But the batsman responded by just proving Nel wrong, which is why it's such a good reply.

The best sledge I ever heard was Adam Gilchrist said to one of the Indians on there tour of Australia many years ago. It was on abc radio I was listening. It was a tailender batting against Warne, he has just came to the wicket, and you could hear Gilchrist say to him. Come on have a go, he's only a spinner. A couple of balls later he said , you know how to read these guys, next comment was you play these guys all day next ball he comes down the wicket and is duly stumped by Gilchrist and all you hear is laughter from Gilchrist. Now that is a true sledge, no anger , no swearing or point ear fingers . That's the way it should be using your brain
