A couple years ago I bought a couple of these off ebay in great condition. I had this sad thought where I was in the future and our old pictures/videos look like crap on newer higher resolution displays. Similar to us watching 144p cell phone videos now. It made me think about how my wife and I capture memories of our kids. I came to the conclusion that the best thing I could do is do what we already do which is snap and record everything on our phones but not I'll also take plenty of pics on film, 35mm. I got two cameras so my wife and I could have our own. I don't mind spending money on film and processing. For me it's totally worth it because I'm capturing the moment on something high quality that I can touch and look at forever without the need for a device and power. I'm not anti-digital I just don't wanna let go of film.
That's fantastic and, I think, a great reason to use film. It's a key reason I do. I recall the days of 480X640 monitors and everything looked AWESOME on them because they had so much resolution. I am sure that an image of that resolution would still look good on those monitors, but technology, despite being "backwards compatible," seems to really only work very well with other technology of the time.
I have this camera (the 300) It's a great camera! I also have the 1n. This camera uses the same lenses and is super lightweight and easy to carry about with me! I actually prefer taking this out for walks instead of the 1n because of this!
Wanted to try out a 90s film cameras. Pick up this camera locally and it took my 100mm and flash. It looks so dorky and the balance of weight is off 💀. Made me excited to explore more from that era. Looking for a A2E next
A bargain camera but remember that a film camera is nothing but a box with some holes in it. What differentiates this is that it takes EF lenses. That means you can put amazing glass on the front of the box. You may well end up with a $20 box with $1,000 of glass stuck on the front. It's all about the glass with film cameras.
I believe most cameras of this era had additional date (mentioned at approx 11 min mark) and panorama-mask options on the rear film door if they came from Japan (i.e. EOS Kiss). Kiss III had an additional revision in Japan called the Kiss III L' which introduced a metal shutter button and mode dial (but sadly, not a metal mount 🫤). None of these should be dealbreakers tbh. In most cases the features will go unused.
Hi David I store my range of eos 300V, 500, 500N cameras in plastic bags to keep them from accumulating dust, these are stored in a cupboard. The bags do have small air holes in them. Should I take them out of these bags as you advised? Regards Rob (UK).
I would suggest getting some rechargeable dessicants. Then just plunk the cameras into a plastic box and check the dessicants every month-ish. If you were in, say, Phoenixm then I'd say, definitely that's fine because there's no moisture there. But the UK is a much damper environment and I'd definitely recommend something sealed with a good dessicant pack to suck up the moisture.

I concur for sure. I would absolutely take this on a hike vs. the 1N because of the weight factor.

Is there a difference between the rebel 2000 and the kiss III or just that theyre from different countries ?

can i use my manual focus lenses on this camera? how to focus ? does it have focus assist like they have in F3 Nikon?
Your can. If it's an EOS EF lenses just turn the AF switch to MF. This camera has AF focus confirm, but not MF confirm.
