Hey Andy, I am a Moderate LD Special Education Teacher in the Watertown Massachusetts Public School System. I want to let you know that 7 students in my school love watching your kit builds. 3 times a week I host a 'lunch bunch' for these students who have a hard time socializing with their classmates in the school cafeteria. Instead we build models, while we watch your videos for guidance and inspiration. You are the Bob Ross of scale modeling. So I wanted to say thank you for helping these students learn the importance of teamwork, following directions, applying arithmetic, making historical connections and most importantly the confidence that comes from a job well done. Thank you.
aaaaaaaaaaaa808 I mean yeah, but since it had to comply with naval treaties, it had thin armor and just wasn’t suitable to fight Japan. Therefore, it was confined to the Atlantic
@cmtmj2006 yes the ships hanger decks were weak but not the hull. Plus it was sent to the Atlantic because of its speed and fuel efficiency not its protection but I can understand where you are coming from
Andy, my name is Steven and I shop at your website and watch your builds amazing work and thank you for the tips and the store you got me through some tough times . And my modeling work has improved so much!!!!!!.
When I built Trumpeters 1/350th U.S.S.Hornet I removed the molded in hanger deck doors, added a Eduard hanger deck detail set, rigged up 3 Red(dimmed)led lights. More F6F,SBD A/C and pre painted crew figures..Tom's modelworks p/e set allowed a good deal of details on the inside walls..Have to look close but,the effect was worth the effort.
I have dabbled with a few models, but could have never imagined painting dazzle camouflage! That is amazing! One slight note, the F4F fighter plane was called the Wildcat. The F6F was a newer design, called the Hellcat. The planes included either the model are F6F Hellcats. The planes look similar, but the Wildcat had a unique under carriage that is unmistakable once you have seen it.
Andy you're an inspiration. I might by a kit like that and then it will sit in the loft as it is too intimidating, I suddenly decide that I don't have the skill to make it well enough. You just get on and do it. Well done sir. Another awesome build.
Hi Andy, just getting back into modelling, been all over TH-cam looking at other builders but i always end up back at the Headquarters. Great builder, great vids. Love the dioramas.
I like the 1/700 Tamiya CV-6. Old tooling but you can’t go wrong with a Tamiya. It’s supposed to be tooled for her 1944 refit but my friends said the island is off and the guns are also off. I still built it with her Measure 33 livery. Great build experience. Cheers!
Nice boat. As an airplane guy, the only issue I saw was with the Avenger folded wing placement. The centers of the pivot points should mate up, not the leading edges. 👍
There have been a total of eight ships in the U. S. Navy named RANGER. The first RANGER was commanded by John Paul Jones during the War of 1812. CV-4 is the seventh RANGER. RANGER CV-61 is the eighth ship named RANGER and is the first carrier designed from the keel up with an angle flight deck. The French battleship Jean Bart was damaged from an air attack launched from CV-4 but Jean Bart was actually sunk from large armor piercing shells fired from thebattleship USS MASSACHUSETTS to keep her from being captured from the Germans.
I have a couple of trumpeter models to build and they do look great. Unfortunately the USS Missouri 1:200 was missing a sprue for the entire bow. It was months that they said I would get a replacement after they said it was the retailers responsibility to provide, then finally after 6 months they said no one had any responsibility. I won't be buying anymore of their products. Too bad. The remaining part of the models were beautiful.
Both Rangers have ended up being scrapped... ex-CV-61 is currently being scrapped in Brownsville where her sister ships were also dismantled or are in the process of being dismantled. The USS Langley CV-1 has an interesting sidenote. Her sister ships, ALL colliers of the Proteus class met with tragic fates. One was sunk in foreign service during World War II. The other two, Proteus and Cyclops, are linked to the Bermuda Triangle mystery but it's thought that Cyclops actually sank far closer to the east coast of the US. There was a Navy diver who chanced upon a wreck in the late 1960s that had the same configuration as the Proteus-class ships and it was most likely the Cyclops in that case from what they know about the last sighting and position of that ship...
Air ops for CVs was fighters off first and stored forward on the flight deck one for self defense if they get jumped by the enemy and two fighters didn't need as much length to take off. Followed by the SBDs and TBD Avengers. Hope that helps with aircraft placement on the flight deck.
Why oh why hasn't anyone done a 1/350 Big "E", CV-6??? Most decorated US carrier of WW2 and sadly neglected by model companies. Thanks Andy. Enjoyed the build.
I think those stacks the way you built them is pretty cool. The other thing is how you can show the aircraft with wings folded, I never saw that before. The ship looks good, not bad for a rookie, ha ha.
So decided to come back to this just because, so I noticed that at 3:47 you said f6f-3 “Wildcat”, it’s is actually called the “Hellcat. The Wildcat is the F4fs and fm2
I really enjoyed your video. If you could include a few more detailed how-to steps, it would be super helpful for inexperienced model builders. Painting and masking are hard for me.

