- Very happy to join the many people who have shared their version of this great piece on TH-cam. My salute to all of you. I based my cover on the 1963 Columbia recording as well as on the 1964 B&W Canadian TV clip. Learning and performing this song has been a great adventure. I hope you all will enjoy it.

Welldone. I like your version. Thanks for sharing. Take care ;-)
Thanks. That means a lot to me. Best wishes.
Love that one ambiguous chord. One of my favorite tunes.
Thanks. Yes, it is a haunting sound isn't it. And the tune is just pure genius.
Oliv, you’ve done this poignant meditative piece some wonderful justice.
Thank you, I am very happy you liked my version. It is always intimidating to attempt to cover a timeless classic like this one.
Beautiful interpretation of a Dylans song ..
Thanks. Such a great tune. Plays itself.
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful version, your voice is amazing!!
Very sweet! Merci, G. 😘
Excellentissime interprétation !
Merci, Alain. C'est très gentil !
Thanks again Oliv.....I appreciate your version of this piece and your clear expression of the words when singing it . Also your playing that Harmonica brings me back to my childhood days of the 40's on a farm outside Winnipeg ... when we played the harmonica it was our expression of musical involvement as we had no musical training... the harmonica served as an expression of our feelings .... and its very effective part of your expressive version of this song . Such a pleasure to hear you again .
Thank you for your generous comment and for sharing this childhood experience. I also remember the magic of the mouth organ as a child. Such a joy to be able to play little melodies with something you can carry in your pocket. I remember my first harmonica a Bb Marine Band that my mom bought for me when I was 6 or 7.
I am glad you enjoyed the video and took the time to write. Best wishes.
Bravo 😍❤❤ beautiful singing and playing
Merci d'avoir pris un moment pour l'écouter. On peut toujours compter sur toi ❤️

Thank you, Jean-Marc. It is always a pleasure to hear something from you and to listen to your own recordings.
GREAT !
@@alfrede.newmen3024 Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers.
So good with this song. That yearning can linger for a while. You showed how beautiful the art. Thank you for your art.
Thank you for listening and dropping a line. I am very happy you enjoyed the recording.
Gorgeous work !
Thank you so much. It is such a great tune.
Olivier, a new level of singing here, I think. That high pitch in your voice you call on is a new discovery for me and really cool! Excellent.
Richard, thank you for giving it a listen and for your enthusiastic response. I used to sing in that register more often when I was a youngster. Then I turned to jazz tunes and had more of a crooner's repertoire and a completely different singing approach. I am glad you liked it.
Interesting (and fine) to play this song with the chords and arrangement closer to Spanish boots.
Thank you. It is true that in Spanish boots he goes to the D7 shape chord more systematically. He only does it once in Girl from the North Country (studio version).
The two songs are strikingly similar in harmonic progression and melody.
Thanks for listening and dropping a line.
nice job sir
Thank you, Bob. Very happy you enjoyed it.
Took me about two seconds to subscribe my friend. Damn nice job.
Hello GC thank you for your kind comment. It means a lot coming from a fellow finger-style player and singer.
I just subscribed to you. Your stuff is great 👍
@@olivgrove thank you my friend what part of the country you in?
@@gcvincent3989 I am in New Orleans, La. You?
Brilliant.
Thank you!
@@olivgrove I might mention that I have been covering Dylan stuff since circa 1965. I did a gig tonight where within 20 songs, inc Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, etc. I preformed the Ballad of Hollis Brown. I have a vid on TH-cam of me doing this song (ie Hollis Brown)
Cool. I wish i could have attended! I will go and find that video. Cheers.
👌👌👌👌👌😎
Thank you!
Quite excellent and sounded like Bob on the harmonica. A pleasure to listen to. Will you also turn your talents to North Country Blues?
Thank you for listening and for your generous compliments. North Country Blues is a great suggestion.
👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Nicely done. That's a beautiful J50. What strings do you like on it?
Thank you. I am glad you liked it. It means a lot to hear from other players/singers. The J50 is a 67 or 68, sloped shoulders but a belly-down bridge. Very thin at the nut. I had put on a new set of Earthwoods 54-12 that day. What do you use?
I just uploaded a new tune where you can hear it in an open-tuning, if you care to hear it: th-cam.com/video/nT8wt1vmmCk/w-d-xo.html
Mine's a '65 with the adjustable bridge replaced. I've had D'Addario mediums (phosphor bronze) on it, but am currently using D'Addario light gauge (80/20 bronze) which I'm not liking too much since I mostly use a pick. I think maybe I'll give those EB Earthwoods a try--they sound really nice. Thanks for responding.
@@scottchrisu3490 A 65!? it must be very nice. I have also had the adjustable bridge replaced (by a bone bridge). Have used the D'Addario mediums on mine as well and liked them quite a bit too. I have never tried the light gauge ones. Good luck with the Earthwoods. A pleasure to correspond! That's what this is all about. Cheers.
Preciosa voz !
Thank you, Luz. So happy you enjoyed it.
your video is amazing!!
Glad you think so! Thanks for listening and writing.
