- Semi-fast steam on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. BR Steam Locomotive Black 5 45212 on a (nearly) full line run.
The video starts with our train arriving at Oxenhope, before the segment filmed from right behind the locomotive as it climbs back up the scenic Bronte-country valley.
Due to the closure of Keighley Station for improvement works, the service today was top and tailed with a class 37 diesel locomotive on the rear. Additionally, the service ran from Ingrow West, to the ‘Great Northern straight’ just South of Keighley, where our run behind the Black 5 starts. The train then reverses, to put our locomotive leading, and runs non-stop through Ingrow West which is quite rare, we then skipped the request-only stop at Damem’s due to no passengers requesting a stop there on our journey. We then continue up the Worth Valley, calling at Oakworth and Haworth and passing the engine sheds before reaching Oxenhope. Due to skipping two stations and no other trains operating to pass at Damem’s loop, the end to end run was unusually quick.
The winter conditions made the steam look very impressive and it was an enjoyable run, but unfortunately there is quite a bit of wind noise (bring on summer). Apologies for that, I am going to see if I can pick up some better sound-recording equipment to improve this going forwards. I filmed from the left hand side of the line on this video, as I normally do the right, just for a bit of variety. This means that the better scenery is further into the video.
I had a great day out on the railway on this visit, making use of the bar car and enjoying both locomotives, although the Black 5 made the best noise on the day in my opinion. Enjoy!

This is the reason I don't travel on main line steam specials anymore .... How in hell's name can you enjoy the splendours and aural sensations of a steam loco whilst sat inside a closed carriage. there are those of us who needs to get our heads "safely" at droplight windows .. Thanks for posting a great piece of film
