I was so impressed the second it lifted off. Just knew she was going to be rock solid. Still was nervous with this much plane in the air, but so excited it went off without a hitch
@@MotionRC Yeah that was definitely impressive, most balsa ARF builds can be a pain. Especially going Electric but it seems Black Horse did a great job, So did you, congratulations!
Nice. Good to see you have the Royal Australian Air Force Roullettes Aerobatic team livery !! I have flown these in real life and they perform beautifully as a trainer.
I use to work on the production line for the full scale pc9s for the RAAF at hawker dehavilland in Bankstown airport Australia back in the late 80s . A23-031 was the first to be painted in the in the new red/white scheme as seen here after the previous Fanta can orange /white scheme . 031 was also the first to be allocated to the Roullettes aerobatic display team . They were all eventually painted this colour ,apart from 006, the chief of air staff's aircraft , and a couple maybe few that were FAC and were painted grey . This model is probably one of the first that I've seen that faithfully reproduces the beautiful lines of this now retired aircraft
Great video James 👍. That is one nice looking plane. Still a lot of work getting it ready. Great flying. Love MotionRC and been buying there for years. Thanks for sharing. 💝
Nice flight. I'm surprised that people were flying around you on your maiden. At our field, people don't fly during a person's maiden just out of respect to give the pilot room to feel the plane out and make adjustments, then your on your own..lol Looks great in the air.
James I just got my PC 9 and it is beautiful. A question and a couple of comments first the question in my kit has an extra part that does not show up on the photos or parts list. can you help with were it is installed? it is a small rectangular "air scoop" that if vacuumed formed and painted red. it measures approximately 1.25 " long by 1 " wide and .5 high. FYI the quality of the kit is excellent but on my kit one part was omitted the wing bolt backup plate was not in the box also 8 of the small screws that hold the wing servo plate to the wing were not included. both of theses were no problem for me but you may want to send an email to the manufacturer for their shipping department.
Very nice. Beautiful! I’m wondering though, since most of the RC world, definitely includes planes, is manufactured in China; how will the new tariffs impact supply and costs? Now would be a great time to create a factory in the USA. Look at SAB, very interesting. Time to get ahead of the game, bring the manufacturing home, in-house. That would be a fantastic move. Just a thought I’ve been thinking 🤔. By the way, a great location would be North East Tennessee. A wonderful place but also a Composite material development hub. Again, just a really nice thought.
Blackhorse, Phoenix, Seagull and Sig arfs are manufactured in Vietnam. Rubbish like Skyline and Hobbyking arfs are made in China. I don't know about the US as I'm from Australia but if this stuff was made here, no one would be able to afford it... our wages are way too high!
Andrew Bosman right, the labor costs have been the largest hurdle. But think of it, what if Australia had a factory? That would be some great planes coming from down under.
Once you've flown a balsa model you'll never fly a foamie again! Even a big 1600/1700mm foamie doesn't compare with an equivalent sized balsa plane. They look better, fly better and yes are more expensive! I also love the build process... and choosing your power system. Go balsa!
Wait, wait, wait, hold up, did you say RimFire motors are outdated? Many believe RimFire motors are still the best motors on the market, so that claim may be a hard one for most to swallow. You should put your 8S Admiral up against a RimFire 1.20 (450kv) on the Admiral Pro 6S 4000 mAh LiPo on this same plane with the same 16 x 10 APC prop, I would love to see it!
I didn't mean that, I just meant they were made for those motors from years ago hence why I had to do some manipulation to the mount. Sorry if it came across that way.
@@MotionRC No worries! The plane flew very nice and I absolutely love the way you setup the Admiral motor. I am going to do that with a plane I have as well!
Please don't let this pilot made test flight again... he don't know how to fly the airplane is not stable in his hands he keeps pushing up all time ... this is not foamy my dear
Dear James, Pilatus is a beautiful aircraft model ... so ... thanks for all the important details, and for your safe and exciting maiden.Cheers.
Great job James, look forward to seeing the plane and meeting you at Jolly Good this weekend.
Thanks so much Gene! It will be my pleasure. Should be a great weekend!
Beautiful plane James and a perfect maiden.
This is on fire! 🔥 Definitely going to be my first Black Horse model, every Pilatus I've flown, they fly on Rails!

It is a good aircraft. I used a 4 blade prop and JP Hobby retracts with brakes. I’m flying on 6S.

8s?
Can't wait to get mine in the air , it has a 26 cc petrol engine in it
gas = flight time,, much cheaper too,,, i stll cringe on electric
@@MrBumbles2 Can i ask you about the front wheel setup , im having trouble getting it right ?
@@Why-ct6kz are you using air retracts? or electric from motion?
Electric from hobby king

Great flight, I have this is a nice plane and it is nice to fly. But in the RAAF the Kangaroo's always face forward.
Dam that looks a sexy and large plane.
Freaking sound module 😂
hahahah. Everytime we film it's like they wait until the camera starts rolling to make as much noise as possible ;)
The airplane look like perfect but flying with wrong pilot.. he should only fly kyosho calmato and foamy...

All Kangaroos go forward.....
