though.
As long as it comes with a singles only mode I'll play it
There should be a pve mode. If not, then I won't even think about getting it.
Yeah definitely need a wallet. Remember how they kept saying they would add a wallet in MWZ but they never did so people just kept tombstoning
DMZ is the only good thing COD has produced in the last few years
Infinity Ward is generally really good at doing these side modes like DMZ, Spec Ops, Raids, Ground War etc so im excited for it. Lets pray that the 6v6 multiplayer will be decent 😂
Good point, they are
aint no way you just listed Spec Ops they dropped that so quick and so did every person in the community
@@StrawberryPidgey spec ops in mw2 was pretty good but i think people just didnt care for it after how hard it was in mw2019
I really hope they bring it back. My buddy’s and I played it about every night man. We had more fun with it than multiplayer.
I had the most fun playing DMZ. I meet so many good people playing that mode.
I think they could do both, add pvp zones to the big map, and make the smaller maps full on pvp
But even then, that has some bad results for the playerbase on PVP.
dude you are suppose to complete the missions
not leave them unfinished
this what happens when you combine pve with pvp
Really enjoyed dmz for a bit. Was a bit ruined when the warzone players came in just to pvp/grief. I like pvp in the mode, but it wasnt designed to limit people's ability to simply dominate POIs purely to pvp stomp.
That's what made the game fun. The pop was great because you were put in scenarios that warzone and multi-player couldn't give you.
I think they should do both… PvE and PvPvE
Only PvE
They were jealous of the mode, that the rush of “winning” and leaving the map alive was now more readily available
With the amount of times you said "PvPvE and PvE", how many times you had to record the voice line for this video??
If you want more replay value, you need some sort of PvP
PvE, but with proper enemy ai, like ghost recon
OH FUCK YEAH DMZ
I hope there’s PVPVE since a major enjoyment point of DMZ was the struggle of fighting against all odds from the sweat bounty contract hunters to the OP Season 1-2 Spec Ops AI. However that being said there should be incentives for not killing every player you come across besides forming 6 man goon platoons.
Bring it Back Like it was but Support it this time and i buy your Game No questions asked
If they actually get this out of beta I might try it out
This is exactly how I was feeling
It was all brand new to me, I never knew such games existed. I loved the concept and had a blast
What you’re describing is exactly The Division with the Darkzone.
The thing is, I'd be good with PvPvE if they didn't have sbmm, but they do, so alas I'd prefer PvE
There was no SBMM in DMZ as far as anyone knows
@@User57655 Yeah. Ironically, as sweaty as it was, it felt more chill because it wasn't manipulated. So at least if you run into another squad, if you're good, you know you're good. The game isn't pitting you against Chris Kyle out of wanting you to lose, lol.
@@peepsbates exactly, and unlike Warzone or MP, if you saw a team and didn’t want to fight them you could disengage and escape
It eventually did when they added the wallet but yeah, an out of game economy would've been nice all of DMZ's lifecycle.
What you said about a better economy and item/loot system I think hits the nail on the head PERFECTLY. I also saw someone suggest a dark zone idea similar to the division, which I also think could work really well (high tier loot in that area, high risk but high reward).
Definitely DMZ! Both versions would be the smart play.
And while they are at it let's have Invasion back.
If they make DMZ PvE then the mode is doomed from the start.
