All I can say is , if you are dressed like that at the beg of June , can you imagine what mid December and January would be like , absolute bloomin baltic , I sympathize totally with no sleep , its really hard to function the following day , definitely a pod day with a snooze and plenty of treats , The Outer Hebrides is definitely off my bucket list 😮❤😮❤😮

A tip regarding the vents: Today, many garden centers have rolls of Velcro bands to anchor branches at a "cheap" price. Cut four strips (double-sided action) the height of the vents and glue the smooth surface at both ends of the vents with the "longhaired" side out. Then sew the next two onto a wind-breaking cloth the same size as the vents and simply fasten the windbreaker onto the vents.

We feel your pain we had a long weekend in our caravan & the wind was so bad we felt sea sick along with torrential rain so for two nights we hardly slept. After the 2nd night we abandoned the long weekend & went home it was awful.

Ah poor Winston. We spent a week in Scotland in August at the tail end of a storm. The wind and rain were truly awful and we didn't sleep for three nights. The caravan rocked and the rain lashed down but our little dog slept through the lot!😂 Meanwhile we were absolutely exhausted and totally fedup. Hope the weather improved for you.

Hi Roz. Fellow podder here. I use some Cartrend caravan support stands on both sides of the chasis at the front of the Pod and it stops any rocking. They are lightweight, pack up into a small box and only take about 2 mins to put in place. Reasonably priced too.😊
Another awesome video... From experience, I learnt to discover the direction of the prevailing winds and then turn the most aerodynamic portion of the caravan into that direction... Limits the shaking and wind noise as much as possible... Thank you for sharing another day of your adventures... ❤❤❤❤

June ! My god it was horrible for you both. 😞 Our boy dog is scared of the wind and we had force 10 for 3 days it was like being on a train with constant motion. But like you the sound is the worst . I now watch your videos as my treat so I can chill when the house is quiet and our little dogs chill too .😎

It wasn’t a boring video at all, it’s a true reflection of pod life in stormy weather. I did feel sorry for poor Winston, feeling all scared , bless him❤ update on the shower timing, I can get it down to 7mins, 24 seconds but I do have short bob hair and used leave in conditioner which I applied after shower. However after a long wet muddy hike it took 15 mins, 17 seconds. It’s very strange having it set at 7. 30 why not 10 mins at least. It be interesting to know what they base the showering time on 🧐

On a campsite in the Highlands once I was asked by the warden to move my large motorhome to an area to protect three tents due to gales. They all had a wonderful night sleep unlike myself and wife . Thanks for sharing.

I enjoy your videos whatever you do, it's so nice to see you both enjoying your life together. I don't think it's a negative having a dog making you go out it's a blessing, they push you into wrapping up warm & battling the elements! Wind can be scary when you're in a tent or camper van.
Yep, there are days when I've not wanted to go outside, but felt much better after walking Winston in the fresh air 🥰 Although, I could have done without walking in that storm 😂🙈
I would add that I quite like gentle rain at night time when in a caravan. The gentle pitter-patter on the roof is quite restful. Not "hammering-it-down" rain and not gale force winds chucking the rain around, though. The worst weather when camping or Caravanning is wind, by far. Cold - put more clothes on or make a pot of tea. Hot - take some layers off. Rain - put waterproofs on. Wind - just hold onto everything and hunker down in the hope it will go away.
Yes, I enjoy the gentle pitter-patter of rain when in the caravan, it's a lovely sound to relax to. Unfortunately, this rain was not gentle pitter-patter 😂😂🙈
This year the weather has been terrible, been out in my pod only a handful of times, Glencoe, Speyside and Caithness taking my mountain e-bike which fits in the back of the pod nicely, I do hope Roz that the weather improves for yourself and Winston, I so look forward to your adventures together.
You couldn't make it up with such dreadful weather in June, even in Scotland! Don't wory about how long or short, or late your videos are, we are grateful for them regardless! Note to self, when i get my caravan avoid coastal campsites regardless of the time of year!
The wind noise was awful. I am deaf in one ear, so at least I can take my hearing aid out. Forgot to mention on the last one, the sign at the burial tomb saying the entrance is closed, was there two years ago. Hope the weather picks up for you. Poor Winston looked very sad. ilona
I'd say the defining weather of the 2024 summer has been "windy". Wettish, too, but mostly windy. Well, that's my view of the weather in North Yorkshire and a bit in Northumberland. I'm currently in Ullapool (early-mid October) and here it has been wet, wet and wetter. However the wind has held off so far. Apparently we are due some sunny intervals in the next couple of days! BBC weather App was forecasting massive hurricanes across the whole of the UK a few days ago, before we set off for Scotland - a "glitch" in the App, apparently!

