    I think even in your examples of the Schwa. It could be divided into two vocals. For instance the Schwa in [Ever] or [Police] we pronounce it with "uh". But in [Taken] or [Pencil] we pronounce it like there is an absence of vocal; like Pen-ssl.
    In Korean we use "ㅓ" and "ㅡ" to differentiate these two vocals.

    How do you say when one person pronounces the word "doctor" or "teacher" with /ə/ sound and other person with /ɑː/ sound? Are both of them using the schwa sound in their pronunciation? Does the/ə/ sound represent the standard way to pronounce the schwa sound and the /ɑː/ sound is it the Cockney one? Hope I expressed myself well.

      @papateachme  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good question! Just remember it's a relaxed sound, so don't worry too much about whether it sounds like a "te" or "ta", it's kind of a mix between the two :)

    • @jaredenem
      @jaredenem 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      he said in this video, and another thing in a later video, that you can use a mix. basically you can decide whether you want to pronounce the T. although, in trying to sound posh/using RP (what the other video was about) the T is always articulated.

    Excellent lessons for a Romanian like me who has an American accent when speaking English.. oh jeez it's so hard to get rid of the American "er". We sound American because Romanian is a very phonetic language with a lot of consonants, and we also don't have such a heavy accent.

    So I was wondering, how do you know if the accent you use sounds right, or doesn't sound stupid?

    teacher Papa , I love u and your lesson .However, after the first lesson about glottal T and true T, I prefer true T. So, I have got a little confusion that can I only use true T in my every sentence when I talk ?
    Thanks so much for supporting me !

    I don't know if you've already addressed this, but could you please explain the 'science' behind some Londoners pronouncing 'TH' like 'F'? For example, the verb 'to think' sounding like 'to fink'? Which accent is this? I don't mean to sound racist or anything, but I just want to note that I've heard this accent mostly at black British persons. Thank you!

    I love your lessons, there are very good. I have a question. Should try to get a British accent when I live in the U.S.? I originally speak French so English in not my first language, and I kinda have a French accent.

      Hey there ! Honestly, keep your accent as it is. I know that having a French accent can be uncomfortable in a way when you live in an english-speaking country but having an english accent in the US is the same. Besides, you'll have people asking you if you're British and all that sort of stuff and it might just get awkward.
      And don't forget that they actually prefer a French accent, they find it sexier. ;)
