Yes finally a review of version 1 & version 3 of the Alphafly with mention to version 2, I love the simple, to the point explanation, I needed to know about speed comparison as well as all the other questions I had/have & you delivered.
I need to ask; you did a podcast not long ago about midsole durability where you also mentioned that shoe foams don't retain their original properties long term, even if unused and unexposed to the elements. So is there really any compelling argument for buying the OG Alpha?
I bought the exact same pair of AF 1 several years ago but find it quite exhausting to run in. Maybe it’s because of the heel drop issue you mentioned, so I just switched back to VF 1 and 2 for racing as they felt more efficient. Heard VF 3 has kind of mellowed out, so I am willing to give the AF 3 a try at some point.
O just got my alpha 3 , loved my 1s but the new 3 is as fast as the original but very comfortable at any pace , well worth it, I hated version 2s arch problems 😊
I had the AF1 when it just released and still have a new pair. 3 years old and it still is just as bouncy. V1 is a lot more propulsive then th v3, v3 is more comfortable.
I'm a beginner runner and bought the version 1 from the outlet yesterday. I wasn't planning on buying a racing shoe when I went in. I was there to buy my second running shoe as I've just started running and was using my 2yr old pegasus trail 3 (previously used for walking) for the past 2 months. I was enjoying the runs but my feet and calves were screaming after. I decided I needed an actual road shoe thus the trip to the outlet. I already found my daily runner then I saw the alphafly box stuck in a bottom rack. It was the only pair left and it was in my size. I was thinking is this a sign? An affirmation for me to continue running? I have no plans of running a race yet but still bought it as it was on sale and I could get a 3rd pair of shoes for free if I bought it. It felt comfortable. Standing on it the negative drop felt weird but I tried taking a few strides in store and it felt really good as a forefoot striker. Going from a trail shoe to the af1 was a revelation. I'm going to train with the other 2 shoes I got but I hope I can eventually use the af1 for an actual race.
good comparison. It would be really cool if you team compared carbon efficiency running shoes with current carbon plate shoes. So e.g. 1Mile Run with heart rate comparison etc.
Do you think for a mid/forefoot striker that the extra 4mm of cushion in the front of the v1 might help in the later stages of a race? Or do you think the improved weight/fit of the 3 evens that out?
Honestly, you'd have to try them out. Nobody is going to know how severe your pronation is. Some overpronating runners can run in these with no problem, while some may experience severe pain/discomfort. I work in a run specialty store and see this all the time.
I would be extremely cautious on buying running shoe of ebay or any otger platform - there is no way authentication will catch fake in running shoes - shoe will look identical but midsole will be different foam ... and expensive running shoes are faked in bunch ...
This! I consider myself kind of an expert relative to vaporflys and the last pair I bought on stock was definitely fake… No way to feel, the shoe was exactly the same, same weight etc. as the original but if you have experience Running with this model you can definitely tell that it was WAY harsher on the feet… If you dont have a Nike official proof/invoice don‘t offer your money to these fake sellers!

Alphafly 3 vs Endorphin Elite - that’s the comparison we all need.
Should be out shortly!

I have both now , it’s slightly more stable than the elite but possibly slightly more rewarding at very high speeds , it’s almost a dead heat

I agree with your thoughts on the AF1. They sprang me up but not forward. So i passed on the AF2. I will need to try the 3's!

Astonishing shoes. Have allowed me to run faster, longer and with far less fatigue at the age of 52. Planning my first full marathon in October.

Mantz and Rupp both chose the V1 in the trials. It will be interesting to see what people will be wearing in Paris this year.
Got mine on stockx yesterday 😅
Woah I have the exact same shirt from the bowerman xc camp 😮
Thank you - this is the comparison that I needed.

Very Interesting! So what's the most similar shoe on the market to version 1 (expecially considering the versaitility aspect in slower paces of v1)?
lookup 361 furious future. I cannot say Ive run in it but there is a review online comparing the two...
Nice comparison!! Thanks a lot!

I’ve put over 1000 miles on my alpha fly 1s I’m thinking of getting the 3 rn
Had problems with the foot arch with the 1. do you think they solved the problem with the 3?
Alphafly next 3 need go half up size ?
Can you still get the alpha fly 1s?
Even thinking about doing easyruns in Alphaflys makes no sense to me
Agreed but tons of people do.

What about v2?
No mention of the arch!? Or lack thereof?
V3 has a large arch and sidewalls on the medial and lateral sides the full length. This is not as present in v1
3 version literally sold out in 3 mins on the Nike app! I was lucky to to get a pair, are they true to size?
“Sold out” that is a just a con man
HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION? SIMPLY ALPHAFLY 3. HOW CAN WE BUY ALPHA 1 this day?
I over pronate when I run, I usually wear Nike Structure, if I wore these would I have enough support? Or just end up in pain

I run in stability shoes. I find the Alphaflys offer brilliant support for overpronation even though they aren’t advertised as a stability shoe.
@@ClubmanGT1971 I might take the plunge and buy
Did someone say Alphafly?

dont trust ebay i bought one is totally fake wasting money.
I wonder which shoe that noisy bird prefers...
Matt needs to put horseshoes on every shoes he wears, nothing last for him 😂
This is a brilliant idea. Shoes might be a little clunky but at least they’ll last!
👍🏻
Being that you can't get the Alphafly 1 anymore, I guess you're left with no choice.
v2 was the worst alphafly
Nothing will compare to the AF 3 for marathon racing. Sorry, but the other brands are just playing catch up (once again).
Some people are choosing the Metaspeed paris ahead of the AF3 sorry
Ounces? How mush is that in stones and pebbles? At least you got the drop in SI units.