Hi there. Thanks for that. The weather is always the issue. I love it hunkered down in the van with the heating on and the rain lashing down outside. Makes me feel chilled and relaxed right up to the point…. As you put it. Walk the dog. But hey I would not have it any other way. All the best.
Definitely some adventure you are on, but for the outdoors the weather is everything. Living in the Lakes it's the wind I dislike the most as you are exposed on the fells like you are on the coast, and 20 mph+ is a lot stronger than people think. Anyway I hope you do get some fine weather eventually.

I don’t mind the pod days. We get to see the campsite and listen to your daily routine. About the sleep, can you handle ear plugs for sleeping? I don’t like them personally, when things are loud while I’m trying to sleep I play audiobooks as white noise. But that wind is fierce! Hopefully next campsite has better shelter because that weather is LOUD.
I've not tried earplugs while sleeping. Although it would help, I'm not sure I'd want my hearing blocked. Having Winston in the caravan and travelling alone, I'd like to be woken up if something happened (I just don't want waking up by wind 😂😂)

Just a thought about the metered showers: maybe put two one pound coins in before you start, thus getting a fifteen minute relaxing shower, rather than a hurried shorter one? Costs more, but at least it’s a better experience. Cheers for the Thursday video, shame about the crap weather again, my dogs listen for the weather and refuse to go out if it’s too bad! Eventually we, like you, have to brave it, but it’s a very quick toilet break and back inside!
Putting £2 in the metre for 15min would be better than doing £1 and having to get out of the shower half way to put in the other £1, but I'm not sure if the machines would let you do that 🤔🤔 I didn't try. Thanks for watching and following the adventure 👍🏼😀
@@Roz.S I believe if you put two coins in, once the first one has run out the second one drops and gives you the second cycle. Or on some digital ones, it will add on the payment giving 15 minutes of shower time. Still a cheek, I think it should be included in site fee anyway.

I' may be pld but, that's the worst case of wind I've ever seen!! Seriously though, it'd a good job you were in a smaller vehicle and pod. The wind sounded like it would even have blown my thing sideways or over. And poor "Windmill:! He looked terrified, bless him. Good to know you make it to the next video. And tho you were held hostage by the gale, the vid was still good to watch. It's like an alternative view. We get the pros And thr cons of island camping. Ya dun great, kid! Aww Roz, that was a bad session with the weather, been out in some storms over the years, Judy dog hated it especially thunder and lightning, she would hide behind me shaking like a leaf. A couple of tips, put cling film over the outside of the vents on the windward side and also place your van along side of the pod so it's a windbreak. Have a safe trip to the next camp, give Winston a hug from me and Remi.
Nothing worse that storm when camping omg been there when I was a kid in old canvas tents thunderstorms from 8pm - 4am never again... Castlerigg camping and caravan site at night it's windy as fck ... Almost ruine my new aitbeam tent the wind sound like hurrcaine... Poor Winston felt for him poor thing he was scare....give him loads of hugs from us all.. hugs for you as as from us all... Ur champ.xx
Do not like wind especially strong noisy winds. Once we were just a few yards from a tree which blew over, the crashing noise was awful. Just a naive thought, could you get strong ropes over pod to tie down. Really felt for you with that weather. And we remember every trip we took to Scotland the weather was really hot. First time was 1976. Lovely to see you both as usual, nice its Thursday not yesterday as i wasn't feeling so good , so as ever enjoy yourself and Winston. I don't think the outershell of the Pod would be strong enough for straps going over the top; I think it may crack the shell if they were done up tight. I think every time I have visited Scotland in a caravan it's rained 😂😂 Get well soon ❤️👍🏼
I think I will do in the future, but not for the next couple of years. I'd need to get a bigger towing vehicle first as my van can only tow 1000kg. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Yes, I think it was. I've had windy nights before, but the wind usually dies down in the early hours and then I can get some sleep. This has definitely been the longest string of worst weather that I've had on a trip. I thought that since I was going to be in the Outer Hebrides for a month that I would get at least a few nice days, but no 😂🙈
Winston really is making a Pig's ear out of eating his ...Pig's ear! Next time you are shut in, in similar condition's. You could do a brief tutorial of of how you edit your vids. Fill in some time with some fottage.
They have obviously invested a lot of money in the site. I have stayed on CLs and CSs with no facilities and have paid £25.00 pn, so I think £1.00 for a shower is still very reasonable.
I agree, the price is reasonable. I just don't like the faff of coins and timers. I'd much prefer to pay a little bit more for the pitch and have "free" showers. But that's just my personal preference 😀 Thanks so much for watching my video and following the adventure 😀
A few years back I saw a small caravan on a site in Wales that had 4 of the dog anchors front and back and two lengths of rope over the top to hold it stable. Maybe a idea you could use .
When you go to bed worrying about wind and noise ...you will hear wind and noise. Ear defenders? Have you tried these? I camp. In a tent you can on a wild and windy night, be perfectly dry and safe. Eye covers, but especially ear plugs go a long way to helping sleep. Do you use ear plugs?