That is great thank you I’m originally from Chicopee mass
Can't understand why people give thumbs down, I think your video's are great they must be a lot of hard work, well done !
Gretsch Drummer they are all veterans from the Imperial Japanese navy.
invincible: that was funny!
Recon Ranger thanks!
Dack Hacksaw this may be a dumb question but who is 'thats German with Aspergers'?
Gretsch Drummer , you'll find negative people everywhere. They are usually folks that lack talent and are jealous.
It` s nice to see "straight-from-the-box" builds like this.
Can you imagine the guy who actually designed that ship and watched it sail for the first time? He must be very proud.
aaaaaaaaaaaa808 - there were huge teams of men who made plans. Pre-computer everything was hand drawn.
aaaaaaaaaaaa808 I mean yeah, but since it had to comply with naval treaties, it had thin armor and just wasn’t suitable to fight Japan. Therefore, it was confined to the Atlantic

Hi everyone I misspoke in the review portion, the airplanes are Hellcats not wildcats
Andy's Hobby Headquarters no probs Andy, we forgive you 😉
the planes are so small you wouldn't be able to tell the difference .....
Whait as in the American tank destroy hellcat? Because I've never heard of a airplane called that
F6F Hellcat
What airbrush do you use?
Andy, my name is Steven and I shop at your website and watch your builds amazing work and thank you for the tips and the store you got me through some tough times . And my modeling work has improved so much!!!!!!.
Awesome, thank you!

Andy, you're my favorite model builder! God bless you man!
Very intricate model. Great viewing. Fantastic job by Trumpeter engineers, producing such a model.
Why in the world would anyone give a thumbs down? I mean, people that come are modelers. We are like a brotherhood. I just don’t understand it.
Total art and a skill to build these models. Well done.
Uncle Andy made that looks EASY... For me, it's MADNESS.

Thanks for the tips, thinking, and procedures (ways of doing things) in modeling
I have learned so much from watching your Show, Thank you Andy 👍

Hi Andy, just getting back into modelling, been all over TH-cam looking at other builders but i always end up back at the Headquarters. Great builder, great vids. Love the dioramas.
I applaud your your patients I definitely don't have patients to do what u do
Thanks Andy I am building the Enterprise ww2 Carrier in 1/700 Tamiya so your build was handy. Cheers.

Very nice , lots of work gone into this beautiful model
I always think this but this is your best build(so far)!!!!
The other are also REALLY REALLY good!!!
Love this camo ! completely lifts the kit .
Andy great build. The new paints look good. The single piece hull is good idea, saves a lot on the clean up. Looking forward to the next video.
Lovely model boat, well done. I think I’ll be trying this.
You did a fantastic job on this ship Andy !
Beautiful Andy !!. , I wish all these carrier models came with a lot more planes.
My grandfather was a flight deck officer on this ship. He lived to be 94 years old.
Oh wow. He might have known my grandfather. He was on Ranger as part of her Marine detachment.
@@joshuariddensdale2126 It's certainly very possible if your grandfather served between 1941 and 1945.
Very nice build and really good to see how everything fits together on this kit. Outstanding review!!
Gorgeous model of a rather unusual and oddball carrier.
very nice thanks andy
Beautiful paint job. Really nice model.
Super maquette ..félicitations ...A+
Шикарная модель! Любимое мое направление, спасибо за качественный контент!
Very Nice Job!!!! Enjoy the ship episodes very much.
Outstanding! Definitely want to check out that line of paint!
Fantastic looking ship....phenomenonal work Andy!
Definitely need to get the USS Yorktown CV-5 and USS Yorktown CV-10 in 1/350 now! 🥇👍👌👏
Nice boat. As an airplane guy, the only issue I saw was with the Avenger folded wing placement. The centers of the pivot points should mate up, not the leading edges. 👍
Fantastic build. Those mini-scale Hellcats look awesome
thank you for making this video. I enjoyed it.
the battleship is very nice
Just beautiful as usual. Nailed it!! Love that you've showed us a carrier build! Keep up the diversity!
I love the video. Plus I bought the model from squadron. I used to live 4 blks from their Carrollton TX. warehouse. Thanks to you both.

Great channel Andy. Your passion for building really shows in your videos. It inspires me to get building

Looks great, good work

Jeremy Pratt, it's called CAP for Combat Air Patrol.
Very nice.👍
That's awesome Andy
im wanting to build trumpeter ships for a begginers what do u suggest i love watching ur build you explain more clearer
Squadron is one of my go to online shops. The "plandemic" has really screwed up their refilling, But what I've wanted theyve had this far.
Why oh why hasn't anyone done a 1/350 Big "E", CV-6??? Most decorated US carrier of WW2 and sadly neglected by model companies.
Thanks Andy. Enjoyed the build.
1/350 USS Enterprise CV-6 was released in 2015 by Merit.
I think those stacks the way you built them is pretty cool. The other thing is how you can show the aircraft with wings folded, I never saw that before. The ship looks good, not bad for a rookie, ha ha.
Andy you are so lucky! I would love to build these models but disability keeps me broke. That Ranger is a beauty! Keep up the great videos!
So decided to come back to this just because, so I noticed that at 3:47 you said f6f-3 “Wildcat”, it’s is actually called the “Hellcat. The Wildcat is the F4fs and fm2
nice job!
Great video...im doing a carrier now...this helps a lot. Thanks
looks so good
Excellent as usual. Great.
Another great vid Andy.
Mega Good Work
Good job Andy, very interesting model choice
Would like to have seen how you did some of the detail parts and how you did the painting.
I really enjoyed your video. If you could include a few more detailed how-to steps, it would be super helpful for inexperienced model builders. Painting and masking are hard for me.
for the tricolor paints, do you need to add thinner for airbrushing
Looks great!
Another great build Andy! Enjoy watching your videos. I'm learning a lot. Keep up the great work.
Looks like a terrific kit & a great job building & painting it. Great video as usual, well done 👍🏻 🇦🇺
Great job pal !!
