That really was fun, Mike.Speed 2,500 plus? I've seen Christmas trees turned slowly in Lime that way, and,of course, mushrooms, which don't excite me. Must have a go at this, having plenty of green stock from wild trees in the garden. Thanks, Bernard.
I first learned this technique after I bought a set of Colwin Way signature Skews. He put out a video on using the skews and these flowers were one of the projects that he used. I've also made these with a trumpet in the center. You make that first before pealing back the flowers. I've also used an air brush sprayer to put color dye on them. Great project though.
Great idea, I'll be making these on the lathe tomorrow. Thanks.
I saw this and headed for the loppers … then the lathe… Awesome idea! It works well!
Great video, I saw it in time for Valentine’s Day. Thanks
Good use of pruning pieces. Now I have another thing on my list of things to turn. As always, good video!
Thanks, Tim. These are fun. My PM2014 arrives Wed!
You are doing on purpose with a skew that which I usually do by accident. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
It was unexpected that these branches would become unique and extraordinary works of art...👍👍 Good job my friend
Thank you! Cheers!
Something different again Mike. Will go perfect with your twig pots from the past. 🌹
I think so too!
Your flowers make a great craft show demo idea. Nice alternative to making tops.
You are right, thanks for the idea. The challenge could be getting fresh green shoots.
Amazing
Thanks
Beautiful little flowers Mike
Thanks, Jack.
Nice little crafty project...it was nice talking with you at the AAW in Louisville last weekend.
Thanks, me too!
Very nice. Great relaxing idea too.
Thank you! 😊
I love turning flowers…your hand was in the way of the turned flowers.
Neat! Thanks, Mike!
You bet!
Very nice demo -this would help sell vases and an easy way to use up smaller scraps. Thanks for sharing your work!
Yes! Thank you!
Pretty cool!
Very nice little project Mike ……. You make it all look so easy 🤠🇨🇱
Thanks 👍. They really are easy.
Nice video
Thanks

Glad you enjoyed it. Having green shoots handy is essential.

I will have to look for his video. I missed that one. I just bought an air brush!
use a piece of MDF and drill it with a forstner bit the swarf forms into little flowers
Thanks for sharing.
Neat idea! Could you of turned the back of the flower first and then made the petals? Might be easier?
Possibly, but it would not provide any support for the cut.
That looks like the Record Power SC chuck. What jaws are you using?
Those are pin jaws. Also great for drilling a 1 1/8" hole for initial bowl mounting.
I would love to see a flower made with the camera looking down to show the turner’s eye view.
Thanks for the feedback.
First comment! I win! :p