My dog gets scared in storms too. I find popping a blanket over him helps settles him a lot, he must feel more secure under it. 💕👍🏽

The worst weather when camping or Caravanning is wind, by far. Cold - put more clothes on or make a pot of tea. Hot - take some layers off. Rain - put waterproofs on. Wind - just hold onto everything and hunker down in the hope it will go away.
Yes, I enjoy the gentle pitter-patter of rain when in the caravan, it's a lovely sound to relax to. Unfortunately, this rain was not gentle pitter-patter 😂😂🙈
This year the weather has been terrible, been out in my pod only a handful of times, Glencoe, Speyside and Caithness taking my mountain e-bike which fits in the back of the pod nicely, I do hope Roz that the weather improves for yourself and Winston, I so look forward to your adventures together.

You couldn't make it up with such dreadful weather in June, even in Scotland! Don't wory about how long or short, or late your videos are, we are grateful for them regardless! Note to self, when i get my caravan avoid coastal campsites regardless of the time of year!

The wind noise was awful. I am deaf in one ear, so at least I can take my hearing aid out. Forgot to mention on the last one, the sign at the burial tomb saying the entrance is closed, was there two years ago. Hope the weather picks up for you. Poor Winston looked very sad. ilona

I'd say the defining weather of the 2024 summer has been "windy". Wettish, too, but mostly windy. Well, that's my view of the weather in North Yorkshire and a bit in Northumberland.
I'm currently in Ullapool (early-mid October) and here it has been wet, wet and wetter. However the wind has held off so far. Apparently we are due some sunny intervals in the next couple of days!
BBC weather App was forecasting massive hurricanes across the whole of the UK a few days ago, before we set off for Scotland - a "glitch" in the App, apparently!
I saw the weather app glitch - winds of over 1000mph 😱😂 Thankfully, it was just a glitch.

Hi there. Thanks for that. The weather is always the issue. I love it hunkered down in the van with the heating on and the rain lashing down outside. Makes me feel chilled and relaxed right up to the point…. As you put it. Walk the dog. But hey I would not have it any other way. All the best.
Definitely some adventure you are on, but for the outdoors the weather is everything. Living in the Lakes it's the wind I dislike the most as you are exposed on the fells like you are on the coast, and 20 mph+ is a lot stronger than people think. Anyway I hope you do get some fine weather eventually.

