    Love this! Just commented on your post on the Pinball Discord as well. Did the same upgrade

    Looks really good! 1 modern pinball table is like 6-8 grand, maybe more!! I get to play them on a 4 hundred computer, no maintenance.

    This is the way to go. So many people were comparing the ALP to Arcade 1up screens. They both are only 60hz though...Vpin really needs 120hz and up for the ball to look natural.

    • @retroritchie
      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah, the one thing that always niggles me with the 60hz was the motion of the ball when it was moving at speed, just didn't look right and i kind of get a bit obsessive once I've seen something like that - much to the detriment of my wallet ;)

    Looks great, this has me really hopeful for the 4KP version coming this December. I plan to buy one, upgrade to backbox 2.0 for real DMD and then run VPX. Hoping that the upgraded SOC/CPU can natively output and upscale all existing pins @ 4K and higher FPS (if possible).

    I swapped out my At Games screen for a Samsung Tizen 4k screen. Fits in perfectly. The display is night and day. Getting 60 fps on almost all tables while playing in 4k resolution.

    The faster response and higher contrast helped. But HDR and 120hz does nothing because the ALP can't push those values.

    • @retroritchie
      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeh the HDR and higher refresh will only be of value with OTG/PC - as per vid im in OTG on VPX

  • @TheBigdogal
    @TheBigdogal ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome!!! How did you solve the proprietary Connector to the screen of the ALP Hardware? Or did you just discard the entire ALP original setup and go full otg?

    • @retroritchie
      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh afaik you have to go full OTG with such a setup

  • @nerdrocklives
    @nerdrocklives ปีที่แล้ว

    This is incredible looking. The flipper lag just kills me right now in OTG. I guess once you go this way you lose all the features of the Atgames interface, am I right? But it still seems like an okay trade-off to me!

    • @retroritchie
      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep you loses the ATG stuff, but the VPX stuff is so good it's (for me) totally worth it

    I'm waiting for the next sale to do this.
    Could you please share what screen you are using for the 3rd screen under the backglass?

      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, sure. TBH I would not really recommend it though, it's fine for now as a temp solution but the quality isn't so good. cheap tho!

    Hi looks great could i ask what graphics card you used.Also what monitor.does this machine need a good graphics card. Thanks Allan

      Hi there. Not sure how familiar you are with the AtGames Legends Pinball machine, but essentially its ready-to-play machine with 22 stock tables included, and the ability to buy more from the company's online store.
      You can also hook up a PC and play digital pinball you have installed, giving scope for a ton of awesome options.
      check out this link:
      www.atgames.net/arcades/legends-pinball/
      Whilst the stock machine is perfectly good and viable for a ton of pinball fun, what you see in this video is me having replaced the stock monitor(1080p 60hz) so that i could get higher fidelity, smoother ball motion
      and a reduction in input lag.
      Asolutely not necessary, but just something i fancied.
      the monitor i used is in the description. GFX card at time of recording was an AMD 6600XT

    Does the ALP need to see HDMI signal when you choose OTG to switch the controls to USB?

      I'd like to know also.

      Yes, you have to connect some HDMI signal for it to switch.

    Have you hit f11 in Fullscreen mode and checked your fps?

    • @retroritchie
      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sure do, most tables I'm hitting (way) over 165fps comfortably - there's a few that struggle with brute force anti aliasing. Note: i recently swapped out the AMD card for a 3060ti from my work machine. This gives a slight fps boost but i like it for being able to run gsync, fast vsync and ultra anti-lag - all in nvidia settings. I have found this gives the best experience with little to no (as far as i can tell) input lag. Also means on the odd occasion where a table struggles with FPS the ball motion remains stutter-free.

    had to decase?

    • @retroritchie
      @retroritchie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not for this monitor, luckily, no. i did have to raise the height and for this i cut some of the foam from the backbox packaging and placed it on the existing monitor supports, which seems to work ok
