I have lived in West OKC (Yukon) for 22 years, I lived in the Newcastle area for 17 years. Both have their good attributes, but access to health care and shopping is much better in the Yukon area..

Thanks for sharing, yes you're right Yukon definitely has more of those amenities nearby. Newcastle is a really pretty area though!

Such great info for out-of-towners looking to move. I think I have it down to Yukon, but The Village sounds good as well, now. My wife and I like small town and quiet, but we also want kids nearby for our little ones to make friends quickly.

For me my choices would be number one Mighty Moore number two Norman the Great number three Yukon number four Mustang, number 5 Blanchard, number 6 Newcastle.

Great list! Newcastle is making a come up I feel like right now. And Purcell is growing quite a bit as well. Blanchard is super pretty. 👌

@@livinginoklahomacityofficial I keep forgetting about Purcell, that town reminds me of Bowie Texas which is about 45 minutes from where I live

This is like saying that cow crap tastes better than horse crap. It’s still crap.

@@livinginoklahomacityofficial No matter what, it’s still Oklahoma. I live in Yukon (the best option for the area in MY opinion) but still…..it’s Oklahoma. 49th in education, crazy taxes, 10 years behind any other state, mostly “conservative” & not the greatest weather unless you like 100 degree heat with humidity, ice storms & tornadoes.

@drewstinnett5375 Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, though I am curious why you would even spend time watching a channel designed for people curious to learn more about OKC ahead of their move here if you dislike it so much 🤣.
I think Yukon is great and not unlike several other great "smaller" suburbs for those who like that kind of vibe. I prefer the areas that are more "in" the city, which is why I've lived in The Village for 20 years. I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life, predominantly the OKC area, and our perspectives are pretty different for sure. Do I think there are areas for improvement? Absolutely, like there are anywhere. I also spent 10 years of my life traveling all over the world, including 25-30 extensive city by city tours of the US, and 9 tours of countless cities in Europe/UK across 16 countries. Having all of that perspective, I think that OKC has a lot of great things to offer that many places don't, with major city ammentities for a fraction of the cost of most major cities. AND the city is constantly improving and becoming better in so many ways.
I think it's easy to focus only on the downsides to virtually anywhere you could live, and our perspective will often color our experience. Here's a couple of objective facts worth noting in response to a couple of your criticisms: Oklahoma has the 8th lowest tax burden across all 50 states, so its certainly not some high tax state. And yes, it gets hot here as well as some volatile weather. However, today was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 87, similar to the last several days (and the next several days forecast). There is an average of 205 - 235 sunny days here in OKC, of which only an average of 11 exceed 100 degrees.
      Thanks for the comment
