- This RC model is the largest Pilatus PC-21. Harald Jezek is known for his excellent handcrafted RC planes. This one is his latest creation. Full size aircraft: RAAF Roulette (A54-019) Pilatus PC-21

Span: 148" / 3.75 m
Length: 177" / 4.5 m
Weight: 143.3 pound / 65 kg

Propeller: 28x20 5-blade scale prop

Construction time: 10 months
The model was made of balsa, which was covered and reinforced with GRP.

I mean I'm assuming it was made to scale, but it did seem to struggle a bit right after takeoff, sounds cool as f.c. though!
Australian Air Force livery. Makes me proud to be an Australian. I have seen the Pilatus at many Australian Air Shows I've been to!

As far as the prop concern, you have to know that the size depends on the best efficiency and also of the availability on the market.
@@RCScaleAirplanes Correct, higher revolutions vs. diameter. A larger prop would cause more drag making it less efficient.

Struck me as well that the prop looks small. A scale diameter would be almost 38", while a 28" is used here.
Makes sense that a five blade 38" is probably not available, and would be less efficient on the motor/model. A fewer blade 38" might look better, though...

That's what I call a real model airplane. Takes plenty of skill to get to that point, pilot did an amazing job controlling the plane, every one of your Maneuvers was spot-on and Perfect Landing beautiful job.

Love that you can barely hold it at full throttle! What an engine and plane. Reminded me of swiss PC21 formation flights at shows when I was a kid. Looks and sounds like the original. Great job. Would love to fly such a thing.

That propellor looks comically small, totally stupid. A reduction gearbox to swing a scale diameter prop disc would be SOOOOO much better.

It's complicated, but this plane is a perfect copy of the Brazilian plane called TUCANO. Made some changes to the wings by placing winglets and shortening the tail moment a bit. But it's a copy of our beloved Toucan militarily known around the world with T-27. Pilatus should recognize this...

So is the power output of the engine and prop fully related to the prop speed? I.E. you control the speed of the aircraft simply with the speed of the shaft, no variable torque or prop pitch like on a full size turboprop?