I don’t mind the pod days. We get to see the campsite and listen to your daily routine.
About the sleep, can you handle ear plugs for sleeping? I don’t like them personally, when things are loud while I’m trying to sleep I play audiobooks as white noise. But that wind is fierce! Hopefully next campsite has better shelter because that weather is LOUD.
I've not tried earplugs while sleeping. Although it would help, I'm not sure I'd want my hearing blocked. Having Winston in the caravan and travelling alone, I'd like to be woken up if something happened (I just don't want waking up by wind 😂😂)

Just a thought about the metered showers: maybe put two one pound coins in before you start, thus getting a fifteen minute relaxing shower, rather than a hurried shorter one? Costs more, but at least it’s a better experience. Cheers for the Thursday video, shame about the crap weather again, my dogs listen for the weather and refuse to go out if it’s too bad! Eventually we, like you, have to brave it, but it’s a very quick toilet break and back inside!
Putting £2 in the metre for 15min would be better than doing £1 and having to get out of the shower half way to put in the other £1, but I'm not sure if the machines would let you do that 🤔🤔 I didn't try.

@@Roz.S I believe if you put two coins in, once the first one has run out the second one drops and gives you the second cycle. Or on some digital ones, it will add on the payment giving 15 minutes of shower time. Still a cheek, I think it should be included in site fee anyway.

Seriously though, it'd a good job you were in a smaller vehicle and pod. The wind sounded like it would even have blown my thing sideways or over. And poor "Windmill:! He looked terrified, bless him. Good to know you make it to the next video. And tho you were held hostage by the gale, the vid was still good to watch. It's like an alternative view. We get the pros And thr cons of island camping. Aww Roz, that was a bad session with the weather, been out in some storms over the years, Judy dog hated it especially thunder and lightning, she would hide behind me shaking like a leaf. A couple of tips, put cling film over the outside of the vents on the windward side and also place your van along side of the pod so it's a windbreak. Have a safe trip to the next camp, give Winston a hug from me and Remi.
Nothing worse that storm when camping omg been there when I was a kid in old canvas tents thunderstorms from 8pm - 4am never again... Castlerigg camping and caravan site at night it's windy as fck ... Almost ruine my new aitbeam tent the wind sound like hurrcaine... Poor Winston felt for him poor thing he was scare....give him loads of hugs from us all.. hugs for you as as from us all... Ur champ.xx
Do not like wind especially strong noisy winds. Once we were just a few yards from a tree which blew over, the crashing noise was awful. Just a naive thought, could you get strong ropes over pod to tie down. Really felt for you with that weather. And we remember every trip we took to Scotland the weather was really hot. First time was 1976. Lovely to see you both as usual, nice its Thursday not yesterday as i wasn't feeling so good , so as ever enjoy yourself and Winston. Stay safe and hopefully soon have a good night sleep ❤
I don't think the outershell of the Pod would be strong enough for straps going over the top; I think it may crack the shell if they were done up tight.
I think every time I have visited Scotland in a caravan it's rained 😂😂

I think I will do in the future, but not for the next couple of years. I'd need to get a bigger towing vehicle first as my van can only tow 1000kg.

Yes, I think it was. I've had windy nights before, but the wind usually dies down in the early hours and then I can get some sleep. This has definitely been the longest string of worst weather that I've had on a trip. I thought that since I was going to be in the Outer Hebrides for a month that I would get at least a few nice days, but no 😂🙈
No pork and no chocolate for Winston. Can cause organ issues in dogs.
The highest wind speeds in the UK north were recorded at up to 190 mph but unfortunately the recording equipment then blew away....

Next time you are shut in, in similar condition's. You could do a brief tutorial of of how you edit your vids. Fill in some time with some fottage.

They have obviously invested a lot of money in the site. I have stayed on CLs and CSs with no facilities and have paid £25.00 pn, so I think £1.00 for a shower is still very reasonable.
I agree, the price is reasonable. I just don't like the faff of coins and timers. I'd much prefer to pay a little bit more for the pitch and have "free" showers. But that's just my personal preference 😀

A few years back I saw a small caravan on a site in Wales that had 4 of the dog anchors front and back and two lengths of rope over the top to hold it stable. Maybe a idea you could use .
I've heard of a people that do that, but I'd be scared of cracking the shell of my Pod 🙈
@Roz.S if it's a fiberglass shell you would need to put a lot of pressure on the rope to do any harm .

I camp. In a tent you can on a wild and windy night, be perfectly dry and safe. Eye covers, but especially ear plugs go a long way to helping sleep. Do you use ear plugs?
