You see real character growth you think it’s going to be this romance which it is but the growth between the mother and son is so wonderful and even the ex-husband and the music is phenomenal
I thought this movie could be sweet or really too sweet. I'm glad it's not too cutesy or sweet. It's on my rainy Sunday list!!! Great review as always!
I watched a screening of this movie thanks to you guys. The title and movie description isn’t very enticing. So if it hadn’t been because of both of you, I wouldn’t have chosen to watch this film. Flora is HILARIOUS! And that Irish potty mouth (throw in the accent) makes it even funnier. I laughed so much! The audience I watched it with was very lively and laughing a lot. I’d watch it again. Really a pleasant gem of a film. Highly recommend.
It's weird before I saw Flora and Son a trailer of a new film with Meg Ryan and David Duchovny was shown. My impression was I didn't feel any chemistry between them. It felt so odd and off. Which highlighted why Flora and Son worked for me. The chemistry here is palatable. I feel in each of his film's music is not only a common thread that links characters but serves as a mode of escape and freedom. I give this film a 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
Eve Hewson doesn't trade on her name, but her Daddy is a very, very well known musician! So it's in the genes! No spoilers, Google's your friend! 😅 John Carney really knows his music. In Once, (the film for which others have pointed out, you put up the wrong poster), the music is by the brilliant Glen Hansard.
Every single human knows her father is Bono...of U2 game...and no, google is not your friend as they dinnae pay taxes...IMDb for films...cor, stay in the states...
D07 is an eircode prefix (think zipcode). The odd number indicates that he lives on the north side of Dublin, a notoriously rough area. All the even numbers, like D4, are posh areas. It's not a play on Bond's number 007. I think a lot of Irish films are able to walk that fine line between heartwarming and overly sentimental because they feature authentic characterisations. It's realistic, but charming at the same time. Not "The Banshees of Inisherin" though; that film was offensive in its portrayal of Irish islanders as it seemed to make the people appear obtuse. If you want to watch a funny Irish island romp, check out "Grabbers." As always, I love your reviews gentlemen. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤
Nice! A story that flows along without major bumps and twists, which made you think that that wasn't possible, but it did so!
