@@catlady8324 That's what the manual says. If you need to move the cams independently don't force anything if it's not wanting to move freely. At these slow speeds you're not going to damage anything if the valves do touch. You can also align the cams with the head off so you can see the valves.
If the head is warped usually you do notwanna get it decked, the reason is because the whole head becomes deformed which will make the cam shaft jernals tight in one area and loose in another
anaerobic is only neccisary if you plan on torquing stuff down as soon as you put it together and plan to run it right away, RTV like Ultra Grey is fine as long as you set it set up for 30 minutes prior to torquing things down and do not plan ad oils and start it for min of 24 hours.
@ Not concerned about changing the tolerances on the end caps? That’s why the factory service manual calls for a aerobic sealer. When torqued down it’s practically nonexistent and doesn’t effect the diameter of the bore as much as RTV. It can cure in the absence of oxygen, hence the name. RTV is to only be used on the edge of the cap where the valve cover gasket meets the head and the cap, not in between the cap and the head. That’s just asking for trouble.
@@markamcampbell5795 Usually that's from a bad valve cover gasket. The head gasket is below the spark plugs so a bad head gasket won't fill up the spark plug well. If that is your only issue then I would start by replacing the valve cover gasket first and see if that fixes your problem 👍
Excuse me, where in the United States do you work since I have a pt cruiser 2.4 2005 turbo and it has been failing me frequently
Aweooooome video A+!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@RicardoDiaz-mb9wm Thanks! Glad this video is helpful 🙂
I heard talk on the street saying this engine’s valves do not hit the pistons, but they may hit each other.

In your professional opinion is it worth skimming the head and replacing the head gasket or it's better to just get a new engine

The end caps actually call for anaerobic sealer not rtv.

not sure if my head gasket is bad but the spark plugs were covered with oil.
